About this property

Estate Guesthouse sleeps 8, possible 12, wifi 57mbps

note: under new management 9/2022
Luxury estate on the sandy beach of Punta Pescadero (point of the fisherman) where the sun shines 350 days per year. Enjoy world-class fishing on the Sea of Cortez where the only waves are generated by the wind. No wind and this is like a lake! No swells, no sea sickness, and no long trips in the boat. One to three hours of fishing with pick up on the beach in front of the house at 8 AM is usually enough to catch your dinner! Want fresh fish or lobster caught that morning without you going fishing, just ask and it will be delivered, and even cooked for you by private Chef Rogelio. Add a two-person guitar background to your dinner by the pool and you will truly feel you are in heaven, the hustle of life has been left behind.

Walk the beach for 'miles' without seeing anyone! No one selling anything, just walk and enjoy undisturbed nature at its best.

The house is finished with travertine floors, marble and granite countertops, marble bathrooms, and slate around the pool with palapa bar. The palapa sitting area on the beach is the place to be with a nice book to read. This is the life!

Maria will be your maid for your entire stay, washing your dishes and clothes while keeping the property immaculate. Rogelio is the manager of the property who will also be there every day to look after your needs. Rogelio and Maria speak fluent English, so no need to worry about language. Just relax and let him worry about your activities.

There are two master bedrooms with queen-sized beds. One has its own private bath and the second shares the full bath with the bunk room where four can sleep. Additional sleeping is possible on the couches or pool lounge chairs.
OPTIONAL rental of the lower floor of the main house with the extra 2 bedrooms and kitchen results in beds for 12 people. Inquire about extra costs and your needs.
**NO ONE will be in the 'main house' when you are in the guesthouse and vice versa. I adjust my trips around when there is a guest. If you rent the main house, you can also use the guesthouse.

Bring with you: passport, notorized authorization for any minor children not accompanied by both parents, sunscreen, hats, swimsuits, sunglasses, sandals, light windbreaker (December to March only), get international access for your cell phone before leaving, buy your own liquor and food on your drive from the airport. Order fresh tortillas from the village of Cardonal to be delivered daily (Rogelio, the house manager and your conscierge, arranges). Do not try to import beef or chicken into mexico. If you wish, you can ask to go to Costco on your way to the property and stock up for a long stay.

Enjoy the property and the beauty of Mexico. You will return 'walking slow, thinking slow, and talking slow' guaranteed!

Beyond Blessed
We were fortunate enough to spend a week at Casa McGann and have nothing but excellent memories to bring home with us. The location was perfect for our La Paz Sea Lion Snorkel, ATV Adventures and relaxation by pool and on the beach. Rogelio (house manager) became like family to us and as a chef, his meals were the best food that we ate during our entire vacation. Thank you Don for welcoming us to your Casita and we hope to one day return to continue making memories.

Unreal Service
I don't often leave reviews, but Casa McGann was a special experience. The guest home was more than adequate for 5 grown men. The property is nicely laid out, 5 min walk to the hotel for drinks/meals, etc. The extraordinary component of this place that sets is apart from any other I've been too, is the team that assists you during your stay. Rogelio is incredibly responsive as the House Manager, he answered my 600 questions via WhatsApp in the weeks leading up to our trip. His english is fluent, he greeted us upon our arrival, made sure the house was clean and walked us through. He also is a very good chef with professional experience in Las Vegas, HIGHLY recommend his chile rellanos, actually all of his food (we had 2 dinners, breakfast and lunch). The man is on top of everything, from food, to arranging our ATVs, to making sure the kayaks were ready. Really can't say enough... Also, Maria is fantastic, she was prompt every morning, cleaned up our mess (so no flies hanging around sink, sheets folded perfectly, etc). She also speaks english quite well, very pleasant demeanor, etc. The only setback during our stay was that the pool heater was not working. While visiting in December, the winds were high, it was quite chilly, the ocean rough, the days were short. So having the pool heated to 85 degrees was something I spoke to Rogelio about in advance, he was going to make it happen. Unfortunately, just before our arrival, the pool heater broke. I would have been suspicious of this, if I hadn't seen Rogelio on the phone, by the pool trying to fix it himself for the two days we were there. The property is somewhat remote, so getting new parts is difficult. However on our 3rd day, the heater was fixed, and we had 2 days with a very comfortable pool that become our central activity for the remainder of the trip. There are circumstances that are unforeseen, and the measure of a good owner/property manager is how they react. I could not have asked for more effort from Rogelio, he knew this was important for our group, and he eventually solved the problem. This is why I gave this property 5 stars. Thank you Rogelio and Maria! -Kris

Punta Pescadero
Punta Pescadero, while off the beaten path, is a worthwhile destination. This part of the Sea of Cortez offers some great spots for enjoying shelling, snorkeling, fishing or even diving. Everyone we encountered in this wonderful area of Mexico was warm and eager to help. Jose Maria and his wife Griselda were an absolute pleasure to work with. We experienced a few bumps throughout our trip and Josemaria went out of his way several times to make sure my family had what they needed. We would happily stay again in a home Josemaria and Griselda manage. I unfortunately just can’t say it would be at Casa McGann again.

Gorgeous house on the beach with amazing pool
LOVED LOVED our stay. My husband found some little waves to surf, the kayaks were amazing we took the kids out and I snorkeled everyday except for a beautiful rainy windy day which cooled us off. I do recommend bringing in all of your food and drinks, kitchen and grill great for cooking but the stores are far away. Take the paved road option if you don't have a 4x4 with good shocks! The AC in the house was a must and we were grateful to spend the days inside during the heat. But we were able to stay outside till 12pm and then again ventured into the ocean in the evenings. Afternoon swims in the ocean were also great to stay cool (the water and currents are cooler than the pool) and the visibility was incredibly for the fish. Right out front is a small reef and to the left and the right next to the rocks were incredible full of fish.

Paradise
This place is absolutely amazing. It's remote and should be noted about an hour from town with difficult terrain to get to, so come prepared with groceries. However, once you're there it is beyond worth it and the remoteness is incredible. The beach is pristine with incredible shell-finding. The pool is very relaxing and the property is well taken care of. The house itself is lovely and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We saw a squadron of manta rays jumping out of the water, huge lizards roaming around, a nightly parade of crabs making their way to the ocean - it was truly incredible and you felt like you were in paradise. My only wish is that our stay was longer.

I am a dentist, orthodontic educator, and I live to fish, my number 1 hobby. I found this location by being a private pilot, Punta Pescadero has the #1 paved airstrip in Baja outside of controlled airports.

Why they chose this property

The best fishing in the world, no one selling you anything, the fantastic attitudes of the locals, and of course the airstrip. I do not have a plane anymore, having crashed it in 2001 (no one hurt).

What makes this property unique

Remote elegance and luxury. Whatever you want, just ask and my house manager will make it happen.
