About this property

Casa San Gentile, il paradiso in Italia!

Casa San Gentile

On the boarder of south Piemonte and Liguria lies Casa San Gentile with a breath taking view on the nine hills of the Langhe and the Alpes ending in the Mediterranean sea.
Casa San Gentile is a so called ‘rustico’ a 300 years old house on a former vineyard. Now it is a big house for 15 persons maximum. Because of the division of spaces, suitable for two families with sufficient privacy.

Obviously, the house is provided with all comforts. Five bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a big kitchen with all desirable machines. Under the ‘portico’ it is comfortable till late at night, also because there are no musketos. In stead there are fireflies, raptors, foxes, dears en boars.

The house lies on a slope of at least 36,000 square meters. Peace and quiet are guaranteed. Around the house there are fun (shadow) places. For the children there is a trampoline and the wonderful swimming pool. From the terrace and the infinity pool one has the most perfect view, whereby the “million dollar view” never bores. Next to the wonderful swimming pool, there is a private beach where it is fun to play tennis, beachvolley ball or football.

Around the house it already is nice to take a walk, in the area there are walking trails, but also wonderful biking tours. And perhaps the most important of this untouched area, many authentic toprestaurants and winefarms where it is a pleasure to taste the best wines of Italy and to experience the great kitchen of Piemonte (slow food).

Relaxter Familienurlaub

On lonely heights...
From the swimming pool looking down at the village of Sale San Giovanni and at a distance the one million dollar view at the Alps - amazing. Facilities in and around the venue are perfect. The rooms look groomed including the sanitation. The fit out of the casa is satifactory, the terraces in front of the villa and around the swimming pool are perfect. We have had a very good stay in Casa San Gentile and the location of the house in Sale / Ceva in well chosen in that there are a lot interesting things to see and do in the surroundings. The Riviera of Flowers, Cuneo / the Mountains, Dogliani, Barolo and the vineyards, Murrazzano to name a few. We have had good contact with the owners of the estate, they were friendly, easy to access and in case of anything popping up they acted instantly. Great service and support.

2/10 Terrible

Il Paradiso – NOT for us!
Green pool, kitchen utensils insufficient for eight people, dishwasher not working properly, mold in the house – and most disappointing an owner who did not live up to her responsibility On arrival to the property on Saturday the pool was green. The manager was present and did a treatment in accordance with the owner's instruction. Next day the pool was even more green. The manager gave the pool a shock and we were told not to use the pool for 2 – 3 hours. We did not want to take that risk and demanded therefore that a professional company should make the correct treatment. On Monday a professional company finally arrived. They added more products and and we were told not to use the pool for another 2 days. So on Wednesday we could use the pool. We contacted the owner by sms the whole time and she replied the pool was green due to thunderstorm i.e. a matter of force majeure. We demanded a fair compensation to which the owner suggested: 1) We could go to the beach (100 km away) rent some bikes and have lunch on her expense - we kindly refused 2) We could rent the villa one extra day for free – we had other plans 3) We could rent the villa one week this year or next year with a discount - which we kindly refused 4) Finally the owner offered us a compensation equal to 1/12 of the price based on the following rationale; the pool accounted for 1/6 of the investment they have made in the house and as we could use the pool for half of the periode the compensation would be 1/12. We did not think this was a fair compensation, but did not want to spend more of our holiday time on discussing the matter with the owner We rented this expensive property primarily because of the view and the pool. Yet we ended up only being able to use the pool for half of the holiday causing a lot of distress and disappointment - not at least for our four children. In addition to the above we did not find the following up to standard: 1. The house was not very clean when we arrived 2. There was mold in the older part of the house (living room) 3. Kitchen utensils was insufficient for eight people. A lot of cups and glasses were broken. We were in one of the world's best wineregions, yet not four wine glasses were alike and we had to go and buy our own 4. The dishwasher did not work properly during our stay 5. The trampolins were soft and we there was no balls for the volleyball pitch

About the host

La Dolce Vita is our theme. We are totally in love with Italy. And especially with the wonderful area of de Langhe in Piemonte.

Why they chose this property

We went searching for an authentic ‘rustico’ where there is enough space for two families to go to on a holiday. Enough peace and quiet in the middle of nature on one side. On the other side near to everyhting. To exit roads, the airport, the hospital, but also to shops, restaurants and fun activities. We found it all at Casa San Gentile.

What makes this property unique

The basis of the house is 300 years old. That is also the atmosphere it breathes. Beautiful vaulted ceilings, pretty pietre di langhe and accompanying roofs and shutters. An unique atmosphere. But that is nothing compared to the direct surroundings. An X-million dollar view with which you not only fall in love with, but stay in love with. The pittoresque Sale San Giovanni, the hills of the Langhe en behind that the Maritime Alpes. No day is the same. And one can admire this view from various terraces, in or out of the shadow or at the swimming pool that flows over into a sky of beauty.
