Karpacz and Krkonose Mountains

The Giant Mountains is a mountain landscape with an alpine character, which is characterized by roundish bare peaks, deeply cut valleys, steep slopes and fascinating Frnsichten. The Schneekoppe massif, with its 1602 m high peak, is the highest mountain in Central Europe north of the Alps, which is remembered up there. Like the Hohe Rad (1509 m), the Große Sturmhaube (1424 m), the Veilchenspitze (1471 m) and the Reifträger (1362 m), the Koppe lies on the ridge, which extends approximately in a west-easterly direction. This mountain chain is the backbone of the Giant Mountains and pushes its irrefutable stamp on it. The main ridge marks the border between Poland and the Czech Republic. It forms the watershed between the Elbe and the Oder. The ridge is about 35 km long and runs from the Przelecz Szklarska in the west to the Pomezni boudy in the east. Karpacz lies at the foot of the Schneekoppe, which can be seen from here and can be climbed with or without lift assistance. It is the most famous climatic health resort in the Polish part of the mountains. As a settlement on the 'Krummen Hübel', between the little ones and the Great Lomnitz, the place was first mentioned in 1599. At that time, lumberjacks, coalfish and herdsmen lived here. Only in the 17th In the 19th century, the trade that made the place famous was the production of herbal medicines. The 'lab technicians', as the herbalists called it, brought it to considerable prosperity. The place in 600 - 800 m altitude is weitau anderander-pulled. The pilgrims to the St. Lawrence chapel on the Schneekoppe, which was inaugurated in 1681 - the first visitors to the Giant Mountains - already stopped in Krummhübel. From the small Koppe, which can be reached in 15 minutes by chairlift, it is only 30 to 45 minutes walk to the Schneekoppe. The most famous sight worth seeing in the village is the Wang church. The wooden church was built at the beginning of the 13th Built in the 1970s in southern Norway. The Prussian King Frederick William IV had the church, which was to be demolished because of dilapidated, bid and bring to Berlin, where it should be built on the peacock island. Through the mediation of the Countess von Reden from Buchwald (Bukowiec) the church came to Karpacz and was inaugurated in 1844.

The hiking possibilities

The Giant Mountains is a hiking paradise. The trails, on their sometimes ancient routes, are excellently marked both in the Polish and in the Czech part and can be easily combined. Their texture is different. On stony, steep and uncomfortable sections should be set. In the lower regions one encounters beech and mixed forests, further up spruce determine the landscape. On wet biotopes, mountain meadows and in the hollows of former glaciers you can still admire rare plants. In order to protect the flora and fauna of the Krkonoše Mountains, in the 1920s the area around the snow pits, populated by many rare birds, was declared a nature reserve. Today there is a national park on both the Polish and the Chechen side. A hike on the Kammweg in 1. 300 to 1. 500 m altitude is the highlight of a Giant Mountains stay because of the magnificent views. Connoisseurs recommend the direction from Szrenica in the west to the frontier piers in the east, because the scenic beauties increase from west to east and the mountains get higher and higher. The cottages, hospitable wooden houses where you can spend the night, are characteristic of the Giant Mountains and enjoy great popularity with hikers and skiers. The better quality is offered by the cottages on the Czech territory. Car and hiking maps, as well as travel and hiking guides, which you are welcome to use, are available in the apartments. However, we ask you to treat these with care, so that other guests will enjoy it as well.

The winter sports

The Giant Mountains offer good winter sports for both downhill and cross-country skiers due to its relative snow-reliability. Some chairlifts have been renewed in recent years. T-bars are constantly adding new ones. They are significantly cheaper than in the German Mittelgebirge and the Alps. However, they are hardly yet working together, but this is also z. Zt. U. a further developed with EU funds. In Karpacz you can take the chairlift up to the mountain station on the Kleine Koppe (1. 350 m). From here, a challenging track leads to 2.6 km in length and 500 m difference in altitude to the valley station. In the vicinity of the Strzecha Akademicka (small building) begins another descent of moderate difficulty. From there you can also take the sledge down to the valley. There are ski lifts from the Strzecha Akademicka and more than a dozen more around Karpacz. The best conditions for cross-country skiers are in the cross-country center Jakuszyce (Jakobsthal) near the Czech border, where the well-known 50 km long 'Piasten' cross-country skiing starts.

The weather

The average temperature (day and night) Night) is in the summer between 15 and 18 degrees C, best hiking weather. The higher you go, the cooler it gets. The temperature drops by half a degree per hundred meters in altitude and is 8 to 9 degrees Celsius on the Schneekoppe in summer. In the autumn and winter months, there is often an inversion weather situation. Then slopes, mountain meadows and ridge trails shine in pleasantly mildly warm sun, while the valleys sink into thick, damp, cold fog. However, it can be quite stormy on the summits, especially in winter. The rainfall depends on the altitude and the sunlight. It rains more in the mountains than in the foothills. On summer days you have to expect a quick change in the weather and should have appropriate clothing in your backpack. The Giant Mountains boasts to be one of the snowiest mountain ranges in Europe. Snow depths of two to three meters on the mountains are not uncommon. The best winter sports weather prevails in January and February. Spring begins in April, in the ridge in May or June. The summer months and September / October bring the best hiking weather

The environment

15 km from Karpacz lies Jelenia Gora, the gateway to the Giant Mountains. The distances from Prague to Prague are 160 km, to Dresden 180 km, to Wroclaw 120 km and are thus ideal for excursions, which are also offered by local operators. In addition, in the Bohemian-Silesian triangle between Jelenia Gora, Walbrzych (Waldenburg) and Trutnov (Trautenau) there are a variety of scenic and cultural attractions. These include the Captain's House in Jagniatkow (Agnetendorf) as well as Grüssau Monastery (Krzesow), the castles Hohenelbe (Vrchlabi), Fürstenstein (Ksiaz) and Kynsburg (Chojnik) and places like Schömberg (Chemsko Slaskie), Johannisbad (Janske Lazne) or Trutnov. In addition to the Schneekoppe, the large and the small pond, the many rock formations worth seeing and some romantic waterfalls, one of the natural beauties is the unique landscape of the Aderspach rock city.

Sehr gute Ausstattung der Wohnung, Spitze war der Whirlpool im Bad. (Vielleicht ein paar mehr passende Deckel für Töpfe und Pfannen)

Urlaub in Karpacz

Nein!
