About this property

Crail Getaway, East Neuk, near St Andrews

DURING THE CORONA CRISIS AND BEYOND, I WANT TO REASSURE ALL BOOKED GUESTS AND ANY FUTURE ONES THAT MY HOME WILL BE CLEANED THOROUGHLY WITH ANTIVIRAL PRODUCTS AND DISINFECTED. I WILL BE FOLLOWING THE GUIDELINES FROM THE SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT.

Come and enjoy this beautiful corner of Scotland! Whether it is golf, walking, painting, outdoor pursuits or simply a relaxing break, this area has it all. Our modern, comfortable holiday home is in the beautiful, historic fishing village of Crail, peaceful and picturesque, yet only 10 miles from St Andrews.
Today, St. Andrews is recognised across the globe as 'The Home of Golf'. Whether you are looking to play the iconic Old Course or any of the other ten courses on offer, golfing in St Andrews is the ultimate ambition of many golfers. The medieval town of St Andrews offers a lot more than golf, with historic buildings, university, a huge range of bars and restaurants, not to mention its magnificent award winning beaches. In the area there are world class golf courses including Balcomie Links (2.2 mls) formed in 1786 making it the 7th oldest in the world, Kingsbarns (4.1mls) .
We are spoilt for choice with top class dining nearby, including The Peat Inn, Sangsters, The Cellar and the award winning Anstruther Fish and Chip restaurant.

Although we have two double and one twin bedrooms the house is for a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children. The lounge / dining area is open plan with 2 comfortable sofas and a large pine dining table. We have an upstairs bathroom with bath and shower and downstairs WC. There is off street parking for 2 cars.
There is a lovely sheltered, sunny enclosed garden with side access for bikes etc.
We have free, high speed, unlimited wifi, a SMART TV with full access to Netflix. There is also a wide choice of DVDs and CDs. I also have a Nespresso coffee machine with a selection of coffee capsules provided.

Great House Location & Neighbourhood
Fhiona was very friendly and proactive in all her communication’s. Check in was simple and the house was easy to find. We picked this house because it rated highly for cleanliness. I have rated it 3/5 as it did not live up to this. It was not dirty, however lacked attention, the oven which I cleaned on Christmas Eve was not nice, bearing in mind I would be cooking my family’s Christmas dinner in it.The light over the dining table was full of cobwebs and dust, as was around the bath and cistern, not sure how you can clean a bath and leave dust around the edges. Maybe a word with the cleaner would be in order, all things that should be done prior to guests arrival. The welcome pack was lovely and thoughtful. Plenty space for a family of four including parking for two cars. Close to the village and only a short walk to the Shoregate Restaurant and the Coop supermarket. The Harbour coffee shop is worth a visit too. Not far from St Andrews, for more shops restaurants and hotels. I thought long and hard about this review as it’s very personal to be told the cleaning is not up to scratch however I feel it needs bringing to the owners attention, and with a bit more effort it can be 5/5.

Lovely House in a Lovely Village
House is exactly as described and perfect for a little break. Better equipped than most holiday lets I've stayed in. Owner is proactive and responds almost instantly to any queries. Will be the first place I will look at next time I go to stay on Fife

Excellent Stau
This is a very comfortable property , beautifully presented in a quiet road, just a short walk from local shops, the beach and harbour in Crail. The owner communicated effectively and provided everything our family required for our first stay in this beautiful area of the Fife Coast. The attention to detail was outstanding and nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of useful information enabled us to explore with a young child, who loved the garden in particular. St Andrews is a short drive away and exploring the small coastal towns towards Anstruther and beyond with their interesting eateries and high quality food is possible by bus as well as car. Can’t wait to return!

I am a retired teacher who loves to come to Crail to walk along the coastal path and enjoy the nearby facilities in St. Andrews. I live in Edinburgh but although only an hour and a quarter away, this feels like a different world.

Why they chose this property

Our home is bright and comfortable for a relaxing break away from hectic daily life.
We bought our house 21 years ago from new, as somewhere to bring our kids to, where they could enjoy freedom and all the outdoor pursuits that are available in the area.
It is a very special place to us.
