About this property

Ocean Front-Amazing Ocean View Condo + Free Beach Toys

Great condo, awesome view and it includes the best selection of free beach gear in Waikiki (If you use this, it will add up to significant savings. See below for details.)

One of the best ocean view apartments in Waikiki, ideally located and the best equipped, with everything you will need to have a wonderful vacation.

It has been beautifully remodeled and decorated, with many wonderful island-style furnishings, antiques, art objects and paintings.

Guests love this condo.

The View
Most Waikiki hotel rooms and condos have side ocean views: you need to go out to the lanai to really get the full effect. This condo has fabulous ocean views from moment you enter the front door and from every room! (Please see the photos)

This is a rare unit where you can sit on the living room couch, watch TV and also watch the surfers at the famous Ala Moana surfing spots and boats going by.

In the bedroom, whether sitting up in bed, lounging in the bedroom window seat, or writing a letter at the lagoon-view desk, the view is magnificent.

To the left, you can watch the beach goers, kayakers, and stand up paddle boarders at the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon. To the right, is Ala Moana Beach Park. Looking up the coast, you can see all 4 Honolulu marinas and harbors, with sail boats and ships going to and fro, and enjoy fantastic sunsets.

And be sure to catch the torch lighting ceremony every evening at sunset along the Ilikai walkway to the beach and the fireworks over the lagoon, every Friday at 7:45 p.m. after the sailboat races. You can see them right from your lanai.

The Condo
This is a spacious, 679 sq. ft., 1 bedroom condo, complete with a full kitchen.

If you value a high floor location, with almost 180 degree ocean view, artistic island decor and lots of kitchen and beach equipment, you will agree that this is the best condo in the Ilikai Marina Building and one of the best in Waikiki.

Living Room
has a comfy leather couch, which makes into a queen-sized bed, and 2 additional chairs with ottomans. There is also an artistic chest and coffee table.

There is a big-screen, smart TV, with cable and internet, and a DVD player.

The Kitchen
is fully equipped with full size appliances: side by side fridge with filtered water & ice in the door, microwave, oven/range with flat glass cooktop, custom, deep stainless steel kitchen sink and even a dishwasher.

There are also several small appliances: blender, rice cooker, crock pot, toaster, stand mixer with dough hooks, griller, drip, French press and espresso coffee makers and a tea kettle.

There are plenty of pots, pans, bowls, tableware and silverware, including an Emerilware stainless and copper cook set, and even a picnic basket including plates, cups and utensils.

Dining Room
A lovely, hand carved teak dining set with room for 4, with everything you need to set a nice table.

Be sure to check out the shelves with numerous guide books and even a ukulele!

Bedroom
has a sliding door and can be completely closed off from the living room. This is a big advantage over a typical hotel room or studio condo. (Note: some condos in Waikiki are listed as 1 bedroom, but are actually studios with no separate sleeping area.)

The bedroom is fully furnished, including king-sized Weston Resorts Heavenly Bed, 2 night stands, a chest of drawers and 2 closets.

There are high thread count linens. We have both down pillows, and down alternatives, and a memory foam bed topper, if you would prefer it to the feather bed topper, or if you're like us, use both toppers.

There is also a unique window seat, antique, writing desk and entertainment unit with TV, radio, CD player, tape player and even a phonograph.

Bathroom
is a work of art you can enjoy from the inside. A mix of bronze, copper, stone, jade, teak, koa, bamboo and porcelain all went into making this bathroom a unique experience.

A rainforest marble slab was used to surround the custom tiled deep soaking tub.

There are 3 shower heads, rainfall, handheld and wall shower making luxurious bathing, with room for you and a friend.

Of course, there are lots of towels, basic toiletries and a hair dryer.

By the way, you can access the bathroom from a short hallway from either the living room or the bedroom. You do not need to intrude on the other sleeping area.

Other Features
A central AC system in this building, which provides very efficient, quiet cooling for this unit, without noisy fans or compressor units.

An ironing board and iron are in the closet, and there is a full card operated laundromat on the 8th floor.

Entertainment and Communications
42” big screen, smart TV.
Free, 4G Wi Fi
Second 22” TV in the bedroom.

Stereo, with radio, CD and tape player and even a phonograph player.

Beach Equipment
Just bring a T shirt, shorts and sandals.....
everything you will need to enjoy a wonderful vacation has been provided.
There are great beach toys for your use.

2 - two-person inflatable kayaks.
1 Inflatable stand up paddle /board.
2 Air mattresses and other floats.
2 Boogie boards.
Snorkel equipment for 4 plus 2 extra masks for the optically challenged.

2 coolers with wheels and luggage handles.

Picnic basket
Games/balls: bocce ball, and other assorted beach games.

6 beach chair lounges with footrests.
Beach towels.
Umbrella.
10’ by 10’ shade canopy.
Hammock.

Wagon and a magna cart to make everything easy to get to the beach.

The Ilikai Marina Building
is part of the famous Ilikai complex built by the legendary Chinn Ho and featured in both the original and new Hawaii Five-0 TV series. (In fact, one of the central characters in that series is named Chinn Ho in honor of this builder.)

You can still sometimes see the Hawaii Five-0 film crew in action, out at the point by the lagoon, or at one of the Ilikai buildings.

There is 24 hour security and video cameras on all floors.

There is a self-parking garage attached to this building with 24-hour access.

