An awesome, secluded Montana getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, sister, brother-in-law, and I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this Georgetown Lake, Montana, property! We started each day by drinking our morning coffee on the spacious deck while taking in the beautiful mountain views, and we ended each day taking pictures of the lovely sunsets with "Logan" (the tall and skinny lodgepole pine tree by the driveway! Okay, so we're a little weird and we give trees names!) in the foreground of the sunset pictures. The very first day, we even spotted a bear strolling along the road in the distance, which was very cool to see, especially for my sister and brother-in-law from Arizona.

But that's just the outside of the property! The pictures really do not do this home justice. The soaring cathedral ceiling and spiral staircase are truly the focal points when you walk in, but all of the log accents and the cabin décor give the home a wonderfully cozy and comfortable feel. The whole place was immaculately clean when we arrived, the kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed, and the down comforters on the beds were to die for.

Margot the host was extremely kind and helpful and very responsive to our questions about the property. We will definitely be back, that is, if there will be any open dates in the future once the word gets out about this wonderful Montana getaway!

Owner's Response: Thank You, Dana for your great review! I, too, love the "Logan" tree. It is our good luck tree and I have SO many pictures of it. I'm so glad you enjoyed your time and look forward to your return. Margot

Great house with just a slight warning!

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we had a lovely stay. The house was clean, well-appointed, and in a great location for our ski trip to Discovery.

I have just 3 suggestions for the owner/warnings for renters that I think should be out there:

1. If you are traveling here in the winter, make sure you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle with good tires! We have a large SUV WITH snow tires and BARELY made it up the driveway. There was a lot of snow and the small road coming to the house as well as the driveway were covered heavily in snow. I imagine that anyone without 4-wheel drive or good snow tires would have surely not made it up.

2. The spiral staircase in the middle of the house is NO JOKE! We had 3 small children with us and had to watch them carefully on the stairs. We had a rig up a "baby gate" so that the 1 year old we had did not go anywhere near the stairs. This is definitely something families with children and/or elderly should consider prior to booking this house. They are steep, slippery stairs.

3. I do not mind the lack of window coverings in any of the main spaces; however, bare windows in the bedrooms was both "cold" feeling and did not help with getting kids to sleep. I think the rooms would feel cozier and warm if there was window coverings/drapes that would also significantly help with putting kids to bed when it is still light out.

Overall, we had a great stay and would stay here again in another year or two when we could feel more comfortable with the staircase.

Owner's Response: Thank You, Melissa for your comments. We have rented this property on VRBO for ten years this month and this is the first or second negative comment ever received. That said, I do appreciate your suggestions. I go down there as often as I can and do not have a 4-wheel drive, but an all-wheel which I believe most going into the mountains in winter have. I am considering window coverings. Yes, the spiral staircase can be an issue for little ones. I will get a gate for the staircase. Thank You for staying with us and hope you will consider returning in the future. Margot Belden

Family ski weekend

  • 5 of 5

Amazing views of Discovery Ski Mnt quiet road. The kitchen is well stocked and the beds are very comfy. It was great to have 3 bathrooms as we had our two kids plus their wives along with 2 grandchildren. The loft room is an added bonus. We will definitely use this property again for a family ski weekend

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

Love, Love, loved the location. Exactly what my husband and I wanted. If I had to make one bad comment for me, it was no window coverings. I know we are out there and shouldn't need them but I was uncomfortable with the lack of one in the bathroom. Didn't bug my husband so I know its me being nitpicky... and resolved with a towel. 😉?

Anyway to sum it up.... Did I say I loved it yet? Beautiful surroundings, peaceful, and it just can't get better than this. Margot is great and very responsive to calls. Thank you so much for sharing your home, and the Barclay was fantastic!
