About this property

Stunning Waterfront Views and Private Pool

---Please read description and house rules before requesting to book---

Please note that the price is based upon two guests and additional guests will incur a fee of $15 per guest per night; this is to keep prices affordable for our snowbirds and to recover costs for additional wear and tear and added utilities and cleaning. If there is any chance that the number of guests may increase beyond what you have on the original reservation you need to let us know BEFORE booking. Additional guest requests will not be able to be accommodated after the request has been approved.

Please also note that we are unable to offer early check in or late check out.

From the moment you arrive at our home you'll be surrounded by spectacular water views. The open floor plan makes it easy for everyone to spend time together, but having bedrooms on either side of the house also allows for privacy.
Walk through the back door to the screened-in pool overlooking the water. The back of the house faces southwest and the pool is in direct sunlight. Enjoy a glass of wine while watching for manatees and dolphins in the canal and watch the flying fish. Bring your friends and family--the house sleeps eight with two queen beds, two twin beds, a pull out sofa bed-- and bring your kayaks and stand up paddle boards and row out to Wheedon Island Preserve and explore the mangrove trails. You can also rent jet skis for the day. The boat launch is just over a mile from the house but you can launch kayaks and SUPs from the dock at high tide. Rent a boat, with or without a captain, and get picked up at the dock.

The house is equipped with dishes and close to everything. We'll provide you with toiletries to get you started, but please know the house is self-catered so you'll need to purchase paper products and the like for the rest of your stay. Visit the vibrant and newly renovated Saint Pete Pier, just 7 miles away, and photograph the incredible billowing net sculpture, then dine at some of the Bay Area's finest restaurants. Relax at the country's top-rated beaches, including the #1 rated beach in the United States, Saint Pete Beach. Clearwater beach is also just 17 miles away. Fort DeSoto park and beach, ranked the #1 family beach, is just under a half hour away. Orlando is a 90 minute drive. If you tire of the glorious sun and sand, spend the day exploring the Dali Museum, The Chihuly Exhibit, or the Museum of Fine Arts in downtown Saint Pete, or wander through the Sunken Gardens, catch a game at Tropicana Field or catch a performance at Mahaffey Theater; all are fifteen minutes away.

Please note that for your security and the security of the property there are cameras outside at the entrances to the house and at the pool controls.

PS. If you are booking during November - April, the price to heat the pool is included in the rate. If you are staying May - October, when most guests typically would not need heat, there is an additional fee of $20 per day for the pool heat to be turned on. If the pool heat is turned on it will be set for 82 degrees and guests cannot adjust temperature. There are cameras on the controls and touching the pool controls is grounds for eviction due the the high cost of damage that can result. I will also receive alerts on my phone.

Perfect Stay
Every morning we would get up and drive to a beach, 25-45 minutes to some amazing beaches. We would retreat back to this place for late afternoon relaxing at the pool and grilling. The pool was great, clean and warm. The view of the water from the house is awesome, the dock was really fun to fish and watch the dolphins. The house had everything we needed for the stay. Host was helpful with so many tips for the area. If we go back to this area, we would rent here again!

J70 Sailors
We had a great stay while racing in the J70 World Championships at St Petersburg Yacht Club. There were no surprises, everything was as expected. Kelly was quick to respond to all our questions, the house was perfect and we had a great time. I would recommend this house to anyone visiting the area.

Fantastic Location and outdoor area
I stayed with my family for a few days on our way over to Orlando. The house was a great location with fantastic outdoor set up. The dock was very nice, and the boys fished most of the day and caught tons of fish. The pool was just the right size with a spa suitable for my smallest child. It was nice to be able to be at pool and still watch the boys fishing. We walked to Starbucks each morning and the neighbor is quaint and felt safe. St. Pete pier and nice restaurants were a short drive away. The furniture was all in good condition and the house was as shown. Finally, the owner Kelly communicated very well and was very helpful. I would definitely stay here again. It was the perfect long weekend rental.

I am an avid reader, intrepid traveler, shameless gourmet, unapologetic beer snob, and a wannabee artist / designer. I have a PhD in industrial and organizational psychology and teach executives how to mitigate their natural tendency to behave like Michael Scott.
In short, I am basically the stereotypical NPR listener. I am a fan of The New Yorker. I love cities with great food, great culture, and the great outdoors. Charleston, New Orleans, San Francisco, and of course Saint Pete are some of my favorite places to visit. I've walked the Great Wall in China, visited the oldest extant town in Denmark, gone on safari in Kenya, and been kissed on the mouth by a baby elephant in Zimbabwe. I love yoga, but do it badly and infrequently. I married a Bostonian with all of the implications that entails regarding professional sports. I own five different coffee-making devices and a milk frother (but in my defense, two are at the Saint Pete house). I believe that life is incomplete without a dog (even on vacation), and that the very best kind of dog to have is a boxer, but am willing to agree that whatever kind of dog you own is probably second best.
I'm the kind of person who takes her kids on a trip to New Orleans and surprises them with the most historically accurate ghost walk tour she could find, and who completely fails to recognize that her kids would prefer less historical accuracy and more sensationalism.
I live in DC, but have love affairs with other cities on-the-side. I enjoy nice hotels, but ones with character (e.g., The Arctic Club in Seattle, The Roosevelt in NOLA) and "divey" ethnic restaurants as well as fine dining. Independent coffee shops, bakeries, and book stores are some of the best things in life. I believe no one should ever have to drink bad coffee. I appreciate being surrounded by beautiful things and the soothing effects of being near the water. I believe in adventure, good food and drink, and sharing all of those things with others.

Why they chose this property

I chose this house for the water and the comfortable layout. I love to entertain with family and friends and I love nature. The wall of windows at the back of the house blurs the line between indoors and outdoors, and the light reflecting off both the pool and the canal is magical. In the morning I like to sit on the dock with a cup of coffee and watch for the dolphins or manatees or launch my kayak (sadly, my insurance guy won't allow me to share it with you) and paddle from the house to Wheedon. There are great photo opportunities and we've even passed manatees who like to come into the canal when the weather gets cool.

I also love the proximity to all of the cultural attractions that Saint Pete has to offer as well as the proximity to some of the best beaches in the world. I enjoy exploring the outdoors and trying new restaurants, and there are so many wonderful places nearby, including Noble Crust for upscale Italian and Southern and Mazzaro's Italian Market. The house affords easy access to Tampa as well, and is close enough to do a day trip to Disney or Universal. I also like that I can launch a stand up paddleboard or our kayak from the dock.

What makes this property unique

I love the open floor plan and the stunning views from almost every room. Swim in the pool while watching for dolphins. Take your stand up paddle board or kayak out to the nature preserve. Visit all the independently owned shops and restaurants in Saint Pete and do a tour of the murals.
