About this property

Superstition Views in AJ

Beautiful custom designed 3 bedroom 2 bath home with an additional fully self contained 1 bedroom 1 bath guest house. Main house is approx. 2,500 SF, and the guest house is approx. 600 sf. Built near the base of the Superstition Mountains with gorgeous views of Flat Iron. House sits on almost 3 acres of property and you will feel like you are away from it all, yet within minutes of shopping, restaurants, hiking, biking and horse riding. Gorgeous custom landscaping. Very peaceful and serene setting, letting you enjoy the quiet evenings. Relax in the hot tub next to the guesthouse. Wake up with a large window view of the majestic mountains. Blocks away from the Goldfield Ghost town which offers free admission, a saloon and restaurant, mine tours, various artists and craft shops, etc. Also blocks away from the Lost Dutchman state park which offers incredible hiking, mountain biking and horse riding. 5 Miles to Fry's Marketplace for gas and grocery shopping. 1/2 mile down the road from the Paseo wedding and event venue, and only 7 miles from the Superstition Manor Wedding and Event Center, so perfect location if you have a wedding party or group event and want to be in close proximity. 10 miles to Canyon Lake which offers stunning views along with a beach for swimming and boating. 12 miles to the unique town of Tortilla Flats. Access to freeways is approx. 15 minutes away connecting you to all of Phoenix, Tucson, Sedona, Flagstaff, etc... House offers an open floor plan with incredible windows and amazing views! Short dirt road connects you from the main road to the houses. You will truly feel you have escaped to beautiful desert settings yet can get to downtown Apache Junction in minutes. Being located so close to the Superstition Mountains in a quiet remote area tho, the internet signal is fine for basic internet but very slow for streaming or multiple users, and also due to the fact of the location and that it is on a well the water pressure is medium and the hot water does take a few minutes at the sinks. Also please do not park RVs on the property to sleep additional guests and we do not want any dry camping. Please leave maximum guests at the house to 14. Thank you!
(Please note: the home owners do not allow any wedding ceremonies or large gatherings on the property. Unfortunately we have had a couple of bad experiences with raucous wedding groups, exceeding the maximum number of guests we allow…my apologies!)
We also recommend you consider purchasing travel insurance thru VRBO in case something unforeseen delays your trip: weather, illness, plan changes etc….

Perfect! Wonderful host!
This place is the best. Mark is an excellent host. I was constantly impressed by his communication. The space is amazing. We were going for a place that really had the Southwest vibe, and this was absolutely that spot. The full moon rise was breathtaking. Hot tub can get a little scuzzy, but that might just be because of how much we used it because of how cool it is to be in a hot tub in a such a beautiful location.

great in many ways, disappointing in many ways
I want to start off by saying that Mark, the property manager, was very responsive to messages and did his best to make things right. That being said, there was a lot wrong. Some of which represented chronic issues, some of which were more timely and should have been dealt with: 1. No hot water in the kitchen (either kitchen) - we literally filled pots from the low pressure shower heads and carried them to the kitchen to do all of the dishes 2. No functional dishwasher - it didn't have enough pressure to clean 3. Poor washer/dryer - My wife had three new shirts torn in the dryer that we had to replace 4. The range was filthy 5. The main oven in the house was broken - however, I was warned off this a few days before the visit 6. Some of the burners on the range didn't work well - they were weak or emitted a strong gas odor when used 7. The kitchen was VERY poorly stocked - we actually had to screw a handle back on a pot because it was in such rough shape, and, in general, it was hard to find things in good, useable condition. 8. When the small, functional oven was used it made the house wreak of melted plastic for a while until we aired it out. 9. There were several broken light fixtures and dead bulbs throughout the house. 10. The grill barely functions - it was incredibly filthy and difficult to light. 11. The master shower didn't drain well - by the end of a shower there was a 1-2" pool of water that took about 30-60 minutes to drain.

Fun with friends
Three long-time couple friends spent a week enjoying the location, wildlife and views of the Superstition Mountains. Property manager was great to work with, responded quickly to questions. Property owners were lacking in upkeep of their house. The home is unique and could be restored to it's beauty with some TLC. After our stay, we see that the property is no longer on short-term rental on VRBO and believe property is up for sale. Do some checking before renting.

Beautiful Home
We had a wonderful stay at this house. Not only was the house beautiful but the owner was incredibly helpful. I left my cell phone and apple watch there and he promptly mailed it back to me. He didn’t even charge. We would definitely stay here again!!!

Comfortable home and great location
Really enjoyed our stay, the host was communicative and the house is very comfortable. Great location, close to amenities but also with a desert feel - close to lots of nature, birds, rabbits, even a coyote!
