About Ann Jarrett

My husband and I are both educators. We enjoy vacationing with our grown children and extended family.

Ann Jarrett purchased this house in 1998

Why Ann Jarrett chose Waynesville

This is the home I grew up in. In 2008 we took a family trip with our grown children and stayed in a vacation rental home. We enjoyed cooking together and relaxing in a home. We thought this home would be great for families coming to Fort Leonard Wood for graduations and to visit family.

Simple eclectic and clean. Roomy enough for the whole family to stay.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed the whole house and fenced in back yard. The kitchen was well equipped, plenty of room to sleep and congregate. It's very close in proximity to Fort Leonard Wood which was nice. It allowed us to have plenty of alone time with our soldier yet close to the base. Close in proximity for easy shopping. While the property is a little dated and the 2nd refrigerator doesn't work that well over all we truly enjoyed our stay here it was much better than staying in a hotel. We would definitely rent this property again.

Overall, great price for the space!

  • 4 of 5

It was clean. Beds are comfortable. Dated place, cracks in walls and ceilings, squeaky doors and floor, but for the money it was really pretty good. The owners were nice and responsive. The games are all missing pieces, couldn’t get tv to work and internet is spotty at best. Kitchen is stocked and adequate. Location is really good for the base. The amount of room was a plus!

Just what we needed.

  • 5 of 5

Great stay, with plenty of room for everyone. It was close enough to the base, our graduate was able to spend the evening with us in a nice calm environment. Clean and comfortable, with everything we needed. Thanks for a great stay!

Plenty of room!!

  • 4 of 5

This is a large house with plenty of room for family to spread out. It worked well for our family. Only have it 4 stars because of the lower room being freezing cold which rendered it unusable for us. Overall, great property!

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Perfect space to visit with our soldier. We were fortunate enough to get 5 days with him due to a 4 day weekend. We picked him up and returned him daily, close to the base, easy route. So much room and everything we needed. Don’t count on the internet but I wasn’t there to be on my phone, so didn’t really matter. Nice furniture comfortable beds. Plenty of towels and a few things to get you started before you have a chance to go Shopping . Will book again if we are given the opportunity.

One mile from Old Stagecoach Stop and historical court house, community theatre, and B & B Theaters Cinema 12. One block off Historic Route 66. The square in Waynesville offers an ice cream shop, gift shops, and pubs, taverns and restaurants.

As you go east through Saint Robert to get to the main gate of Fort Leonard Wood, you'll pass the only remaining original Route 66 roadside park in Missouri, now with the addition of a military tank. Route 66 enthusiasts find our home a great base from which to explore landmarks to the east and west, as route runs right through Waynesville. Visit the scenic and historic bridge route though Devil's Elbow and envision it with trucks and cross-country traffic to understand why the Pulaski County section of Route 66 was called Bloody 66. The bluffs surrounding Devil's Elbow were once listed as one of the seven scenic wonders of Missouri.

Jefferson City, MO, the state capital is 75 miles north. There you can join historical and ghost tours at the Missouri State Penitentiary which operated from 1836 to 2004 (reservations required). The inside of the Missouri State Capital building was recently rated as being the most beautiful of all 50 United State capitals by USAToday. The drive to Jefferson City is very scenic, and takes just short of 1.5 hours.
