About this property

Serene Ocean Front cottage lets you live like a local

Due to recent changes in the law, it is illegal to rent homes on Oahu for less than 30 days. This house will be reserved for your exclusive use for 30 days, regardless of your actual occupancy. Some blocked dates are for my family's use and are therefore flexible and may be available for rent. Please email me with any questions at greenbreadfruit@gmail.com. Aloha, Lori

Experience Hawaii like a native!

If you awaken before 6 am, walk down the beach to the right for 1/2 mile and watch turtles sleeping on the sand. Mornings are also great for watching surfers on three reefs visible from the beach (Silva Channel, Hammerheads, Walls).

Swimming and snorkeling are exceptional year-round as the beach has a reef that protects the shore from big waves and undertow. It's perfect for children. In the evenings, enjoy a colorful sunset over the ocean. During the winter, watch for whale spouts and jumping in front of the horizon. It's no exaggeration that Mokuleia is one of the best beaches on Oahu for wildlife and natural beauty. (I don't mean to trash Sunset Beach--it's beautiful--but the traffic on Kamehameha Hwy. is terrible and the undertow is dangerous.)

This is truly a special area of the islands, remote yet only a short drive into the world-famous surf town of Haleiwa, and just a 45-minute drive to the excitement of Honolulu and Waikiki.

The lovely guest cottage on a gated beachfront lot (1/3 of an acre, large for Hawaii) is shared with the owner's home. There is an outdoor hot shower and toilet (in addition to the 1-1/2 baths in the cottage).

Free and fast Wi-Fi is available in the house and yard. There are two tandem guest parking spaces on the driveway. Guests can use the gas BBQ grill, kayak, beach chairs, boogie boards, surfboards, life jackets, snorkels and goggles, plastic beach toys, beach towels, and a beach umbrella. There is a fire pit to roast marshmallows at night (fires are illegal on the beach). You can collect driftwood on the beach to burn and there are marshmallow sticks in the pantry.

Heaven near Haleiwa
Serene landscaping. Residences are in excellent condition and amenities both for outdoor and indoor enjoyment are readily available. Had the pleasure of meeting Lori and enjoyed our conversations. Communications when necessary are direct and courteous. Wonderful community.

Hidden Gem!
Everything about this property was perfection! First off, the location was fantastic! Being close to towns like Haleiwa and Waialua was incredible, very accessible to great food and shopping, yet the secluded beach front was beyond amazing for ocean swims and snorkeling without having to fight the crowded beaches. Never saw more than 10 people on the beach. Lori was an amazing host! She was helpful with finding us restaurants and making recommendations to sites. We went deep sea fishing, caught a tuna, we brought it home, and Lori made us fresh poke, served on potatoe chips! Everything about our trip was great but this property made our stay, amazing! We will be back, hopefully sooner than later :)

Right on the ocean,
We had a great month here with our family. The condo has everything we needed to be comfortable and the grounds are beautifully maintained. The outdoor shower was better than the indoor one! So great. There were lots of beach items to use and we added to the stash. Be careful of the coral at low tide. We watched lots of surfers, turtles, and local guys foiling, we also saw lots of fish and the snorkeling was great. We will absolutely return and fully recommend. Just fyi there isn’t a tub and the layout to get to the bedroom doors is like a hallway/ washroom. We just missed the tub with our little ones, but I get that it takes more water.

Fantastic beach cottage
Other than having to take a minute to figure out how to get in to check in the property was fantastic. It is hard to beat a 100 foot walk from the door to the beach. Body boards and beach chairs were supplied and in great condition. Made good use of the outdoor shower. If I had to made a complaint it would be that you could only use the washer once every three days. For a large family that can be difficult to manage but just plan accordingly.

Outstanding!
This cottage is steps away from a spectacular and secluded beach. It was incredibly clean and well stocked with amenities. Lori was a great host and readily responded to our questions by text and email. We had the entire property to ourselves; it was comfortable and oozed the charm of the islands. Location provided easy access to numerous attractions and was a cozy haven at the end of busy days. Mahalo!

About the host

This has been my family's home since the early 60s. The houses were built by my parents and the property will always stay in my family. It's on a third on an acre, which is large by Hawaiian standards, especially for beachfront property. My mother was a gardener and the yard is filled with fruit trees (breadfruit, papayas, bananas) and native plants. We lovingly care for the houses and grounds. It's our sanctuary, and you will find rest here, as well.

Why they chose this property

Our beach is truly exceptional for its beauty and privacy. It's great for snorkeling and swimming because there's a reef that protects the beach. We live on a private one-lane residential street that is quiet (except for the occasional wild chickens).

What makes this property unique

This is the place for you if you want to sit and read on the beach, or be more active. You can hike at Kaena Point, walk or jog on the street, swim and snorkel with turtles directly in front of the house, skydive at Dillingham Air Field, watch polo on Sunday afternoons from April to September, or ride horses on the beach and mountain trails. You can also take surf lessons in Haleiwa (4 miles away) or go up the Anahulu River on a standup paddleboard. The options are endless!
