Protected by the gently rolling Carpathian mountains, the charming historic village of Richis offers an Old World experience not to be missed. Visit UNESCO historical monuments, medieval towns and villages nearby, in a region that has earned the “Natura 2000” label. Quiet streets host a local tavern just 500 metres from the property, all in all a very peaceful place that is perfect for exploring, with activities such as bird-watching, hiking and mountain biking on the menu.
Biertan, 5km away, is home to many historic monuments and fascinating architectural wonders, including the UNESCO World Heritage listed Church of Biertan. Both this town and the neighbouring city of Medias, some 20km away, feature many striking churches and synagogues. Be sure to bring your camera to memorialize and identify the many centuries’ worth of architectural styles displayed throughout.
This area is also the heart of Transylvanian wine country – no self-respecting globetrotter would leave without touring a local vineyard, and sampling a glass of the recommended vintage!
