Delightfully clean and secluded property in a forest
Our stay at Whispering Meadow was everything we had hoped for and more. Situated in the Monongahela forest, it is as described in the listing. You're surrounded by woods, birds, animals, a flowing river in your backyard, and the majestic mountains of course. The cabin is old, but squeaky clean. The wood-burning fireplace with a stone chimney is a nice touch, the back porch, a little piece of wooded bliss, and the front porch offering a grand view of the mountains and the meadow. If you're looking for a comfortable experience in the heart of nature, Christine's place will not disappoint. Our youngest traveling companion, a 13 month old infant baby, was at ease and super happy in this environment. This property is also conveniently located within 20 minutes drive to grocery stores and restaurants in downtown Elkins. It was easy to shop, and cook meals in Christine's well-equipped kitchen. There are quite a few hiking trails in the vicinity: within a 10 minute drive. We were unable to complete all of them. I'm looking forward to returning another time.

About the host

Host profile image
Hi,
I am a mom of four teenagers. As a family, we enjoy sharing our beautiful home with guests from around the world. We take pride in the home we have to offer. This home is a lesson in teaching our children responsibility. They play a role in managing every aspect of the property from mowing grass, cleaning the home and paying the bills.

We look forward to sharing this gorgeous home with you. It is our goal to make your stay memorable.

Look forward to seeing you soon!

Why they chose this property

Whispering Meadow has an interesting history. The original owners built the home as a vacation retreat. One owner studied meadows and leaf peepers while the other owner wrote speeches for Ronald Reagan. As second owner, we have maintained the integrity of the field study by making the meadows a protected wildlife habitat. Our children have created trails to walk and enjoy the Mystical island situated between the home and the Shaver's Fork River.

Whispering Meadow has the most perfect of scenery. One can sit on the front and gaze at the mountain view while taking in the gorgeous meadow wildflowers. The yard is manicured and kept natural. The back contains the estuary and a mystical island that take one to the Shaver's Fork River.

What makes this property unique

River, Meadow, Mountains, Goregous skyline for star gazing, estuary of waterfowl. Perfect launch for all forms of outdoor activity. Guests may register for summer tubing trips . Tubes and gear serviced by Shaver's Fork Adventures. This service is provided to our guests and is a unique opportunity. The land is abundant with wildlife and is a protected wildlife habitat.
