About this property

The Loft @ Lost Acres ~ A Peaceful Rural Escape on a Farm Winery!

The Loft @ Lost Acres is a wonderfully private, rural getaway! This bright and comfortable space is located on the upper floor of the Lost Acres Vineyard service barn. Originally intended for the caretaker, the owners have decided to offer it to the public to enjoy the beauty of the vines & the stunning rural scenery of North Granby. Come to enjoy over 65 acres of farmland, trails & wooded pathways. Oh, and stop by the tasting barn, the wine is AMAZING!
The Loft @ Lost Acres is a modern space located above a farm winery barn. It includes a Kitchen (fully equipped), a Living Room, the Dining area, two Bedrooms and a full Bath. There is a convenient stacked washer & dryer down the hall. The beautiful Maple hardwood floors run throughout the entire space with nine-foot ceilings in most areas and lots of windows that create a bright, cheery environment. Space is furnished with vintage furniture, cozy beds, and comfortable seating.
Guests will be able to use the entire upper floor of the building (over 1000 sq. ft.) and an exterior seating area located out on the lawn. You will enjoy views of the vineyard and the surrounding farms. Enjoy the views of the horses but please do not approach them. :)
Amenities include freshly laundered, soft cotton bedding and towels, hypoallergenic or goose down pillows. The bath has an ample supply of bar soaps, shampoos, a hair dryer and a first aid box.
The spaces are accessorized with framed artwork from local artists, mirrors, clocks and decorative items of interest. We offer a quiet, relaxing experience with smart TV, good wifi internet access and lots of books, old magazines, and games to enjoy a special time with friends or loved ones.
The Kitchen is equipped with stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave and a wine cooler. The cooler is stocked with wine which can be purchased upon request.
The Lost Acres Vineyard was awarded #3 best wine in Connecticut in 2017! The tasting barn is just steps away (Friday thru Sunday) and offers all the amenities of a great Connecticut Farm Winery.
Booking events and parties after 6:00 PM is always possible if reservations are confirmed with vineyard owners.
Our goal is to leave you to enjoy the loft and all the surrounding amenities and beauty at your leisure. We live nearby so we are always available by text or cell phone. We provide a complete list of emergency numbers in the unlikely event that you would need these services.
The Loft @ Lost Acres is located in the heart of Connecticut's best private boarding schools. 7 of the top schools in Connecticut are located within 20 miles of the property. These schools include... Ethel Walker and Westminster Schools in Simsbury; Suffield Academy and Loomis-Chaffee Schools; Miss Porter's in Farmington, Kingswood-Oxford in West Hartford and Avon Old Farms School in Avon, Connecticut.
In the 1700's Lost Acres was a political no-man's land known as "the Wedge." In the early 1800's, the Wedge's free-spirited, independent-minded, cider distilling hill farmers populated the area. Lost Acres Vineyard reclaimed this land which now contributes to the agricultural spirit and the natural beauty of Granby. The street is a designated Scenic Road with huge old oak trees, old stone walls and is a local favorite for biking, jogging and walking. Our beautiful community also offers self-serve farm stands, homemade ice cream stores, country libraries as well as upscale evening dining and art galleries. Located in an area with breathtaking views and just minutes from the best waterfalls in Connecticut! The property is surrounded by thousands of acres of hiking and walking trails, a game refuge and state forests.
See our local guidebook for more details.
Bradley International Airport is just 12 miles from The LOFT. The Hartford Union Station is 20 miles away. Please contact the owners if Uber service is required.
This is the country... an automobile is required for longer stays.

Great VRBO
Although we weren’t there much, at night we found it comfortable and peaceful to come back to each night. The bed was very comfortable and the house was clean. Had everything we needed.

Fall Rest
We had a great stay here for two nights. There are plenty of places to walk that are within a short drive. We did not have a chance to try the winery but it looked quite relaxing. We expected it and chose for this reason...but just in case you are wondering, it does take a little time to drive smaller roads to get to nearby cities.

Fabulous Country Retreat!
Our stay was in late Aug. 2023. The weather was cool and the surroundings were green with a tint of fall. Absolutely breathtaking! The area surronding the Loft is peaceful and calming. You will wake in the morning to birds singing and a horse or two neighing from a pasture close by . Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the vineyard or rest the day away in the shade of beautiful trees. The Loft is very clean, modern and beautifully furnished. You will enjoy the comfort from the moment you walk in! Our only regert is that we didn't stay longer! Ken is a FABULOUS host and will go above and beyond to insure you have a wonderful stay. (he even brings batteries for the remote when needed for that nights entertainment! Thanks!) Do yourself a favor and stay here! You won't regret it!

As Co-Hosts of the property, Dawn & Ken Kuhl will bring the same level of attention to detail that we have at Windy Top Cottage. Dawn and I are an "empty nest" couple with a love for the hospitality business and will do whatever we can to make your say as enjoyable as possible. We currently own an old Cape Cod home in North Granby, Connecticut where Dawn has a furniture restoration business and Ken has been in real estate sales for over 40 years. We love country antiques and decorating with a vintage style. Ken is involved with the local history and serves on the town Economic Development Commission for over 15 years. Please see our Guidebook for many ideas of what you can do when you stay with us.

Why they chose this property

The Lost Acres Vineyard is one of the premier farm wineries in the State of Connecticut. In 2017 it was voted the 3rd best in the entire state. The grounds are beautiful with a bucolic rural feel. The entire property has over 65 acres and besides the vineyard, there are hiking trails and opportunities to cross country ski in the offseason. Weekend guests will be able to enjoy sampling wine, enjoying light food selections, art exhibits, and live music.

What makes this property unique

Located on an official Town of Granby Scenic Road, the street is perfect for jogging, walking or biking. The guest unit is set apart from the tasting barn and is very quiet and extremely private. The owners keep a few of their horses in another barn to the rear of the guest house.
