About this property

Groovy Country Pad in a Serene Setting

IMPORTANT. This home is NOT close to Eagle Point ski resort in Beaver Utah. Read information at the end of this section below.

Stay with us and you'll think you're back in the 1970s. This home features carpet of rust and orange, and a hippie bathroom with orange sinks and an orange bathtub. Make yourself at home in a nearly 1500 Square foot pad with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a throwback kitchen, dining room and large front room. This home is ideally situated for anyone wanting to visit any of the four Southern Utah national parks. It is quiet and peaceful and the perfect spot for someone seeking a calming and recreational escape.
The kitchen has plenty of utensils for cooking your own breakfast, lunch or dinner. There is only one grocery store in town and you would be well advised to bring your own food if you intend to cook more than the basics.
WiFi and television is available.
There is also a clothes washer and dryer available. There is an uncovered patio off the back porch.
Just for fun, we've also furnished this space with a number of pieces of furniture that have secret compartments hidden in them. You are welcome to try and discover how to access the compartments.
Junction is a small, quiet town with less than 180 inhabitants. It is surrounded by mountains to the east and west. Frankly, there is not much to do or see in Junction itself, but the five national parks are a couple hours away and this location is a great home base for anyone wishing to take in a couple of them during their visit. Butch Cassidy's boyhood home is about 10 minutes away. Junction is also adjacent to the world famous Paiute ATV Trail and the perfect place to stage trail rides. The nights are cool and peaceful.
There is a picnic campground 7 miles up City Creek canyon to the west that is free and beautiful.
There is one gas station with snacks and drinks and a grocery store that offers the basics. There is a restaurant 5 miles to the south in Circleville Utah and other restaurants in Marysvale Utah 14 miles north. The nearest pharmacy is in Panguitch 35 miles to the south or in Richfield 39 miles to the north.

The property is surrounded by many southern Utah attractions, most within a three hour drive.
For Example:
Piute Reservoir: 3.8 miles, 5 minutes (US-89 North and Old U.S. 89)
City Creek Campground: 6.3 miles, 15 minutes (FR131)

ATTENTION! If you are planning on visiting the Eagle Point ski Resort, you need to know that you cannot access it from the Junction side of the mountain. It is a dirt road that is not maintained in the winter. To get to Eagle Point you have to go Interstate 15 via Utah state road 20 to the south , or you must go to I-15 via I-70 to the north. You can only get to the resort by going through Beaver Utah.

It was a fun older styled home! Located near some really cool features of Utah. The only issue was the house was cold! And it was a bit dirty and old.

Kid friendly escape
We had a blast exploring FishLake National Forest with this kid friendly home as a base. Junction is a lovely community with a well stocked General Store and a park for the kids.

The house was clean and the owners were friendly and responsive. My kids had fun figuring out the furniture puzzles around the house. It’s definitely old and has the older home quirks and smells - reminded me of staying at my grandmas place. The wifi worked and the tv was nice. It was close enough to Bryce Canyon to be a good landing place for us and it was nice to have a kitchen to prepare our own food.

About the host

Andy grew up in the Salt Lake valley but spent many summers in this valley on his Grandfather's farm and cattle ranch. He loves the area and has many fond memories. He loves to work with wood and owns Covert Furniture, a company that builds furniture with hidden compartments. He plays in a rock band and teaches grant writing. Camille grew up in Boulder Utah and enjoys spending summer days here to get away from the heat in Las Vegas, where they live. She enjoys art, writing and photography.

Why they chose this property

We owned the east quarter of this block where an old family home stands. When this property came available, we purchased it for the family to use during the summer and possibly move into later on. It would also give us more opportunities to use the land. We began to use it as a summer vacation rental, but it turned into a almost 7 years of full time rentals. After our last tenants left, we decided we wanted more control and use of the house so we turned it into a full time Vacation rental. We also decided to split it into two apartments, one for full time vacation rentals, the basement for our own use and occasional rentals if we needed to rent it out. We remodeled the other house on the block and began renting it as a vacation rental in 2017. We made this house available a year later, 2018

What makes this property unique

Some of our guests have found tranquility, healing, rejuvenation and family bonding within the walls of this 70's style home; others have found it a restful home base, a place to come back to after the diverse adventures Southern Utah offers, like a day fishing at Otter Creek, exploring Bryce Canyon, Big Rock Candy Mountain, ATV trails or the Mystic Hot springs; or taking longer explorative drives through the circle road of Highway 12 to see Escalante, Grand Staircase monument, Calf Creek falls, Boulder and Boulder Mountain, Capitol Reef to name a few. Nights are dark if the romantic moon isn’t shining; stars are visible and might shoot across the sky, and crickets and birds offer a serenade.
