A beautiful location to chill out and unwind. The bird life is amazing 🐦
We had a wonderful time reliving the past and learning more about the history of Rangitoto.
Loved the Rangitoto bach.
I loved the charm and location of the bach, Susan made us feel at home, and it was a wonderful relaxing stay.
Blast from the past
Our family enjoyed this get away so much we’ve booked it again for a summer escape. It was a chance to get back to basics and connect without the distractions of devices (however there was connection if required). We got to see parts of the island that you wouldn’t normally have the time to see. Great to see the bird life flourishing, we saw Saddleback, Tui, Fantail and even a friendly Takahe on our walk to Home Bay in the bush along the ridge line. The kids had little adventures on their own catching bait and playing on the pontoon at Islington Bay Wharf. Next time we’ll bring the fishing rods as there were plenty of big fish about.
The accommodation was basic classic Kiwi Bach, no creature comforts, just the bare essentials, we loved it.
An amazing way to experience what the island has to offer and make the most of the hikes and scenery when most people are off the island
A classic bach, just what we expected. A great place for walking and native bird spotting.
Everything was perfect. We enjoyed our stay so much that I wish to return there again. It was quite a hike with all our luggage but then we now know for next time :) I highly recommend staying longer than 3 days and taking in the whole Island and everything it has to offer. The bach itself was beautifully made and cosy and very homely so we felt quite at home and it was just the best time. We even manage to get some swimming done and relaxation for the remainder of our stay. I would definitely be looking at staying for a whole week or more on this beautiful bach. I miss it now that I am back on the grind at work but it was great to unwind and be taken to another era (70s). Thank you for having us there we had such a great time we just couldn't shut up about our trip that's how amazing it was even the long hike :)
