Set in Thornton Gore in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, this four-season log house is a rustic and comfortable get-away. Because of its rural location, guests will not find cable TV or Internet access here. Specific cell phone carriers may allow you to reach the rest of the world if you desire. The house sits halfway up a grassy knoll, surrounded by open-field farmland and the White Mountain National Forest. Johnson Brook runs next to the dirt road. The house has an open kitchen-dining area, a large living room with cathedral ceiling and a field-stone fireplace, now with a glass-door wood-burning insert.

This is a non-smoking house.

In the area: Swimming holes in the river, Mirror Lake, mountain hiking trails. Canoe and fish the Pemigewasset River; bike the valley. Major cross-country and downhill ski centers at Loon Mountain, Cannon, and Waterville Valley. In the summer, Loon Mountain provides rock wall climbing, bicycle rentals with down-hill bike trails, ZIP lines and more. The North Country Center for the Arts has a program of exciting plays and musicals in their home at Jean's Playhouse. Summer and Fall season attractions include Zip lines at Alpine Adventures, glacier caves at Lost River Resort, the famous Clark's Trading Post with the famous bear show and Wolfman. ICE CASTLES is open January-March (advance tickets only). Contact White Mountain Attractions (https://www.visitwhitemountains.com/things-to-do/attractions/) or Western White Mountains Chamber of Commerce (https://westernwhitemtns.com/) for up-to-date information.

There is a four-night minimum reservation.

Homey and comfortable
This cabin is very comfortable and works well for our group of 5. The feel is homey and cozy. We enjoy cooking for each other and the kitchen is well stocked with tools and equipment that work! The view from the sitting area is beautiful. This year the sun was in our favor and the side porch gave us a chance to sit in the sun and enjoy the fresh air. Carol and Ken are great to work with! We have been using this cabin as an escape in March to break up the spring for many seasons. The place only gets better.

Great Cabin and Host
Thank you for letting us stay at your cabin. This is our 3rd visit and we absolutely love it here! Carol and Ken are excellent hosts and the cabin is beautiful. The cabin is secluded but close enough to access everything. We look forward to staying here again and sitting next to the beautiful fireplace.
