Premier Corner Suite: A Haven of Beauty, Comfort & Tranquility in Waikiki
About Michael Sisk
Aloha! My name is Michael and I live most of the time on the Kona Coast of Hawaii's Big Island, where I have a Kona coffee and white pineapple farm. Also on this property is my Tara Cottage, another superb vacation destination (VRBO #37172). I was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, moving to California following college. I lived and worked for many years in San Francisco as an audiologist before moving to the island of Kauai in 1991. There I hosted a B&B for 3 years, moving to the Big Island in 1994. I then hosted another B&B at beautiful Kealakekua Bay in South Kona for another 3 years while developing my coffee farm upslope at the 1000 ft elevation-- where I live today.
Michael Sisk purchased this Condo in 2007
Why Michael Sisk chose Waikiki
I love my rural live on the Big Island! However after more than 15 years living in Hawaii, I found it becoming both too time consuming and too expensive to continue my 2-3 visits per year to mainland cities for my necessary 'urban fixes.' Yes, 'island fever' is a realty for most of us transplants from the mainland! So I decided to focus on Honolulu as my urban escape, and this led to the purchase of my apartment at the Waikiki Banyan condo hotel in June of 2007. Though occasional trips to the mainland are still necessary and enjoyable, I can now frequently visit Honolulu and enjoy my apartment and its superb location-- whenever it is not serving as a beautiful vacation destination for my guests, that is! As an avid swimmer I love my apartment's proximity to the beach--just two blocks away. And for long and beautiful walks, nearby Kapiolani Park is another bonus. Also given my dependence on an automobile on the Big island, my ability to get around in Honolulu completely by foot or bus is a refreshing and increasingly economical change of pace!
What makes this Condo unique
I am a die-hard movie buff. And following so many years enjoying the cinematic benefits of first Washington, D.C. and then San Francisco, I found the lack of cinema on both Kauai and the Big Island to be quite the disappointment-- to say the least (thank God for Netflix)! In Honolulu I never miss the Hawaii International Film Festival in October and their Spring Festival in April. And I also travel to Maui each summer for the Maui Film Festival--with their wonderful open-air Celestial Cinemas! When festivals are not around I still have opportunities to see independent and foreign film(my favorites) in the movie houses in Honolulu. And let's not forget Movies on the Beach during many weekends in Waikiki. And did I mention that I am an avid swimmer and also appreciate live theater and musical events? Honolulu excels in these areas as well.

Great condo in excellent location
Michael’s property is exactly as advertised. It’s very spacious with a breathtaking view of the city. In addition, it is in the perfect location for walking to the beach, getting something to eat, and catching a bus anywhere in the city. My son stayed with me a couple of nights and was very comfortable on the pullout bed located in the couch.
Michael was wonderful, everything was as listed. Convenient access to everything from walking in Waikiki to driving .
Booking a private condominium was a nerve wrecking experience as we had a bad experience before.
However, as soon as I contacted Michael, my thought changed. He had manners. Very polite and respectful. His instructions were clear. When we checked into the condo, we were pleasantly surprised how well decorated it was. Very comfortable sofa, and I think the room is the most conveniently located room on the floor too. Waikiki Banyan was only a block away from Waikiki beach. It was easy walk for us to get to anywhere on the Waikiki strip.
Everything was good! I would definitely want to come back and stay at Michael's condo.
Only thing was that I usually like firmer mattress but the one in condo was a very soft one. My wife did not have complaints and it's only a personal taste.
I would recommend his place to anyone who's willing to stay close to Waikiki beach without paying insanely high parking fees. It was all free at his condo.
Perfect location, awesome condo!
The condo was perfect for our first visit to Oahu. The location was great and we were able to walk every where we needed the first several days (even walked to Diamond Head!). The free parking was a great perk once we did get a car. We didn't spend too much time in the condo, but it was clean, cool and had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend!
Great location, great perks
Close to the beach with all the amenities to make life easy while visiting Oahu. Beach chairs and mats, fully-stocked kitchen and a great view!
Great place to stay in waikiki
Would not hesitate to recommend Michael’s condo to other travelers. Convient location, free parking was wonderful, well stocked towels to use, full kitchen, and very clean. Air conditioner very quiet and was grateful to have cable TV and free WiFi. Michael responded to all my questions quickly. I will definitely return
My Diamond Banyan apartment at the Waikiki Banyan condo hotel is an easy stroll to all Waikiki attractions: 1-2 blocks from both Kuhio Beach and Queen's Beach (the 2 most easterly of the beaches that make up 'Waikiki Beach'); 3 blocks from the Honolulu Zoo and the entrance to beautiful Kapiolani Park; and one block to famous Kalakaua Avenue, the 'Rodeo Drive' of Honolulu.
A stroll west along Kalakaua Ave. will take you past the two of the most famous and historic of all Waikiki resort hotels: the Moana Hotel, the 'First Lady of Waikiki' that opened its doors to the public in 1901; and the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, the 'Pink Palace of the Pacific' that opened its doors in 1927. Enjoy the shops and restaurants at these two flagship resorts, and then continue your stroll west past the multitude of designer shops and fine restaurants for which Kalakaua Ave. is so well known.
You will also pass the entrance to the famous International Marketplace--just 5 blocks from my Diamond Banyan apartment and popular as the most affordable place to shop and bargain for almost anything you can imagine. The maze of shops and stalls in the Marketplace are fun places to shop for gifts for yourself and to take home for family and friends.
Churches, supermarkets, and budget to moderately priced shops and restaurants may be found along both Prince Kuhio Ave.-- one block parallel to Kalakaua Ave. and a cross street of the Waikiki Banyan; and Kapahulu Ave. 3 blocks to the east of the Banyan. Both areas may easily be reached on foot or by trolley or bus if you prefer.
Trolley and bus stops are within one block of my apartment and provide frequent and affordable transportation to other, more distant island attractions: the Ala Moana Shopping Center, Ward Center and Movie Complex, the Academy of Fine Arts, the excellent Bishop Museum, beautiful Iolani Palace, Chinatown, Pearl Harbor---just to name a few!
