About Greg

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Tahoe in 1974 and we started renting homes in summer and winter. We soon realized it was time for us to purchase our own vacation home as our "getaway from L.A." . In 1978 we purchased an A-frame cabin and exchanged it for our condo in Bavarian Village in 1993. We have put our 'heart and soul' into making the "Ripke Retreat" just like home. You will love our extra features like our 'cool' nite lights, small hooks for hanging car keys, and a convenient dining table TV remote. We even installed an emergency 'power failure' light you will find above our hallway entrance. We love our hotel 'security safe' in our MB for securing valuables. Our valet clothing stands in each bedroom are also handy for your wardrobe. Enjoy our complimentary hot chocolate as you sit by the fire in our spacious living room. We are in our condo at least twice per year adding and upgrading amenities to assure you enjoy your stay as much as we do. Why Greg chose Bijou 1

We wanted to be close to all area attractions and not feel like we were "trapped" in a casino hotel room. The Ripke Retreat in Bavarian Village is three blocks from highway 50 and Ski Run Blvd. Minutes from beaches and skiing! We are also on flat ground which makes our condo perfect for in-season biking. The South Lake Tahoe bike path runs by the BV entrance. We enjoy riding our bikes to breakfast to our favorite local restaurants like "Ernie's" and the "Bear Cafe". We boast a rental agency (Pinnacle) that looks after our condo. We love our location in the middle of a grove of pine trees and the skyward view while we are at the pool or relaxing in the complex hot tub. We also enjoy summer dinners on our balcony so we can take in pine-scented fresh air while listening to the Blue Jays sing. In winter save yourself a long drive and catch the Heavenly Shuttle at the Bavarian Village complex entrance. You can also catch a winter "ski shuttle" boat to the north shore at the Ski Run Marina just one block west of our condo.

What makes this condo unique

Our master bedroom picture window view of Heavenly is stunning! We are only one of only three buildings boasting this view! We take pride in all our room remodels, especially the kitchen and dining area. Granite countertops extending all the way to the windows. Experience true "Tahoe ambiance" with golden pine cabinets trimmed in forest green. We placed an extra table on our balcony so you can enjoy some of your meals outside during warm summer evenings. When the weather turns cold flick the wall switch to light our gas-log fireplace. Then sit back and relax and enjoy DVD movies on our new living room 60" Samsung HD TV. For longer stays the BV community laundry is perfect. Unique to Bavarian Village is the luxurious, spacious heated pool (in season) and new 8-person, year round hot tub. Enjoy the hot tub while looking up at tall pines surrounding you. You cannot do this at stateline when you're stuck in a stuffy hotel room. Don't forget to bring the briquettes in summer to enjoy barbecues right in front of our condo on with adjacent picnic table.

FROM THE OWNERS: If you like "personal touches" and extra convenience, the Ripke Condo is for you. We just added our hand-made coat racks trimmed in hunter green. The coat rack next to the entrance door features small hooks for your car keys. And look on the kitchen table! An extra TV remote is nice to change channels while you dine. And we have framed cable channel guides in the living room and MB. You will love our indiglo nite lights and glo switches so you will never lose your way in the dark. We have them in the bathrooms too! When you get up in the middle of the night no need to blind yourself by turning on the vanity lights! During winter storms power outages are common. We even have emergency lighting for the living room and hallway for your added safety. We also may be =one of the few vacation homes with two fire extinguishers and five smoke alarms. We remind our guests that there is NO SMOKING in the Ripke Condo. If you must smoke outside please DO NOT throw your cigarette butts over our balcony railing!

Wonderful family home away from home vacation

My family had a wonderful time sharing our mini vacation for early spring break. The location was perfect for us to enjoy skiing and going to the casinos. I highly recommend this rental to all visiting the South Lake Tahoe area. I will definitely come back again in the future.

Perfect getaway felt like Home

We have been here for 10 days and we felt like Home. The Condo has all the things you need. The Area around is so beautiful, You can Walk to the Lake. It is a short drive to „The Stateline“ (Shops, Casino, etc) and also very short to The California lodge with Access to Heavenly Mountain Ski (Free Parking)

Owner's Response: We like the fact Bavarian Village is close to all venues but is still quiet and tranquil. Our biggest concern is that all VR owners are now caught up in the move to eliminate all vacation rentals in South Lake Tahoe by many upset single family homeowners. This issue is slated to be placed on the SLT November ballot. We feel condo complexes like ours in Bavarian village should not be grouped with single family homes which are part of the partying, littering and noise issues causing concern in many neighborhoods. Glad you enjoyed your stay. We hope the Ripke Retreat will be available for future guests.

Great location, nicely furnished condo!

We just had a great weekend in Tahoe! Condo was as described, everything was clearly communicated and there were no issues. There is even a high chair in the unit that we took advantage of. Could have used more snow but still had a great trip and that was due in large part to the accomadations, thanks Greg!

Wonderful stay!

We came in for our anniversary weekend trip. We had 7 people total and everyone slept comfortably. This is such a beautiful property and maintained perfectly. We had everything we needed for cooking and toiletries were provided. This property is close to everything.

Owner's Response: Dear Stephanie; Thanks so much for your kind words. So glad everyone was comfortable on our New Leesa mattresses. We purchased our condo in 1993 so this marks the 26th year we continue to add upgrades in the Ripke Retreat. This spring we will replace our dining room table and add new carpeting in each of our three bedrooms. My wife is also urging me to have a new fireplace mantle put in that will "wrap-around" all the way to adjoining walls. We love that we have already moved our TV above the fireplace opening up significantly more space in the living room. No other unit in Bavarian Village can boast total the total number of remodels we have completed in every room! Thanks again for your stay and we hope to have you in again as our guests to experience Lake Tahoe in a different season.
