About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Experience the magic of San Miguel de Allende at The Fiesta Casita, which is conveniently located very near MEGA and Pollo Feliz: Hospital de la Fe is just a short distance. A fifteen minute flat walk past the Longhorn Steak House, the Maple Bakery, and many local shops and restaurants takes you to the Instituto de Allende and Parque Juarez; ten more minutes, more shops and restaurants, and you are in El Centro where you can enjoy many of the art galleries and music venues San Miguel has to offer. If you prefer to ride, taxis are at your front gate and buses are just three short blocks away.

The Fiesta Casita is part of Villas de Allende, a small, gated condominium community designed and built in Mexican Colonial style that offers 24 hour security, private secure parking for owners and guests, an attractive swimming pool and cabana courtyard area and ample green areas with naturalized ponds.

The Bedroom has a king-size bed with a very comfortable mattress and a desk. Two large closets are custom designed (hanging and drawer space) for ample clothing storage. A small balcony overlooks a lovely water feature.

The Living Room is attractively, colorfully and comfortably furnished. A flat screen, LCD TV has satellite service with US broadcast and Canadian channels among the 100 available. The dining table seats six with comfortable and colorful 'equipal' chairs.

The Kitchen is completely equipped with purified water, a full size refrigerator, smooth top electric range, coffee maker, juicer, and blender. There is also a large pantry, lots of cabinets and a separate washer/dryer closet.

The 'Rojo Oxido' (Red) Bathroom features handmade, painted Mexican tiles and an extra large walk-in shower with plenty of water pressure and hot water.

Step out from the dining room to the ample deck with breathtaking views of San Miguel and the Parroquia. It is wonderful for dining, cocktails and just plain relaxing. A spiral staircase provides easy access to the large private rooftop patio that is also comfortably furnished, beautifully landscaped and available for your enjoyment.

Maid service is provided once a week. Everyone at Villas de Allende is helpful and friendly. You will soon feel at home.

Enjoy the Magic of San Miguel de Allende which was named a World Heritage City by UNESCO in July, 2008!!!

About Chris DeLay

We are a retired couple who live in Seattle, Washington when we aren't traveling and enjoying our lovely casita in San Miguel de Allende. We love our little home away from home and are willing to share it with guests who will treat it with care and respect.

Chris DeLay purchased this condo in 2010

Why Chris DeLay chose Zona Centro

We visited San Miguel de Allende for the first time in January 2010 and fell in love with both the town, the neighborhood and the condo complex of Villas de Allende. When we had the opportunity to purchase this great unit we jumped on it knowing we will always want to come back to San Miguel with all its charm, great food and the warm and friendly people.

What makes this condo unique

Our condo is in a lovely condo complex known as Villas de Allende. It is secure with a gated entry. The grounds are lovely and include a swimming pool which we love. A number of the other owners are ex-pats and all are very friendly and helpful and fun to get to know. The location is wonderful as it is within walking distance to everywhere but gives you more privacy and peace and quiet than in El Centro. The views from both the exterior and interior of the condo of San Miguel are a delight from dawn to dusk. The roof top terrace is a real bonus.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great two month's at Fiesta Casita. The condo was perfect, exactly as described. We loved the location and the 30 minute walk to El Centro was great exercise. We both lost weight due to all the healthy walking. San Miguel was an outstanding introduction to living in Mexico. Clean, safe, historic and the people are polite and very friendly and there were lots of expats to meet and share experiences with. The weather was the only downer, unusually cold and wet, the locals blamed it on El Nino. But our weekly trip to the the hot springs (La Gruta) made it feel like summer just the same. There are lots of tours available at reasonable cost and the intercity bus system is very efficent and economical. We took day trips to Guanajanto, Queratero and Dolores Hidalgo. Plus we also took art, photography and cooking workshops in San Miguel during our stay. There was always something to do. We were also especially appreciative that the condo had excellent satellite tv service with more Canadian stations than we get at home. It was a real bonus to get to watch all of the Vancouver Winter Olympics. Thanks for letting us stay in your lovely condo.

Comfortable condo but some problems.

  • 3 of 5

We stayed in this condominium the month of December 2017. The condominium was spacious for one couple with a well-equipped kitchen, good appliances, pots, pans and dishes. The knives were poor. Very comfortable bed with great sheets and pillows. The two decks were lovely with fantastic views of downtown San Miguel. The staff running the complex were excellent. The security at the gate were helpful and always watchful. We felt 100% secure the entire visit. The maid, Ana, was excellent. Ana, who manages the office , was always extremely helpful. The La Comer store a short walk away had everything we needed.

There were definitely some downsides. The couch was very stained, so we kept it covered with a blanket. It was exceedingly uncomfortable. The barbeque was not working. I cleaned it for the owners but it still did not work. We had to replace the batteries in the smoke detector in the bedroom. The smoke detector in the main area was hanging loosely from the ceiling and nonfunctional. This was reported to the owners but no action was taken. When we arrived the Internet was working very intermittently. For three days just before Christmas we had no Internet or phone at all which was reported to the owner, with no remedial action taken her or by the property manager. I made two separate trips to theTelmex Office. After the second visit a technician arrived one hour later and fixed the problem. The owner did give us a small rebate due to this issue. There was no hairdryer on arrival as advertised. After purchasing one, the owners offered to reimburse us.

