About this property

Rustic 1800's cottage set on a sheep and beef farm

This rustic little 1800's cottage is set on an 1800 acre sheep and beef station in the Hinakura Valley, 25 minutes drive from Martinborough.

With no cell phone reception and limited wifi, it is the perfect place to enjoy quality time with each other. Linen and towels are provided so all you need to bring is your food.

There is an unmarked lawn tennis court, great sandpit for the kids and outdoor games. Guests are welcome to enjoy a walk on the farm, where there are animals to feed especially around springtime. The river is nice and close complete with a lovely swimming hole and the rugged coast line is only a 20 min drive down the road. There are also horse treks 40 mins away. If the weather isn't great there are board games available and sky tv to watch.

There is also seasonal fruit available, and our water is sourced from a natural spring.

We also offer guided hunts for both wild pigs and deer. Please enquire for more details.

We also have Aotea Homestead which sleeps 11. Please see our other listing.

Fantastic Country Getaway
Quaint little cottage with all you need to be really away from it all. Cosy with a fire. We went to watch the lambs frolic and it was perfect. Only point to note is that the road from Martinborough is closed due to a slip so you have to add another hour at least to the journey to come through a station on a bit of a tricky gravel track.

Warm and Peaceful
This little place is perfect for a get away in nature. The fire place warms the house so well, and the company of sheep brings joy. Amazing wild beach about 30min away.

Comfortable wee cottage
Was so great to have extra accommodation for our fairly large family group occupying the guest wing of the main house. Quiet and comfortable with a nice outlook over the farm paddocks :)

Quiet and quaint
Lovely stay and hosts. Loved the historic cottage with the fire keeping us warm and cozy. It was nice having a break from the internet and spending some family time together. Love Pip the dog 🐕

Quiet rural solitude .
We enjoyed the peace and quiet...gathered pine cones for the superb fire place for the evening...and ambled through the paddocks/along the riverside during the day. Good place to have a quiet read and be away from the internet.
