About this property

Gorgeous 7BR/6BA Ocean views Walk to Beach & Town

Large Private Home formerly known as the SeaSpray Inn and featured on the reality television show "The Vineyard", this large Victorian cottage built in 1872 , is perfectly situated at the head of Waban Park- a 5 minute walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk to town. From the large porch that wraps around three sides of the house, you and your guests can enjoy the expansive views of the park and of Nantucket Sound beyond, and the fireworks, Illumination Week. The seven bedrooms each have a distinctive feel and personality. Both master bathrooms have been recently renovated.

The house is just a short walk from the beach, and from Circuit Avenue at the center of Oak Bluffs and provides easy access to public tennis and basketball courts, the new bowling alley and entertainment center and numerous bike paths.

Rentals are Sunday to Sunday.

An Exceptional Home, A Wonderful Week!
If you are on vacation with a group of 14 or less, this is your ideal spot on Martha’s Vineyard. Our family rented this home for the week leading up to our son’s wedding. The home is beautifully maintained, and the caretaker greeted us on the first afternoon of our arrival to assure us that he would be a text message away, if we needed anything. The owner did the same prior to our arrival. From this home, you can literally take a 5-10 minute walk to everything; the beach, restaurants, shops, and the Oak Bluff’s Ferry. The ocean is clearly visible from the front windows of the home. You will want to spend time on the front porch, in the Adirondack chairs – which are actually rockers. All of the appliances appear to be recently purchased, and the kitchen is stocked with any gadget that you can imagine that you would want or need to use to prepare a meal. I brought with me a grinder for my coffee beans…but there was already one on the kitchen counter. Bathrooms newly renovated. Bedding that you sink into, and the open window which provides that warm ocean breeze…I could go on and on…trust me, if you are looking for a gracious stately, warm and welcoming family vacation home – you’ve found it.

Wonderful family memories for a lifetime!
What a perfect location and a beautifully appointed rental... we felt right at home! The location within walking distance and facing the ocean while also close enough to stroll downtown was fantastic. We ambled together as a family and had memories of a lifetime! The beds were all very comfortable, and the house was in impeccable order when we arrived. We'll definitely be holding our week each year, as repeat guests. Thank you so much!

Beautiful, spacious and totally relaxing
This house is the perfect home away from home. We are a family of five and were traveling with my sister's family, and there was so much space, we were all able to spread out and relax. It was the perfect way to have time together but not feel like we were completely on top of each other. There are lots of great spaces to play games and have time together, but then so many places to sneak away and read your book. The place is also just really lovely and well-kept. The rooms have tasteful, comfortable furnishings. I slept like a baby in the bedroom, and we all enjoyed the comfy couch with the great TV and ability to watch DVDs in the evening. The kitchen was really large with a nice breakfast eating area and plenty of dishes, cookware, and everything we could possibly need. There seem to have been renovations done on the place. I noticed the bathrooms seemed recently "refreshed" and overall, I found the place very clean and just generally comfortable. Finally, the location just can't be beat. It's just a short walk to Circuit Ave., so we would enjoy popping into town for a yummy coffee and bagel in the morning (be sure to go to Mocha Mott's!) and then of course the incredible, fabulous ice cream in the evening. Not great for my waist-line, but oh, so perfect for the soul! Combining that with a quick walk to the beach (lovely views from the house) and the expansive park right in front of the porch, and I just can't imagine a better setting. I will definitely be back. This was like heaven on Earth.

Great Location
My family and I spent a week at this home in Martha's Vineyard. Aside from being an ideal fit for our large group (there were 14 of us), the location was superb with regard to the short trek to Circuit Ave. and "downtown" Oak Bluffs, the tennis courts and, of course, the Inkwell beach. The breeze from the ocean across the park was an added bonus. The wrap-around porch was a dimension which allowed us to engage with fellow vacationers as they walked, jogged, cycled or drove by in their cars. There were a few glitches: The house was not clean thoroughly. Before we could settle in, we had to clean the refrigerator, stove top, oven, kitchen floor and a few other areas in the home. Also, we had frequent power failures. This happened even though we heeded the posted warning not to use the microwave and dishwasher at the same time. We called the caretaker three times but he never returned our calls (the owner does not live in the area). The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean, but they could use some updating. There were ants and a mildew type smell in one of the first floor bedrooms (twin beds) that was bothersome to the occupants of that room. The house was well furnished with enough comfortable couches, chairs, tables, desk, etc. so we were able to carve out our individual spaces for reading, TV watching, games, etc. However, some of the furnishings were soiled, especially the hammock on the porch. The slats fell out of 3 of the porch rocking chairs. It was apparent there had been an attempt to fix them. The house was advertized with 6 1/2 bathrooms, but the 1/2 bath was not operational. An upstairs bathroom door would not close completely so we made an "OCCUPPIED" sign for it. Overall, the house has lots of character and charm. There were various amenities and personal touches around the house which helped to make it feel like home. The kitchen was well stocked and a great space for our large family gatherings. We never felt cramped. The house seems to be a "work in progress". Hopefully, the owner will continue to make improvements so this house will become the real "gem" that it potentially could be.

Location, Location...and so much more!
Several of our friends and family convened at this large, gracious, immaculate home and we're already plotting our return! The expansive open views and huge wraparound porch were perfect gathering places while the massive, well-appointed kitchen was spotless, as was the entire home. The owners went to great lengths to make every detail of this historic Vineyard home our new favorite family destination. Beyond the home itself, the location can't be beat. After breakfast each day, we strolled five minutes into town for fresh apple-fritters followed by the world's first carousel, where the children vied for the famous golden ring! Being walking distance to downtown, beach and ferry, there will be no need for all of us to bring cars next time, and there will indeed be a next time very soon! Overall: beautiful, memorable and thoroughly relaxing. Highly recommend!!!