The 1/2 km. walk to the main road is along an overgrown field where the locals dumped debris, including a dead dog...not a pleasant walk.

Owner's Response: We are sorry that your stay was less than perfect. Thank you for your positive comments. We had not been informed that the couch was stained or uncomfortable prior to your stay. On inspection the couch was found not to be stained at all although since it was ultra-suede it can look different in spots depending on which way it is brushed. However, the springs at one end of the couch had been damaged so the couch has been replaced. There were some issues with the internet recently as you noted until Telmex finally discovered that our line was being illegally tapped --only in Mexico! A new smoke alarm was installed after your departure and the BBQ that was not advertised has been removed . The hair dryer that was advertised was under the bathroom sink but since we thought it had been removed we had already purchased a new one so now we have two hairdryers. We asked the guest that stayed after you about the knives and he said they were fine although some needed sharpening which he was happy to do with our knife sharpener. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the field and road outside of Villas de Allende is not anything we can control. Litter is picked up periodically though not as often as one would like.

had a great time on our first visit to San Miguel de Allende. this little unit is a bit of a walk or very short Uber ride to center of colonial town with great restaurants, markets, sights and gardens. Hope to return and will be contacting the host of this place again. nice to have all the conveniences of home for cooking, laundry, TV, Netflix, pool, etc. for such a reasonable price.

The condo was very comfortable with everything I needed

  • 4 of 5

Even though this lovey condo is in a beautiful gated community with lush gardens and a pool, it is a 25 minute walk or a 15 minute bus ride to the Centro Jardin. The plus to this location is that it has a balcony and rooftop terrace to view the city night & day and is only a 10 minute walk to great restaurants and the Organica Mercado which has organic produce with three floors of vendors that offer a juice bar, coffee shop, body creams, face creams and healing tinctures from roots and mushrooms grown in the Guanajauto State of Mexico and much more. Taxi drivers are very polite and only a $2.50 fare to/from Centro, door to door.

Light-filled Condo with Incredible View!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I spent almost two months at this condo and found it very enjoyable, perfect for one or two people. Although the bathroom was a bit small the shower itself was very spacious and always had good water pressure. With windows on three sides we had loads of light coming in throughout the day. Having the terrace with table and chairs right off the dining area was very convenient. Most mornings at about 7am we were able to watch the hot air balloons take off -- once they even came quite nearby, just off the terrace where it overlooks a large, open field in the foreground of the view overlooking downtown San Miguel de Allende. Due to the strategic positioning of a mirror on the bedroom wall on my side of the bed, every night, if I left the bedroom door open, my last view would be that of this beautiful church with lights all around it. Those lights stayed on all night, truly beautiful. There was also a very spacious rooftop terrace with more outdoor furniture accessible via a spiral staircase that my husband took advantage of occasionally. The condo has 24/7/365 gated live security which made us feel comfortable with having brought our car down with us on this trip. The pool looked lovely; however, it wasn't warm enough for us to take advantage of it. The grounds-keeping by the full-time gardeners was top notch, right down to the waterfall just outside the bedroom Juliet balcony. And the beautiful indigenous potted plants continued from the front doorway, to the dining terrace and rooftop patio. Thank you, Chris, for our enjoyable stay.

Lovely, Relaxing Spot in San Miguel de Allende

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here so much we decided to extend our stay by a week! The apartment was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It was also very quiet with no road noise or barking dogs, etc. We loved being able to relax by the pool after a busy day walking around town. We also made plenty of use of the balcony and rooftop terrace and really appreciated having so much outdoor space which was for our own personal use. It took us about 20-30 minutes to walk into the centre of town but there are plenty of taxis/Ubers if you don't want to walk. There is also a selection of very good restaurants about a 10-15 minute walk from the apartment and a great cafe at the end of the road. The host was very responsive to our questions and was also very accommodating when we wanted to extend our stay. This was the perfect place for us to stay for a couple of weeks while we explored San Miguel de Allende and the surrounding area. We would definitely recommend it to friends and family!

Heaven On Earth!

  • 5 of 5

San Miguel de Allende is truly idyllic, and the Fiesta Casita was the PERFECT place to stay while enjoying this wonderful, quaint city! The condo is located near enough to the center of town that my husband and I walked to many of the places we wanted to visit. But, even if you don't care to walk, you can catch a cab at the front gate to the condominium complex and ride to the center of town for just a little over two bucks. The condo is absolutely divine! Decorated in bright colors, it's both aesthetically pleasing AND cozy. It has pretty much everything you can possibly want/need. There's no A/C, but you won't need it. With the windows open, the breeze flows through the place and you'll be quite comfortable. The view from the patio is can see the whole city, including a white-domed church that is lit up at night. There are flowers and plants everywhere outside the condo and in the complex. There's a pool and a lily pond in the shared central area of the complex, and there appears to be plenty of parking, although we didn't have a car. (You really don't need one.) The Mega (grocery store) is within a short walking distance, if you like to cook your own meals. Chris has thought of just about everything for guests. We particularly appreciated the filtered water in the kitchen and the urn for holding filtered water in the bathroom. The bed was VERY comfortable, even for someone like me (I have back problems). This place is so fantastic that my husband and I found it difficult to leave! (Not kidding...we're already planning another trip back to San Miguel de Allende for later this summer!)
