'Dear Future Guests,

As one of the most secluded and magical cabins of my time, it is with great joy that I announce how successful this weekend was. I truly enjoyed allowing Andy and Kelly to visit, opening my spacious bedrooms, luxorious hot tub, mystical hiking trails, and true peacefulness that comes with quiet solitude. Over the years now, my excitement at seeing these things never tires.

So now, as you step through my front door, I hope you realize what awaits you! From wherever you come, and whatever you left behind....it will be infinitely more difficult to return.'

Wonderful Retreat!- would Definitely Return!!!
From the moment we drove up in the parking lot till the second we opened the door and walked in - We were in love with the location, the look of the cabin and how quaint and clean everything was! Even though we had rain every day of our short vacation, it did not dampen the fun we had at this cabin. It was well appointed from the furniture to everything you could possibly need in the kitchen and the bedrooms were wonderful with great mattresses and a great night’s sleep every night. The owners of this cabin were on point and very responsive to our every need prior to our arrival , and we would all highly recommend their cabin for your mountain stay. We are already talking about coming back as soon as we can get time off & we will definitely look for availability for this cabin. The hot tub was a nice touch, even though we could only use it when it wasn’t raining as it is not covered by the deck. We are already talking about coming back as soon as we can all get time off and we will definitely look for availability for this warm and inviting cabin. We missed being able to use the fire pit because of the rain, but we left the logs we bought for the next visitors and maybe they’ll be able to enjoy it as much as we enjoyed our visit. Looking forward to return at some point to Banner Elk!

Wonderful place
This was a great cabin with everything we needed for the weekend. There was a lot of helpful info in the binder there. The bed is very comfy downstairs. Everything was very clean. If the hot tub can eventually increase in temperature for a future visit I will definitely try and book this cabin again when I go visit family. Thanks for letting us stay!

Perfect!
This cabin was clean and welcoming. The peacefulness the inside and outside of this cabin gave is unmatched. It’s a prefect unplug location. Very wooded but also able to see sky at night time. Had to contact owner for minor issue and the response was immediate and called back with follow up. Fair warning, might not be for all but, no cell service. WiFi was great and cabin did provide a land line. (Perfect for unplugging) Also in both directions paved roads can turn into dirt roads. But cabin was easy to find! Will be returning to this cabin!

David and I are Raleigh natives that enjoy retreating to the cabins as much as our guests. We are constantly striving to make the cabin more comfortable for family gatherings, fully equipped to entertain friends, and romantic enough for a getaway for the two of us. We are confident that you will fall in love with the property as much as we have!

Why they chose this property

While searching for the perfect cabin for us, I had decided that the Banner Elk area was the setting that I most enjoyed. Close to shopping and dining, but not over done or over-priced like so many nice mountain communities. The realtor showed many a cabin and there was cabin that I had truly liked, but just did not fill the desire that I had created in my mind’s eye.
There was a local “For Sale by Owner” opportunity, but I did not take it seriously because the owner had two cabins and wanted to sell them together. I had settled on one cabin and wanted to buy outright and not take on a mortgage. The gentleman agreed to meet in Sugar Grove at the post office and lead us to his cabins for sale. The first thing that struck me was how the drive up the back side of Valle Mountain was so beautiful. This is starting out on a nice tone, I thought to myself.
We pulled up the driveway and in front of the Treehouse Cabin. Nice setting, clean property, pretty cabin and then I opened the door. The symphony of falling water that welcomed me this early spring day was so overwhelming to me. My immediate thought was I must own this property and I had not even looked inside one of the cabins.
The cabins were in excellent condition and, although in need of a redecorating, provided a strong foundation on which to build. After touring Treehouse, we walked to the waterfall, along the stream, and down to the pond. The topography and natural rolling of the property was food for the soul.
On to the Bearclaw Cabin, where I was shocked to find that it had its own source of natural charm. The separate, gorgeous stream that can be seen from Bearclaw’s back deck provided its own surround sound. You can hear the stream from Bearclaw’s deck 365 days of the year. It is a healthy, vibrant courier of natural mountain water. Little did I know at the time that particular stream would be the source of our favorite family picnic spot, swimming for the kids, as well as fishing.

What makes this property unique

The Bearclaw Cabin is our family’s favorite cabin. While we enjoy the sophistication and romance of Treehouse, Bearclaw has an ease that is unmatched. The openness and closeness of the kitchen, den, and back deck make us feel like we are never far from one another and we enjoy the interaction in this comfortable, relaxing lodging. Once a meal is prepared, be it in the kitchen, on the grill, or over the firepit the transition to the dining table, the coffee table in front of the gorgeous LG flat screen to watch Downton Abby in HD, the table on the back deck to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and listen to the nearby stream, or the wooden table right off the fire pit while a fire roars make many easy options for whatever we find ourselves in the mood for. The sunken hot tub provides a perfect setting to watch the stars, enjoy the snow, or the cool mountain air. We love to make a picnic lunch then head to the stream that is a three minute walk from Bearclaw and enjoy the beauty that nature has provided.
