About this property

Ex Convent with 7 bedrooms close to town and super handy to mountain and trails.

Our 7 bedroom ex convent is a full Bed and Breakfast with a delicious continental breakfast served at the time you request. Please note: this is hosted accommodation. We live in a semi- separated part of the house and so will come through from time to time to clean bathrooms, collect laundry and service the areas. You have your own 4 bathrooms (2 shower rooms and two toilet rooms) , lounge and kitchenette and 7 bedrooms. The laundry is a shared space.

Stratford is a very convenient place to stay in that it is an easy drive to both Dawson Falls Visitor Center (25 minutes) or the Mountain Ski field and carpark at the end of Pembroke Road (20 minutes) , the many properties that are featured in our popular Garden festival and our wonderful attractions in New Plymouth
Our Lodge once was the local convent, home to the Sisters who used to teach at the local Primary School. As such, you will enjoy eating or relaxing in our Chapel dining room with its stained glass windows and high pitched ceiling.

Our kitchenette is mall but is packed with good appliances.There is a fridge, microwave, electric jug and most of the cook ware you need for the 2 ring hob. An electric frypan and a toasted sandwich grill are in the cupboards. On the bench is air air fry oven and an expresso machine can be taken out from under the bench. One empty cupboard with two shelves is available for storage of a small amount of packaged food.
Our one level house is easy to access from outside for those with disabilities but not easy access into the rooms for wheelchairs as doorways are narrow.
There is free carparking on site and a camera looking over the carpark and entrance door is turned on during your stay.

Shoes off please in the entrance way.
Smoking and vaping allowed outside only.
We do not charge a cleaning fee so expect the kitchen to be left clear and things tidied and put away.
Property suitable for small children but children need supervision. A selection of age suitable toys and books and games is provided but our board game collection is not for young children.
Use of drugs on the property will result in a request to vacate immediately.

A Fabulous Host
The property suited our family group extremely well as we toured Taranaki. Freindly welcoming host that looked after us very well. Easy communication and Roseann went out of her way to accommodate our changing circumstances. One of the best hosts we've had.

Comfortable and friendly
Rosanne is a great host who showed us lots of kindness and provided yummy breakfasts suitable for all. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the bathrooms and kitchen spotless. It's a great spot for visiting Taranaki and we would definitely recommend staying at Cadence.

Great hosts and lovely home
We had a lovely time at the house for a family occasion - fitted all 11 of us in comfortably. Rosanne and Ross are great hosts, very accommodating and friendly, and the breakfast was great. Kids loved the added bonus on hanging out with the family pet in the yard. Perfect waking distance to town and local walks. We'll be sure to book again. Thanks so much!

My husband Ross and I are very excited to be running our very own B and B in an ex Convent. It's something I have wanted to do for a long time. I have been in the hospitality industry for 10 years at Christian camps in Auckland and in Taranaki so this was a great move for our family. One of my favourite things to do is feeding people and after that playing the new genre of board games such as Settlers, Domination and Pandemic. Unfortunately my family don't exactly share my passion so if you are in the mood to learn a new game I would probably be delighted to teach you. We have put our enormous selection of games in a dedicated place in the lodge but ask that children only use those in the age appropriate selection.

Why they chose this property

The 7 comfortable rooms and delightful lounge/dining area provide a very private , peaceful stay for our visitors. You can have as much of us as you wish; visit for a coffee and chat or get on with what you came to Stratford to do.
The rooms are simply but freshly decorated and our recent renovations look great. Each area has a vanity and a space to hang your clothes. Bedrooms 1,2, 6 and 7 have wardrobes.
The lounge can be used for dining, working, watching TV, DVD's and Netflix or for curling up with a good book or magazine.
In fine weather the small private garden area is great to drink a coffee or hang out with your friends

What makes this property unique

We really are a Bed and BREAKFAST. Let us know what time you would like to eat and we will set it out for you. Dinners are also catered for if requested. Cleaning and full linen service included in price. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate and herbals are available in the kitchen with a liter of dark blue top milk in the fridge.
Wifi is available free and reaches all of the rooms.
If you need laundry done there is a small charge for the washing machine and dryer. Please allow me to demonstrate its use. Sunshine for drying is free.
