The commune of Meschers is located in the south-west of the department of Charente-Maritime, in the former province of Saintonge. At the heart of the Atlantic Arc, in the Atlantic South, 4 it is at the same time in the French West and the South West of France. It belongs to the canton of Saintonge Estuaire (of which it is the chief town and the most populated city) and to the district of Saintes. Until March 2015, it depended on the canton of Cozes.
