About Ilaeka Villa

I lived and worked in Europe for 20 years before returning to Tennessee to live near my family. My Dad, retired IBM exec known by our guests as 'Papa Phil', helps me with the business and handles the popular catering we offer the cottages. He lives in a nearby 1800s farmhouse and guests love his cooking! I handle marketing and customer service and we do all we can to make our guests happy! I recently sold this property to a long time family friend who had been renting it out for vacations for many years and although I no longer own it, I continue to manage the vacation listing for the new property owner and live nearby in our family's 1800s farmhouse.

Ilaeka Villa purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Ilaeka Villa chose Grandview

I always loved the beauty the Cumberland Plateau and all the surrounding region has to offer especially the peace and quiet! I decided to come back from Europe where I had been living to be near my family and open a B&B style vacation rental business which was eco friendly and committed to offering a wonderful pampering experience in the countryside to our city stressed guests! I tried to equip the cottages as I had found country vacation homes in Europe - with all the bells and whistles! The area has so many waterfalls, hikes, and Appalachian charm we know you will like it too. Lakes, rivers and lots of great hikes surround us!

What makes this cottage unique

Upscale country cottage with all the amenities: Private outdoor Hot Tub, wood burning fireplace, indoor tiled luxury shower, eco-friendly soaps and toiletries, spa robes, organic farmhouse catering, all natural linens, book library, flat screen hi def 200 channels and more! Wonderful star gazing, outdoor cowboy style fire-pit, hiking and fishing onsite. Mountain View and wide open vistas. Near to shopping, antiques, local attractions, gourmet restaurants, local crafts, horse riding and the nationally acclaimed Cumberland Playhouse. Close to state parks, Watts Bar Lake, Piney and Ozone Waterfalls and Cumberland Trail.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What were the chances of finding a secret, perfect "place" to rest, be restored and cherish one's family? What do you do when you need to get away and you can't go far? You google and find Honeysuckle Cottage.... Hot tub! Fish Pond! Coziest bed! Loft for our kids! Pulley basket for the kids! All the "Farm and Fun" we've yet to explore for our stay was much too short! (A family from our county rented both cottages and wrote this in our Honeysuckle journal)

Perfect Stay

  • 5 of 5

I just wrote a wonderful review full of details and somehow it erased, ugh! So for time sake..this was a beautiful experience from the ease of renting to check in, our entire stay to checking out. The home and it's surroundings were top notch. A screened in porch with a chaise lounge chair..I spent my afternoons curled up on the chaise..reading a book. A open deck with seating and a grill. A fire pit, hammock and yard chairs with a horse shoe pit and great open field for games like volleyball, family gathering, even weddings. The inside has an exquisite antique charm yet modern for everything you need and alot of what you didn't think about needing. All required is your food..the cabinets even have spices, oils, sprays, soaps, shampoo/conditioner., games, a bookcase of plenty to read. We only turned the tv on for a short time one evening. We enjoyed our stay so much we did not want to waste time watching tv. Relaxing in the outdoor hot tub was a beautiful experience..the lightning bugs decorated the trees while the sky boasts with starry brilliance. The master bed and bath was awesome. The bed was so comfortable and the bedding was crisp and clean! The walkin shower was great, had a sitting area if needed. A double vanity..really clean, cozy, a place for everything and everything had a purpose. The main house has a porch store that sells homemade jams, honey from their honey stations, farm raised eggs, churned butter, homemade breads with seasonal fruit and vegetables. Papa Phil cooks some pretty amazing pizza. Next visit I want to order the breakfast basket. His homemade biscuits, jam, eggs, and biscuit n gravy with fresh squeezed orange juice. Ileka and Papa Phil made our stay feel like we were family. Everything was wonderful, already planning our next trip! Definetly Recommend staying here!

