About this property

Peaceful Orchard Cottage Retreat

The Orchard Cottage is a lovely little retreat. With a 'shabby chic' quality, the style is relaxed while never compromising on comfort. Quality 100% cotton linen, a spacious bathroom with a shower over bath and towels provided. An open living space with cushion-filled French-style daybed (provides extra sleeping for 2), lots of holiday reading and a kitchenette with everything you need for preparing light meals. The style of this holiday home is quiet, comfortable and relaxed. It suits those looking for a natural retreat, there is no TV but you can enjoy your own music by connecting to the wireless speaker and if you do want to connect with the world, free wireless internet is available for your use.

The cottage is set amongst 30 acres of regenerating native New Zealand bush. It's located on Mt Tiger, a beautiful elevated space with expansive views across a large native bush reserve. A recent addition is the two side-by-side outdoor baths. This private space overlooking the native bush valley is the ultimate in relaxation. Wind down with a hot soak and some star gazing at the end of your day, or escape the heat of summer with a cool soak, they are exclusively yours to enjoy.

The feeling is worlds away from anywhere but is within a 10 minute drive of local amenities and a short drive to beaches, bush walks and many of Northland's most stunning natural attractions.
Special conditions:

Locally blended organic tea, locally roasted coffee, sugar, butter, milk and basic pantry items are included but you may also like to add a basket of local hand picked provisions ($40NZD) to complete your stay. This will be offered once your booking is confirmed.

PETS:
We are generally happy to host well behaved dogs at the Orchard Cottage, please provide details at the time of booking and wait for confirmation.

Please note the property is not fully fenced and it is expected that pets stay close to the cottage. If walking the bush track, dogs must stay on the track provided or on a lead. Inside the Cottage we ask that they stay off the furniture and out of the bedroom. It is expected they will also have their own bed or crate to sleep in. Please clean up after your dog, a separate dog bin is provided.

Ben is our resident Border Collie X, he is very accustomed to receiving visiting dogs and will generally leave guests and their owners to enjoy their stay.

Extras: Linen (included); NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave.

We're a family of three, we made the move from a desk-based city life in Wellington in 2014 to the beautiful 'winterless north', just east of Whangarei between the city centre and the stunning coastal playground of Whangarei Heads.

Down the Road is a celebration of all things local. An expression of the idea that no matter where you find yourself in this glorious country, you don't need to look very far to discover so many local treasures. Whether it's stunning sights, adventures to be had, fabulous food grown or created, or inspiring individuals with unique perspectives and stories to share.

Having traveled to other parts of the world, we've shared amazing experiences. We're now delighting in the abundance of treasure to be found right in our own backyard of Northland.
