The La Maddalena Archipelago, located a short distance from Corsica on the north-north coast of Sardinia, is composed of 7 major islands: 'La Maddalena', 'Caprera', 'Santo Stefano', 'Spargi', 'Budelli', 'Razzoli', 'Santa Maria' and many other smaller islets. The island of La Maddalena is the largest island, its coasts are not very high but jagged and therefore full of coves and enchanting beaches. The island is entirely covered by one of the most beautiful scenic roads of Sardinia (about 20 km.) That allows the many visitors who frequent it to reach almost all the best points of the coast and to visit all the beaches accessible from the ground, via road or on foot. It also offers the opportunity to enjoy splendid views of Corsica, the nearby Caprera, the Sardinian coasts and all the smaller islands of the archipelago.
In addition, the archipelago is known for being the last home of the Hero of the Two Worlds Giuseppe Garibaldi where in Caprera is still visible (today a museum) his home is the well known 'White House' and his tomb.
It is certainly one of the most beautiful and fascinating places in the world !!!
