About this property

Waterside cottage in a magical setting on the Salcombe Estuary (sleeps 6 to 8)

Pipers Cottage is a beautiful creekside property, perfectly positioned in a picture postcard setting on the west side of the Salcombe/Kingsbridge Estuary. It is only a 2 minute drive from the pretty waterside town of Kingsbridge with its many shops, pubs and restaurants and just a 5 minute drive from fashionable Salcombe with its fabulous golden beaches. For the slightly more adventurous both Salcombe/East Portlemouth and Kingsbridge can be accessed by boat or kayak from the front of the cottage!
In addition, the cottage is really well positioned in the South Hams to access, not only the beaches of Salcombe, but many more favourites such as Bantham, Bigbury, Thurlestone, South Milton all approximately a 10 minute drive from the cottage door.
Historic Dartmouth is just a short drive in the opposite direction along what must be one of the most spectacular coastal routes in the country, with many more fabulous beaches en route, including, Beesands, Slapton and the award winning Blackpool Sands.
However if you do not want to venture far from the cottage there are enough things to do around the property to keep adults and children happy for days: Relax on the loungers on the sun drenched terrace; Sit on the Jetty with a coffee or a glass of wine watching the kids play in the creek and if you're lucky spot the resident Kingfishers fishing as the tide slowly comes in bringing with it our friendly pair of swans. At low tide it is possible to walk a fair distance along the creek on the shingle bed (avoid the mud) and see the clam beds and a huge variety of birdlife feeding on small crabs and shellfish. As the sun gradually recedes from the Terrace at about 7.30 ish move to the top of the “wild garden” where you will find benches and a table and chairs with plenty of terraced garden for the kids to play. You can watch the sun set over the horizon at 9.30 or so in the height of summer. Afterwards move back to the front Terrace, light the pretty rustic pantile sconces and just chill! Finally, a rowing boat (4.4 meters) is available on request; great for pottering around on the creek at high tide.

Most wonderful cottage holiday
Everything was simply perfect. It all started with our outstanding landlords Rob and Sian, who were so warm, welcoming, easy to contact and gave so many helpful recommendations. We loved Pipers Cottage and the surrounding landscape from the very beginning. The cottage is decorated in such a homely way and well equipped, especially the kitchen. Due to the weather, we didn't see many beaches but found many other wonderful things to do for example we enjoyed our walks to Salcombe. Thank you again for everything!

Wonderfully located on a tidal creek, very quiet and picturesque surroundings close to the town of Kingsbridge. Owner has a rowing boat which is available for use moored at the property. Fantastic!

A blissfully quiet retreat
Beautiful home in an amazing location. Well equipped and cosy house with super comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and plenty of entertaining space. The terrace is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy the wonderful views, the children loved roaming in the back garden picking blackberries and crabbing in the creek. A truly relaxing stay, we loved it.

We are a family of five. We bought the property after we fell in love with area and couldn't believe our luck when we found a rare waterside property next to a pretty hump back bridge just off the old coaching road between Salcombe (our favourite place ever) and pretty Kingsbridge. The property needed quite a lot of renovation when we bought it and now finally it's just how we had imagined it could be when we first saw it all those years ago. We have never let the property before as we have never had a desire to go anywhere else as it's so beautiful. However, as the children are getting older and want to go abroad we have decided to share the property so that others can enjoy it as much as we do

Why they chose this property

Because of its fantastic location and position on the water it feels as if the Estuary is even part of your own garden.
It is also central to the most fantastic beaches, lovely coastal walks and boating towns with many great restaurants and pubs. Therefore you not only have the serenity of the location but also the buzz of very trendy and upscale Salcombe and popular Kingsbridge just a stone's throw away.

What makes this property unique

With a slipway nearby, this is a great place to enjoy a water sport based holiday; or a place to just relax and enjoy the natural beauty and peacefullness of the stunning surroundings.
A great place for both families, with all the space and activities right there, or for couples wanting a quiet peaceful holiday with kayaking and walking from your own doorstep.
