Greenstone Retreat: an enchanting Wellness Retreat with accommodation and camping nestled among organic gardens and rainforest in Kumara, West Coast, New Zealand.
Our beautiful boutique accommodation provides an affordable refuge for you to rest and spend time with your travel companions (both human and canine). Take your dog for a walk with a mountain view, let your kids run freely through the gardens or cosy up for some board games.

Kate has lovingly restored this beautiful, quirky, spacious villa which now has a wonderful feeling and is nice and cozy with insulation, a HUGE woodburner, heaters, unique art and lots of blankets and beanbags to snuggle into.
Its a place to reflect, socialize, explore, eat, practice yoga, read and study. A place to find what you are looking for.

Greenstone Retreat is an oasis for like-minded travellers where you can meet new people and find yourself outside of the demands of day-to-day life. The affordable pricing allows diverse people to invest their valuable time and attention into a longer stay, creating a cosy feeling of community.

What’s included? Or what do I need to bring?
All beds are fully made up with linen and duvets. Towels, hotwater bottles and extra blankets are also provided. Kitchens are equipped with pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, hob, toaster, microwave, oven etc. Salt, pepper, herbs, and oil is also provided. Bring your food, milk, personal items, toiletries, games and books. It is a TV free zone to enhance your quality time and the wifi works throughout. Continental breakfast can be arranged in advance and there is a very basic wee shop for some essentials.

The Retreat has other accommodation and camping options so you may have a chance to chat with other travelers in the gardens.

Balance & Healing
Find relief as you connect with nature, birdsong and breath. We invite you to release and relax through massage, yoga, sound healing and forest walks. Our studio hosts regular holistic events in the EVOLve studio and Healing hut, so get in touch for more info..

Kumara village has lots to offer and is in a great central location to other attractions on the West Coast. Rivers, lakes and beach all within 10 minutes drive. Hokitika and Greymouth are 20 minutes, Punakaiki is an hour and the glaciers, ski fields, mountains and Westport are within 2 hours drive.

Be as relaxed or as active as you please.
Greenstone Retreat Villa is a perfectly situated base to explore the West Coast comfortably and affordably. Jump on your bike and hit the West Coast Wilderness cycle trail, go for a walk along a secluded beach or enjoy a short, scenic day trip to hotspots like the Pancake Rocks and Glaciers. Get in touch if you need a hand with Wilderness Trail transport.
The stars are great viewing and the area is a photographers dream. Not to mention the award winning Theatre Royal Hotel for a meal within walking distance.

No cashpoint or supermarket in village.
DOGS that are well behaved are welcome to stay with prior arrangement. No animals are to be allowed on the beds or furniture and please keep them close to you and under control at all times, unfenced section . On arrival, please make voice contact with Kate prior to letting your dog out of the vehicle. There hare 2 dogs (Scout and Buttons) which may be onsite and Scout spaniel is not always very good at meeting new dogs, so she will put her in her garden when you arrive. Thanks for your understanding.

Pleasant place to stay, facilities all good, there are some quirks with the place to get used to. There are campers out the back, but it is an opportunity to meet people if you want to.
