Our three bedded air conditioned peaceful holiday home has a fully equipped kitchen, two shower rooms, one ensuite. Large patio doors from the lounge and kitchen/dining area open on to the private pool terrace overlooking landscaped gardens below and the outstanding Souda Bay over to Akrotiri in the north and the White mountains to the West. Local beaches with water sports and Blue Flag status is only a10 minute drive away. Local shops and tavernas in Plaka , 2 minute drive or a 15 minute walk for the energetic

Great views!
After an amazing holiday last year at Stella Maris we decided to return this year as well. The villa is beautiful situated in Kokkino Choria with lots of things to explore in the area. App. 20 minutes walk into Plaka with several resturants, but this year we also tried the new resturant in Kokkino Chorio (app. 10 minutes beautiful walk up the hills). They serve the coldest beer in whole Crete! There is also a grocery store there, as well as in Plaka and Almyrida. Villa Stella Maris is just lovely! This year however we experienced some trouble with the pool and cleaning when we arrived, however Sally is very "on" and communicative. If you have a problem, she takes action immediately! So not really a problem at all. Except from some noise from the construction work nearby, we spent a lovely week in Stella Maris. The villa has everything you need, and the views are breathtaking. Thanks to Sally for hosting us this year also - we loved it.

Fantastic
We had a lovely week at Stella Maria. 2 adults and 3 teenagers enjoyed the fantastic view and pool area in a very rural and calm area. The house is well maintained and well equipped. 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms were perfekt for a family of our size. Perhaps a bit hard beds, but not really a problem. All facilities are well maintained. We enjoyed quality sunbeds and pool toys availeble in the basement. Despite the rural loccation it’s only a good 20 minutes walk into Plaka with several good choises of restaurants. I even walked down to Almyrida beach in the mornings (ca. 40 minutes). For shopping I would however reccomend a car. The communication with Sally was exellent. She is 100% serious and helpful. I would reccomend this villa to everyone who enjoys FABOLOUS view, a nice and cosy house, a calm area with goats greeting you (remember to close the gate, but still within a walk to restaurants. We really hope we can return to Stella Maris - we loved it! Thank you, Sally, for having us, and thanks to Fiona for maintaining the house so well. 12 points from Norway!

Crete
We just had a lovely stay at this property in Crete. The view is spectacular as is the pool area. The home was stocked with everything we needed and communication was excellent. When traveling there the first time, make sure that you are taking the low road and not the upper road. We had a rather adventurous maiden voyage. Our mapping never did want to find the proper location, but it always consistently mapped to Plaka and the journey is easy from there. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Rural Greece in a lovely villa
The villa (and the spectacular view over the sea ) is as lovely as the pictures appear, the highlight is the pool and outdoor area. The villa is cleaned to a good standard and the owner Sally is very helpfull and responds promptly to any queries. The property is about 1 km from a large village / small town , with nice tavernas , there is also a smaller village which has a mini market shop with all the neccesities and a good taverna - this is closer to the villa if you want a shorter walk. We used this taverna for takeaways on occasions as it was nice to have dinner in the outdoor dining area in the villa. It is debatable as to whether a car is required, I personally enjoy walking and the roads are fairly empty so it was a pleasent experience walking , if you don't like walking car hire is recommended , we used taxis for day trips in the surrounding area for a few days when we wanted to get out and about and visit other towns in the area. Chania Old town is definatley worth a visit.

We particularly love the diversity of the seasons and landscapes, we can be walking in the mountains in the morning and arrive at the sea for a refreshing swim in the afternoon.
Having spent most of our working lives in office environments the freedom that the outdoor life in Crete can offer is so exciting

Why they chose this property

Having travelled throughout Crete for many years we realised that our hearts were in the combination of mountains and sea so closely connected in this part of Crete. The people are so welcoming, the views and smells of the wild plants never leave you once experienced

What makes this property unique

We chose this house for its location and beautiful views over the bay but also close enough to amenities if you require them but also far enough away from the busy areas for quiet time and only 15mins walk from local tavernas and bars
