Fantastic location, but the apartment could have been better prepared

  • 2 of 5

This is a fantastic location, that almost offsets the shortcomings with the apartment. It is located steps from shops, cafes, restaurants in Le Marais district, a block from the Seine, and a 10 minute walk from Cathedrale de Notre Dame.

The apartment is only one set of steps up to the first floor, which is a plus.

The kitchen was well equipped, although we chose to eat dinners at a number of great restaurants in the area.

Assuming that the previous renter had also paid a 60 euro fee for cleaning, then I would have expected not to have seen the following:

1. appreciable amounts of mold on the bathroom window sill. I believe that this can be also be a health issue.

2. a few maintenance issues, such as a running toilet which was so noisy that we had to turn the water valve off when we went to bed.

4. the carpet and floors were dirty, as witnessed by the amount dirty water from my feet on the floor of the shower when I had a shower.

I don’t mind paying a cleaning fee, as long as the place is clean and well maintained when I arrive.

The kitchen set and carpet are tired and contrast with the excellent appearance of the kitchen and bathroom. The photos don't quite represent what we found with the apartment.

And ... for those who don't mind the 8 o'clock wake up call, the bells from the church next door will certainly rouse you from your comfortable sleep.

In short, this rental was typical of what I'm coming to expect from rentals owned and/or managed by companies who manage many properties.

Owner's Response: Bonjour Steve, We are glad you and your family enjoyed the extremely central location of our flat. We are sorry to hear, however, that you encountered a few issues during your stay. We apologize that the level of cleanliness did not meet our own high standard and we have since implemented a checklist to tend to those little areas that we may sometimes miss. If for any reason we seemed unapproachable, we apologize. With a quick phone call or email, we could have easily addressed the cleaning issue. As for the church bells, we tried to make it as evident as possible that there is indeed a church on the backside of the flat (the courtyard facing the bedroom). The bells will ring on religious holidays or for special events such as weddings. While it may take some getting used to, most guests find that this adds to the charm of being in Paris and waking up to such a beautiful view.

Cute, great location!

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was lovely! Great location, steps from the Hotel de Ville but on a fairly quiet street for the area. Cute space, lots of natural light, and we were glad to have a kitchen and washing machine. There's a market in the square in front of the apartment on Saturdays, and the shops and restaurants of the Marais are within close walking distance. We had a small issue with the shower, but the apartment managers responded promptly and came same-day to take care of it. Would stay again!

Just What We Hoped For

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was exactly what we were hoping for - very secure and in a vibrant area, close to everything, particularly Le Marais shopping, with easy links to the Metro lines. Communication was great and Josh was prompt to welcome us on arrival. Both the living and bedroom spaces were bright and clean - the bedroom with an amazing view into the church yard of Eglise St Gervais. We ended up walking everywhere and the likes of Eiffel Tower and Montmartre were definitely do-able on foot from the apartment with a good pair of shoes. Dining options were plenty in the area, and on the Wednesday there was a farmers market in the afternoon so we prepared meals in the apartment. We felt right at home and would definitely recommend/book again! Merci

Prime Location for a Parisian Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely holiday in this place and cannot wait to come back. The apartment is very centrally located, right near the Seine River, the beautiful Hotel de Ville building, and is in the trendy Marais area with all sorts of great cafes and shops. The apartment itself was recently renovated and was very clean and cosy, the perfect size for my little family of four. The big kitchen windows look down onto a square hosting a lovely farmers’ market where we were able to buy fresh produce to cook our own meals at home. The bedroom is quiet as it faces a courtyard and the view of the old church is awesome to wake up to every day. I would recommend this property to anyone visiting Paris looking for a clean and centrally located property!

A Very Good Place

  • 5 of 5

I stay here with my wife for one week in Paris. We really like the apartment, it is nice and light. The bed is good the bathroom is too. There is the TV but we do not use it because we do not find our channels. The owner is kind to us and makes us feel at home. We can walk to the Notre Dame and to the Louvre. It is a very good place.