One of my all time favorite places to visit

  • 5 of 5

While I'm no newbie to Grandview Mountain Cottages, I'm generally a fan of the Pinecone Cottage and have spent the majority of my vacations there. Recently I decided that I needed a change and booked a long weekend for Honeysuckle Cottage. I couldn't have made a better decision. The weekend was perfect - even for a hot 4th of July. The hot tub is located on the front porch, which has gorgeous unobstructed views of the mountains and open views of the night sky to watch the stars. Inside the cottage is absolutely beautiful. Tall, open windows - perfect for the early morning sun that floods the living room. The kitchen was fully stocked - with everything we needed to make our own meals. I loved that it had a wood burning fireplace - I cannot wait for a fall/winter stay so I can snuggle up in front of the fire. I spent an entire day lounging in the hammock just listening to the birds and bugs. At night the lightning bugs came out and lit up the woods. We took a short hike to Upper & Lower Piney Falls (about 10 min drive from the cottage - and an easy 30 min hike) with the dogs. Ilaeka & Papa Phil have done such an amazing job at making sure everything is thought of - from movies, books, kitchen utensils, to the perfect country soaps. I cannot recommend this spot enough for family/romantic vacations. Just don't forget to order one of Papa Phil's amazing pizza's (I recommend The Works)!

Owner's Response: We love our repeat guests who we have gotten to know over the years and enjoy each visit. Thanks for a glowing review of Honeysuckle Cottage! Nice that Honeysuckle pleases you as much as Pinecone Cottage did in previous visits! We try to make the cottages feel like country homes with lots of extras and glad you enjoy those added amenities. Many waterfall hikes in our area as well as lakes and rivers so lots of fun outdoor activities. Looking forward to your upcoming visit and have your "Works" Pizza on Papa Phil's schedule! See you all soon!

Dream Cottage

  • 5 of 5

For the first time in 35 years of marriage my husband and I discovered we would be without any family at the house for Christmas. Perfect opportunity to take a vacation and enjoy our favorite state! I had been a Facebook fan of Grandview Mountain Cottages and had yearned for a chance to stay here. We are cottage/cabin renters for vacations all the time but so many have been let downs once we arrived. Pinecone Cottage was NOT a let down at all! The cottage is more beautiful than the pictures, clean & inviting, perfect for relaxing, private and dog friendly! Ilaeka and Papa Phil are wonderful hosts and pour their hearts into their business. The view from the deck is stunning, even the warmer and wetter Christmas weather did not bother us! We can't wait to book another trip! Be sure to purchase a jar of their honey from the Farmhouse Porch.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review! We love it when folks say the cottage is better than the photos! Honeysuckle Cottage is a beauty we agree. We so enjoyed having you all here for the holidays and glad Honeysuckle Cottage helped with empty nest holiday syndrome! Love that wide open country view and deck! (We think you meant to say Honeysuckle in the review as Pinecone is our other cottage that you said you might want to try when you come back next year). Both cottages are unique and each magical in their own ways. We have folks who jump back and forth with each different visit! Wishing you a very happy New Year and looking forward to your next visit in 2016.

Great getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had 3 days of nonstop rain, but couldn't have asked for a better place to be stuck indoors. Ilaeka has thought of so many details to make her guests comfortable. The firewood is there, the kitchen is stocked, the bed is comfortable, the soaps are exquisite, and it was the cleanest rental I have been in. Views are great and lots of room for the dogs to run. Hope to get back and sit in that hot tub!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The pictures just can't do the cabin and the view justice. This was the perfect spot for a relaxing weekend getaway. The cabin was immaculate and had everything we needed. Our dogs loved it too. We will definitely be returning.

I've never felt so at home in a vacation rental. The property is beautiful and private - the main road and other cottage are off a ways through the trees. It felt like our own little world and that was just what we wanted! The kitchen was well stocked and everything was super clean. And the pictures really don't do it justice. You can tell Ilaeka truly cares about her guests and I can't wait until I have the chance to go back.
