About this property

Lydia's House, luxurious villa with indoor heated splash pool and Caldera view

Lydia's House, is an amazing villa of 93 m2, located among the last row of houses on the cliffs of Oia, offering a breathtaking view over the Aegean sea, the Caldera and the other cliff-edge villages either from the small causy front yard or from the private terrace above.
It used to be an old bioclimatic cave-house which Emmanouil Vasilakis, architect and owner, renovated in 2010, using high quality materials combined with the traditional methods of Santorini’s technicians. The outcome is obviously a dream house, completely adapted to the unique scenery of Santorini island, with excellent minimal aesthetic and fully functional interior spaces.

The house is designed as an open space (with open bedrooms) so that you can enjoy the astonishing view almost from every corner but also to create a visual contact between the two main areas of the interior. The lights placed on the white and colored dome shaped walls as well as the lights in the pool and the floor cavities, create a unique atmosphere.
The living room with the built sitting area, that can also be used as a bed, and a wooden monasterial dining table, is a comfortable and sunny space with an amazing view. A cavity shaped in the colored wall accommodates the television set. The white wooden ceiling is actually a cozy loft bedroom shaped in the dome (with a Japanese futon bed and a beautiful view to the sea), reached through a wooden stair next to the built sitting area.
An arched doorway, that divides the living room from the rest of the house, leads you to a small, heated, shallow pool with a built sofa bed, which is one of the most relaxing spots of Lydia's house. Next to the heated splash pool, simplicity and extreme elegance characterize the elevated open space master bedroom. A cavity in the wall, on one side of the built bed, is used as a walking closet and on the other side, a big cave with three cavities, form a luxurious bathroom consisted of a walk-in rain shower with white pebles on the floor, a separated toilette and a marble basin, taken from an old Turkish Hamam. Finally, considering the issue of privacy, a portable folding screen can be used to block the visual contact with the rest of the house, when needed.
Between the living room and the master bedroom, on the right side, there’s a fully equipped kitchen, a secondary bathroom with a walk-in rain shower, a dressing room and an engine room for the pool. On the left side, a cavity leads you to a stairway, descending to the old systern at a lower level, which is now used as a bedroom with two single beds.
The main pedestrian street (with all the shops, restaurants & galleries) is on the back side of Lydia's House, so you can enjoy the privacy you need but also have the easy accessibility to the central square (3 min walk) where you can find bus and taxi terminal. You can also take a walk at the “Goulas” area (1 min walk), which is famous for Oia’s sunset view.

Visiting Lydia's house, where every little detail has been handled with great taste and attention, you will experience a familiar warmth and serenity that will make you feel like home.

Great stay
The villa was as described, and the view was out of this world. The area is very busy, as it is right in the old town, but the villa itself is quite private and quiet.

Great location, many stairs, but beautiful area. Close to shopping, restaurants and attractions. Dani & Team were fabulous and detailed. The 3rd bedroom is in the LL cave, not ideal but it worked for just sleeping quarters. Amenities were sufficient, coffee, waters etc. No outdoor pool as many do have. Stunning views overcome all objections. I would highly recommend this vrbo only bummer was the 3rd bedroom not being ideal for adults( kiddos may love it though).

Beautiful Cave Home
Our family of 5 loved staying at this beautiful property. The check in was smooth, Dani guided us right to the vila, gave us a brief tour of it, showed us a map of the area and pointed out various restaurants, points of interest, available day tours, etc. The Villa was well appointed and extremely comfortable. It was nice to have coffee and a few breakfast items provided during our stay as well. The location was ideal, far end of Oia so we could escape the crowds and heat and relax in our cool cave on our balcony overlooking the Aegen Sea yet still close enough to delicious restaurants and beautiful views. I would highly recommend this villa, you won’t be disappointed!

Cave house in Oia
If you are looking for the true Oia experience, this is it! Lots of stairs up and down to get here (they have porters to help with luggage), but once you arrive, you will find a unique cave house that stays cool even in the heat of August with three big beds plus a couple of daybeds where it is possible to sleep. We were a family so fine with the open plan. Dani and Naiya were such great hosts/travel guides/counselors which really elevated our entire Santorini experience. From restaurant recommendations and reservations to a wonderful guide at Akrotiri to our highlight—an afternoon and sunset on a private catamaran, they just made everything so easy for us! They kept in touch via text too so we could ask little questions in real time. We really appreciated this extra level of personalization rare in a VRBO rental. You will not regret staying at Lydia’s House.

Such an amazing stay!
Our stay at this property was truly the best! The hosts were above and beyond helpful. I recommend having them set up a private tour for you with Eugenia. It was a highlight of our trip to Greece. We loved how unique the property was. The view is amazing! The amenities were top notch. I cannot thank you enough!