This is not a resort property, so there is no pool on-site, but there are 2 great swimming lagoons right nearby.

Location
This unit is on the 13th floor of the building. The small street in front gets very little traffic anyway, but this unit is high enough to get the great view and avoid any traffic noise.

is a relatively quiet location in Waikiki, but convenient to everything; restaurants, shopping, attractions and of course beaches.

The Ilikai Marina is on the edge of Waikiki, so, compared to the congested middle of Waikiki, it is much easier to get out to downtown Honolulu and the other attractions of Oahu.

Beaches and Lagoons
The 2 choicest beaches of Honolulu are right next to you on either side. The Ilikai walkway drops you right on the lagoon at the start of the nicest part of Waikiki Beach.

The lagoon has had a recent, $13 million make-over. The water is refreshed daily and it is surrounded with beach and it has a very shallow sloping entry, making it ideal for swimming, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking and floating.

This is the start of Waikiki Beach. From here, you can walk all the way to Diamondhead. This section, Duke Kahanamoku beach, named after the legendary Hawaiian surfer and swimming champion, has been rated as the best beach in the U.S. in one recent listing.

On the other side is the fantastic Ala Moana Beach Park. it is over 100 acres of grassy play areas, tennis courts, 3 snack bars, public restrooms, shade trees, pristine beaches and a sheltered swimming lagoon.

All that Waikiki and Oahu offers is right at your feet from this incredibly convenient location. It is easy to get where you need to go with a rental car or public transport or tour buses, which stop right nearby.

Restaurants/Bars
Located in the Ilikai Marina building are 4 good restaurants: Chart House, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and the Harbor Pub (good pizza).

The surrounding area, including the The Modern, the Ilikai Tower, Discovery Bay, the Hilton Hawaiian village and the Prince hotel, have dozens of other restaurants of all types and price ranges.

Shopping
You will be in the center of a shoppers' paradise.

Right across the street is one of the famous ABC stores, with sundries, food and beach items.

Central Waikiki is just a few moments walk to hundreds of shops; from T shirt shops to Saks 5th Avenue. In the other direction, in less than 7 minutes, you are at the Ala Moana mall, one of the biggest outdoor malls in the world, which is both beautiful and diverse.

Activities and Attractions:
There are charter fishing boats and parasailing boats at the Marina right in front of the condo. Surfing is right out front.

The nearest golf course is 2 miles away.

For travels to other attractions, be sure and check out the guide books in the condo. If you want to plan ahead, we recommend the guidebook "Oahu Revealed."

Transportation
There are airport shuttles and tour buses stop within 1 block of the entrance.

We are sure you will love this "home away from home" ocean front condo experience.

The location is good but the place is not clean and filled with piles of craps
The place is well located and has parking. However, the carpets are dirty and the place is crowded and filled with all kind of crap furniture. The closets are also filled with all kinds of personal belongings leaving no place for the guests. The fridge is filled with left over foods by previous guests. The dishwasher, the washer and the dryer are in working condition but are so old. The towels and the bed linen are not properly washed and smell badly. In short, apart from the location and the parking, the place needs improvement on cleanliness and orderliness.

Great place!
We really enjoyed our time staying at this property in early January 2020. The location was walkable to many key locations, including several beaches and swimming area. The view from the condo can’t be beat. It was convenient to have parking included, too. The condo was clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Communication with the property managers was always prompt and helpful. We’d love to stay here again if even in Oahu in the future!

About the host

Host profile image
This condo is owned by Greg and Susie of San Diego.

My wife Susie and I have been visiting Hawaii since we met. I've always heard of Hawaii referred to as being "Romance and Magic Beside the Sea" or an "Urban Fantasy" - both have always seemed true to us. I've been visiting for all my life and although there have been many changes and improvements, the essence is still the same.
Our friends, Robert and Carola Intersimone, are our guest liaisons, so please contact them with any questions you might have. Mahalo (Thanks)

P.S. Right below this, it will say on the listing that "Robert and Carola purchased this condo in 2005." That is not exactly right; it just autofills from the "contact field." Sorry for any confusion.

Why they chose this property

Over the many years of traveling to Waikiki it was very easy to narrow the choices to one of the 3 waterfront condo buildings in the main section of Waikiki. The other building had mostly side views of the ocean, while the Ilikai Marina units on the waterfront have a almost 180 degree panoramic view of the water. We are right on the marina so you get to see all the coming and going of boats and outriggers from the marina and the Ali Wai which feeds into the marina. If you look to the right you see all the way up the coast to the Waiani Mountain range and out to Barbers Point. You also see all the comings and goings from the 4 harbors that lie just up the coast for the first few miles - you are directly above the yacht harbor, the sport fishing harbor is next just past the mile long stretch of Ala Moana Beach and 100 acre of fabulous park in front of the worlds largest open mall. Next is Honolulu Harbor, then Pearl Harbor and far up the coast, Barber's Point.

What makes this property unique

This condo has one of the best views in Waikiki in a great location.

It may be the best equipped condo you can find, with free parking, loads of beach equipment, a fantastic kitchen and lots of extras.

This is a real 1 bedroom with sliding door to separate the bedroom from the living area.

As one of our guests wrote, visiting this condo, "we felt like we were in a home of a friend" rather than visiting a hotel. It has unique art and furnishings done in island style.
