About the property

The Napa Vacation Bungalow - Downtown Napa

City of Napa "Non-hosted" Vacation Rental license number VR09-0023.

The Napa Vacation Bungalow is a unique 4 bedroom. 2.5 bath retreat nestled a block from the Napa River in Old Town Napa. The property consists of a Main House and a private Garden Studio which are rented together as one property. (Note: There is NO additional charge for the Garden Studio - it's included!)

What does "Non-hosted" mean to you? It means you are able to enjoy the ENTIRE property by yourself without on-site hosts impacting your privacy. (The City of Napa also permits so-called "hosted" homes, where an owner is required to live on premises - think AirBnB.)

Ok, we love the so-called ‘sharing economy’ but when its finally time to relax during your hard-earned vacation, we think you'll appreciate having a whole house to yourself without well-intentioned, meddling hosts. Share a good good bottle of wine, not your vacation.

Just blocks away you'll discover world class dining (Napa's best restaurants: Morimoto's, Angele, Cole's Chop House, The Pear Southern Bistro), shopping and nightlife in downtown Napa. The Napa Valley and all it has to offer are easily within your reach. San Francisco and the Bay Area are one hour to the south.

Owned and operated by two artists who live in San Francisco, the home features beautiful, hardwood and Italian tile floors, original photography for sale, as well as lovely, tasteful touches that will be sure to tickle your senses and refresh your soul.

The entire property has been refurbished 2016.

Each bedroom has access to it's own commode and sink. Two of the three bedrooms in the Main House also share a full bath. The Garden Studio has it's own bathroom. (Not suitable for very large persons.)

Additionally, the private Garden Studio offers two french doors leading to its own deck, a completely stocked kitchenette, including refrigerator and microwave as well as it's own separate, full bath.

During your stay you'll enjoy free WIFI, a 44' flat screen TV entertainment with surround sound, iPod friendly sound system, luxurious linens, a barbecue/dining deck, a dining room that seats eight, washer and dryer, a completely stocked gourmet kitchen including gas range, blender, cuisinart, professional quality cookware, mixing bowls, microwave, ice-maker, toaster, coffee maker, plates, glasses, and utensils and off-street, covered parking. All bedrooms and living room have ceiling fans. Both the Main House and the Garden Studio have heating and air-conditioning and provide on-demand filtered water.

The property features a secluded back yard with spa/Jacuzzi and lovely Asian touches such as a huge black bamboo grove, Japanese maples, a water feature, an enormous apple tree and romantic lighting.

NOTE: Weekends, we generally have a five night minimum. Weekdays, we can offer shorter stays. We have *some* flexibility depending on many factors, so if your proposed visit doesn't fit this criteria, please do contact us and we'll review your options.

Perfect home for our group of 7.

Wonderfully located home in downtown Napa. The house had all the basics we needed, was decorated so beautifully and the outdoor area was a perfect retreat. Bill & Paul were very accommodating and responsive- a pleasure to work with. We would absolutely come back again!

Beautiful Home Right Near Downtown Napa!

  • 5 of 5

Our group loved staying in this beautiful home! The backyard was gorgeous and we loved having the garden suite for one of our couples to stay in. I appreciated the detail in which Bill gave instructions for his home, so there was no guesswork! And the house was only 5 minutes from all the yummy restaurants in downtown Napa. The driveway easily fit both of our groups cars. We wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you Bill for your hospitality and availability for us. We had a wonderful stay!

Perfect Napa bungalow!

  • 5 of 5

This home was so clean and detailed and full of character. We loved the beautiful outdoor patio area that was so open and charming and even had a perfect hot tub to enjoy. I couldn’t think of a better place to stay. The surrounding area was lovely and many things were walkable along the river - Oxbow Public Market, for example, was a nice 20 min walk to grab a coffee or a pint. Thanks so much for a lovely weekend getaway!

Privacy in the city

  • 5 of 5

Our whole family was impressed with the pleasant and comfortable accommodations. It was the perfect setting for our family get-together. The cottage in back afforded a little extra privacy and was enjoyed immensely. The layout and decor was very calm in its feng shui and made everyone feel at home. Thank you Bill and Paul for a great place to stay.

Great place close to downtown

  • 5 of 5

I came to Napa for my 50th birthday with my husband and some friends. The Napa Bungalow was perfect for the our group, close to downtown and easy to get to vineyards and other activities. We did have a small issue, but the owners were on top of fixing the problem quickly. The only negatives would be to have window dressing in the sun porch for those who will use the pull out couch and to have a fire pit because the backyard is a great place to hang out in the evening. We would love to book the house again on our next trip.

About Bill Davis

Both Bill and Paul are artists who live in the Bay Area. Bill is a full-time photographer and Paul works at the University of California San Francisco directing research projects. As an alternative to the buzz of the big city, they love the peace and quiet of Napa. Bill loves to cook and both love to sample good wine. In their spare time, they survey the back roads of Northern California on their motorcycles and love to go motorcycling and camping in their Airstream. They designed the Napa Vacation Bungalow to be as comfortable and relaxing as possible and figured that if it met their expectations, chances are, it would meet other's. So far, it's been a great success. Almost everyone that visits says the property is much more beautiful than the pictures on the internet led them to believe. Practically everyone seems to fall in love with the peaceful, attractive setting. Seriously -- read the reviews! Bill and Paul are excited to have you stay at this oasis while you visit this amazing area. They welcome everyone and they're supportive of marriage, for everyone, and families, of all kinds.

Bill Davis purchased this bungalow in 2007

Why Bill Davis chose Napa

Bill and Paul visited friends in Napa and fell in love with Napa's geographic beauty, world-class restaurants, wineries and its proximity to San Francisco. They searched for many months to find the perfect home. The Napa Vacation Bungalow turned out to be an ideal location balancing privacy with access by foot to downtown Napa shops, spas and restaurants. With so much within walking distance and wine tours available to pick you up from our home, you can enjoy an auto-free vacation!

What makes this bungalow unique

Guests who stay at the Napa Vacation Bungalow say the pictures on the web don't do it justice! They find the home peaceful, relaxing and quiet, with everything possible provided and that they'd come back in a heartbeat.

We've strived to create a special place that isn't fussy or uptight and doesn't feel like a rental but feels like your home might feel. We've created a place that we love to visit when we can and we reasoned that if we really liked it, others would too. And it worked! We are always thrilled when guests arrive at our house and we watch the reaction on their faces as they see the property for the first time. It's always fulfilling and reassuring to know that guests are totally delighted with their selection. That is the start of a memorable vacation! Please visit our website (see link below).

Guestbook comments from the owner

As a professional travel writer, I spend countless days each year flying around the world and inspecting vacation destinations like hotels and boats for reports in magazines. It never ceases to amaze me how many of these places are nothing like their advertisements. So many properties out there are all marketing and no substance.

I was thus both relieved and pleased to see that the Napa Vacation Bungalow was exactly as advertised--cute, safe, comfortable, and a short walk to town. The rental process was handled professionally, the house was fantastic, and my vacation was terrific.

I was in Napa for my 40th birthday with a group of female friends, and everyone absolutely loved the place. We had a great time touring the wineries up in the county by day, walking to gourmet restaurants in town at night, and then enjoying a nightcap in the bungalow's hot tub. Even the people who slept on the pull-out sofas were comfortable. It was an absolutely superb experience, exactly as I had hoped it would be.
