Casa Olaje was perfect for our family. The location is close to the beach and to the shops and restaurants, and yet quiet and peaceful. The shaded pool is lovely.

Surf Trip
Great great place to stay for Nosara surf trip. Almost as close to Guiones beach as you can get in a gated and guarded community. The house, grounds and pool were beautiful. AC in bedrooms was clutch. Wonderful fans and windows in common rooms. Host was super helpful. Cleaning service came halfway through our week. I've never had a VRBO with that. Rent the 4WD if you are driving here or anywhere in this region. Take my word for it. Easy walk to Bodhi Tree Yoga, Beach Dog Cafe and other restaurants from the house. I almost don't want to write such a great review for fear it will be reserved when we want to come again.

Beach bliss
The property was just right in every way. Walking distance to the beach with private/community access gate. Walking distance to town, but far enough away for privacy and quiet. Plenty of space, but cozy at the same time. The set up is pretty basic, but everything you need and nothing you don't. We used the kitchen to cook a few meals and had everything necessary. The pool is great. you won't be doing laps, but it's perfect for cooling off in the hot afternoon and was partially shaded so you can still hang out and avoid the sun if you want. There is a balcony above the pool area that is great for morning coffee and yoga/stretching before surf sessions. The beds are comfortable. We slept in the main bedroom at night and napped in the lower level bedroom in the afternoon as it was cooler. A/C in all the bedrooms too if you need it. Bathrooms are small, but you're on vacation in CR, so "primping" should be minimal. Showers were hot and good pressure. No flushing of toilet paper, but that's standard in CR everywhere I've been, so don't be surprised if your first visit. We did rent an ATV even though you can walk to town. The north (newer/busier) part of town is a bit of a haul, and the roads are narrow and rough. Even if you have a rental car the ATV is preferable as parking is scare in most areas. There are several rental companies, but plan to make a reservation prior to your visit if busy season. Overall, the property matches up well with the area as a whole. Enough amenities to make you comfortable, but still retains that middle of nowhere in the jungle vibe.

Great House, location and host!
We had a great time! The house was laid out great for a family. We had plenty of space and the location near the beach was awesome. Jaimy the host was very accommodating and helpful.

I built this home on a small hill after carefully observing how to maximize the sun and wind to provide comfort and cooling.
I spent time over many years in Playa Guiones surfing, fishing, relaxing and getting to know many local residents.
I have been spending more time in the apartment as I can work remotely. One day I may move to the “big house” ; so it was really built to 'live in' rather than as a rental property. I take pride in keeping the house updated, clean and well functioning, fully stocked with kitchen supplies and linens.
I am the property manager so the price is kept lower than average due to not having to pay someone monthly plus commissions.
I understand that most of the newer properties are “luxury” with every new amenity. My house is well equipped, comfortable, spacious, airy, clean…it is NOT “LUXURY”. It is designed for people who relish the outdoor spaces and the beach rather than sitting inside most of the time. Also, without appliances that are delicate and can not take the frequent electrical surges and hard water, fewer things break and need emergency repairs. So no water dispenser in the fridge, dish washer, TV.
The house is not “child proofed”. The floors are tile, there are 5 stairs to the downstairs bedroom, and the pool is not fenced off.
Absolutely no animals of any kind, including support animals.

THE WAVES ARE CONSISTENT, 300 METERS FROM PACIFIC OCEAN, GOOD LOCAL VIBE. We built the house in Playa Guiones after coming here to surf and relax for many years. The flora and fauna always provide new experiences. PURA VIDA.

PERFECT WEATHER, WAVES, GREAT WALKING/JOGGING BEACH, FRESH FOOD.
We landscaped with lush tropical and native plants to encourage birds and monkeys to visit
We planted fruit trees and herbs so that you could enjoy as much fresh local food as possible. Help yourself. Bananas, Grapefruits, oregano are the current offerings. The lizards and birds have digested a lot of other offerings. I keep trying though.
All, just steps from the Pacific Ocean.
