About this property

RECROY, pet friendly, country holiday cottage, with open fire in Nedd

Recroy is a detached holiday cottage nestled on a remote hillside above the tiny hamlet of Nedd which offers breathtaking views along the western shore of Loch Nedd.

Located two miles south east of Drumbeg, the single storey accommodation is comfortable and well equipped and includes two bedrooms, a fitted kitchen, dining room and sitting room with multi-fuel stoves, and a large lean-to play area for the children for rainy days. The pretty orchard garden is a wonderfully peaceful place to spend the evening, dining or simply relaxing. Recroy provides a great holiday home for all the family, and is well placed for guests to explore the attractions of the area including the coast, hill walking, cycling and wildlife watching.

Amenities: Electric radiators with multi-fuel stoves. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, TV with FreeSat, CD, DVD, selection of books, games and DVDs. Electricity and starter pack for stoves inc. in rent. Bed linen inc. in rent. Off road parking for 2 cars. Large lawned garden. One well-behaved dog welcome at £15 per week. Sorry, no smoking. Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Town: The small crofting township of Nedd (An Nead - Gaelic for nest) is situated on the north coast of the parish of Assynt. Ancient native woods surround Nedd, which overlooks Loch Nedd, a sea loch that's home to a wide variety of sea birds, seals and otters which appear occasionally. The famous colony of puffins at Handa Island is nearby. Nedd is an excellent base for hill walkers and climbers who are keen to explore Quinag, Suilven, Canisp, Benn Stack, Arkle, Ben More Assynt, and Foinaven. Trout and salmon fishing and stalking is available by arrangement on the many hill lochs for fishing enthusiasts. The Stoer Lighthouse, the renowned garden of Kerrachar, the caves of Assynt and the incredible geological feature of 'Moine Thrust', are all within easy reach of the holiday destination of Nedd.

Comfortable cottage in a lovely remote location
We loved the house, which is roomy and well equipped. It is a good starting point to explore the northwest of Scotland. Lots of hiking possibilities, daytrips to Handa island and the Durness Highland games, Kylesku boat tours, .... the landscape around is stunning and as wild as it gets in the highlands. We will definitely return.
