We really enjoyed our stay.
Magical little cottage
We have never been to Maui, and our AirBnB cancelled on us last minute, so we frantically found this place. I wasn't sure what to expect. I was turned on by the fact that there was a spa on the property. Sadly, I never even had time to partake in a spa treatment, but I could not have been happier with the cottage we stayed in, the beautiful grounds, the chats with the receptionists in the spa. They gave us great advice for local hiking and places to visit. I would LOVE to stay here again and recommend it to anyone. The cottage was really cozy and clean, the bed was comfortable, the windows were open all day long, and it was so extremely peaceful. I hope to go back and actually have some time to enjoy the spa. We stayed here three nights and then on the south coast six nights. I really wish we could have stayed here longer. It was cool and breezy, 15 to 20 degrees cooler than the south coast. Makawao was a really cute inviting town. It doesn't feel overly touristy like the resort towns do. It's very easy access to the road to Hana. Paia is not a far drive. You can catch glimpses of the coast through the trees from the side of the mountain. The word that kept coming to my mind staying here and in all of upcountry Maui was "symbiotic." People seemed so connected to the land and each other. Each tree seemed to breathe it's own life. Roosters and chickens roamed freely. There were goats and deer in the yard next door. Everything seemed magical.
Authentic upcountry experience
A charming and comfortable cottage and ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area. The vibe is very peaceful and relaxing. The air is crisp and the night sky amazing. The bonus of course is having the spa at your doorstep. I would highly recommend the PURIFYING PA’AKAI SPA RITUAL, and I can honestly say that it is one of the most amazing and transformative massage rituals I have experienced.
Perfect relaxing vacation, wonderful amenities
This cottage, attached to only one other rental, is immaculate, quiet, and serene. A bowl of fresh fruit, pineapple and bananas and oranges, and a tropical bouquet greeted us on the table. In the week we stayed, the fruit was replenished once, so that we could barely finish the delicious pineapple and had to leave bananas and oranges. Also, towels were replaced twice. The owners were available, as were the spa facilities, but we were left alone to come and go. The town of Makawao is a few minutes away, and no tourist destination on Maui is farther than 30 minutes. We recommend this property to couples who wish a truly serene vacation on this beautiful island.
Great place to stay away from the busy resorts / touristy areas
The Lehua cottage was clean, quiet, and a great jumping off point for our explorations around the island. It came with everything we needed and the fresh fruit, coffee and tea was much appreciated. It is in upcountry away from some of the popular areas but we found this to be a major pro as it served as a nice retreat and great place to come back to at the end of long days.
Located Close to Makawao Forest Reserve, Pi'iholo Ranch and Pi'iholo Zipline.
