The view of the ocean and coastal pasture makes guests exclaim "wow" as they enter the dutch doors of this cozy cottage.

This is a place to relax. You can watch the whales play and hear them sing at night. The cows lazily graze through the pasture below with the Big Island of Hawaii off in the distance. Sunrises and sunsets offer stunning colors across the sky. You can also appreciate the views from the comfort of your bed. We have stocked the cottage with all of the amenities you will need to make you feel right at home.

For the more adventurous, there are hikes, beaches, and waterfalls nearby. Haleakala National Park (7 Sacred Pools) is located 4 miles south of the cottage and Hamoa Beach is 3.5 miles north. A small freshwater pond is only 1/4 mile down the road.

Paradise!!!
What can we say other than we loved and wee grateful for every single second at the cottage. I was in love the moment we walked through the door! Everything was cute, clean and perfect. Mornings were peaceful as we enjoyed coffee and breakfast on the lanai with birds and butterflies. One of our sunsets included the cows! The sliding doors offering ocean views was such a treat. Sleeping to the sound of the ocean was heaven. Such a beautiful beautiful spot. I was so sad to leave!! We can’t wait to return.❤️

Cute quaint cottage
Our stay at this quaint cottage was exactly what we were looking for, while exploring Hana. The location on the cottage allowed us to explore the area well rested. The views from the lanai were breathtaking. I would recommend this listing if you are planning on exploring Hana.

Countryside getaway
The cottage was a cute and relaxing getaway on the island of Maui. After a long and windy drive on the Hana Highway, it was so nice to be greeted by this clean, relaxing, and quaint destination. Try to arrive during daylight hours though so you can find your way! Even with no A/C, it was very comfortable with the ceiling fan and windows open. The place was very clean and well-stocked with a full kitchen, beach towels, etc. You can choose to bring your own food or there are great little places to grab food in Hana a brief drive away.

Honeymoon Getaway
Cottage was really cute and the view from the balcony instantly relaxes you! Hana is definitely a sleepy beach town and this was a great place to get away for a few days!

My name is Michelle and I manage this heavenly cottage for an old family friend, Chuck. This cottage is a hidden gem which I hope you get to experience for yourself! I enjoy interacting with guests of the cottage. Their gratitude is a constant reminder of how lucky we are to call this place home.

Why they chose this property

Many of our guests return annually. They all say the photos don't do the place justice. Everyone declares the view spectacular. There are 70 acres of government preserve between the cottage and the shore. Even so, when the whales are here (Dec-Apr), you can hear them splash. Cattle and a few horses abound in the preserve, and you can watch their calf's frolic. A thoroughly restful place. The serene views and private nature of the cottage offer a sanctuary of kinds for guests.

What makes this property unique

Koali Ranch Cottage started out as a vacant lot set aside for a school house. In 1955, the Territory of Hawaii decided that it did not need a school there and auctioned it. Chuck's parents were successful bidders. The Territory insisted that the house be erected within a year. The cottage was designed by local architect John Tatum, working with island famous Val Ossipoff.
