About this property

Quiet Arkansas River Hideaway

Before you fall in love -- be sure that you know that this quiet, secluded piece of heaven is just a smidge more than 1/4 mile beyond the county maintenance line. (Translation:
no snow plows!) Because of that, guests are required to have a four-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle for their stay. Getting stuck on the 1/4 mile part that is not plowed could mean problems for other motorists. There is no "dig out" service. Don't let this discourage you! Adventure awaits -- just be sure to bring the right vehicle. In 15+ years of having guests year-round, and using it ourselves, we hear just how fun winter is at the cabin!

Do you have a desire for a secluded getaway? This slice of heaven is your getaway destination! Think about the constant sound of water from the stream, games, movies, outdoor fun, hiking, biking, zip lining, Royal Gorge, a trip to the Sand Dunes, and enjoying the art galleries and restaurants in Salida. This unique home is wonderful year-round!

Are you someone who appreciates and wants to show others the beauty and tranquility of this amazing, relaxing piece of heaven? Do you love the sound of a stream from any open window in the house? Come stay in our quiet, clean getaway! We LOVE it and know you (and your children or grandchildren) will too.

It is a 1200 square feet retreat, and has been detailed to make your stay comfortable and memorable.

The pet-free, smoke-free house itself has two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a living room with two futons -- all totaling two queen sized beds, two full sized beds, and two twin beds. The kitchen is fully equipped for any meal, fresh ground coffee, an apres ski treat, or family barbeque. The kitchen table sits six, with room for three more at the breakfast bar. The house sits on more than an acre, which lends itself to short or long walks, enjoying the stream (which runs year round, and is just yards from the house), smelling the fresh mountain air, sitting outside and reading a book -- or doing some artwork!

The nearby town of Salida boasts many activities: art galleries galore, indoor hot springs pool, bowling, hatchery, lakes, biking, hiking, fly fishing, white water rafting, winery, live theatre, dining, pubs, summer and holiday events, horseback riding, go-kart riding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling . . . . Do all of that -- and then -- come back to our hideaway and watch wildlife, have a glass of wine by the stream, play horseshoes or badmitten, read a book, take some pictures, see a movie, cook a feast, listen to music, and sleep to the sound of the Cherry Creek right outside your window. We have books, movies, satellite TV, and DVD capacity.

This is a year-round playground! Summer hikes, winter moonlight snowshoeing (snowshoes provided for three), mushroom hunts, and fall color photography. There is never a bad time to visit.

For parents and grandparents: Know that there are books, toys and games, a pack-n-play with crib sheets, bathroom step stool, and booster seat for a little one!

Please feel free to ask for more photos or details! Once booked, you will have access to the owner for questions, details, and any thoughts about what to do in the area.

Epic Mountain Escape
We absolutely had the BEST family vacation at this amazing mountain getaway! If you’re looking for a cabin that’s secluded and off the beaten path, this is the cabin for you! It’s tucked away in the woods! It has a creek that runs year round, and lots of room to roam and play! It’s just a short drive to the Arkansas river where we caught spotted trout! It’s close to Monarch Mountain for all kinds of fun snow activities for you to enjoy! Salida has a great hot springs that we enjoyed! Frantz Lake is close and we caught at least a dozen rainbow trout there! Tanya is the sweetest! She cared deeply about our stay, trying to make it the best experience possible for us! I can’t say enough good things about her! We will definitely be back to stay again, and would highly recommend this cabin❣️

Wish I could have stayed longer!
We had a great time at this cabin! Everything was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you could need to cook meals. The shower provided enough hot water for each family member to shower in the mornings. I loved that there were a few dvds to pick from and a piano to play. The only downside was not having an outdoor firepit to use, but it is understandable why this is not allowed. We would definitely book this location again.

Quiet get away
Nice quiet cabin on a small creek, the sound of the water is relaxing while you just enjoy nature. 2nd time going and plan on a 3rd trip soon to do some more of the many things the surrounding area has to offer.

Beautiful spot!
This was a lovely little cabin on a creek! Really picturesque and the noise from the creek was comforting and relaxing. We adored the main living room where we all hung out and played games in the evening. Finding it wasn’t too hard as long as we followed the owner’s directions. We loved Salida which is about a half hour away. My favorite part was the awesome CD collection. My husband and I had a blast with those. Will definitely recommend and go again if we’re out that way again!

I live in the Denver area, and love bringing my two children up to the cabin for weekend getaways. We use the cabin whenever we get a chance, but we also enjoy sharing it with other families! Through the years of renting out my cabin, I have met some really great people, and have "seen" families make some wonderful memories. There are many repeat guests who have made this special place a part of their family history.

Why they chose this property

The entire area offers an unlimited number of activities for couples, families, friends, and individuals. The views, the fresh air, the mountain smells, the rushing stream... how can you even narrow down the best part? As a family, we have had a number of unforgettable experiences -- from the white water rafting and ziplining to quiet family movie nights and night hikes. This area is hands down our favorite place to be... we plan our trips to the cabin as frequently as our schedule will allow... and we always have a difficult time leaving.

What makes this property unique

One of the best things about this cabin is the water! The stream and the sound of running water is truly relaxing. The house is clean, comfortable, and perfectly located for the many activities the Salida area has to offer. It is perfect for a family, an adventurer, a fisher, a hiker, a cook, a napper, a cyclist, an artist, or a reader. Salida is a slice of heaven, and we know anyone who spends any time there would agree!
