About Robyn Cammer

I'm Robyn, Rental Manager for The Gardener's House at Frog Holler, which is family owned and managed. My parents and I moved to the beautiful Smoky Mountains from Virginia Beach, Virginia in 1999 to enjoy mountain and farm living. Mom is still active with farm life and harvests in the gardens -- at the age of 96!

Fortunate to grow up on several family farms, Robyn has continued her love of the outdoors and creative farming techniques. Since retiring from the legal, real estate and construction fields, she has developed three farms and continues to do farm consultation/design/development work in the Smokys.

Robyn Cammer purchased this house in 2005

Why Robyn Cammer chose Waynesville

The farm is in the middle of just about everything! Even though it is in a very rural area of farms surrounded by beautiful mountains, it is only minutes from Downtown Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Lake Junaluska and Asheville and all their great events--The best of both worlds. If you want a trip to the city, you are 20 minutes from Downtown Asheville. We are just over the mountain from Maggie Valley--about 10 minutes, just 12 minutes from Downtown Waynesville and 5 minutes from Lake Junaluska! And being only 2 miles from Interstate 40 gets us everywhere really fast and easy. Also great in challenging Winter weather since the road is not steep to get in and out of the farm and it is so centrally located in areas where the roads are cleared in increment weather.

What makes this house unique

The farm offers a serene atmosphere to get away from it all. Become another one of our wonderful regular guests who visit each year! Enjoy fresh veggies, fruit, flowers and eggs from the farm. It does not get any more 'Local' than that! The farm is teaming with songbirds and much wildlife, butterflies, frogs, bees, hummingbirds, not to mention the surrounding mountain pastures with cows and horses, chickens. Just sitting on the deck in the afternoon is an experience you will not soon forget. There is so much activity between all the beautiful flowers. Enjoy a bonfire by the pond at night while listening to a multitude of frogs', coffee on the deck in the morning next to the waterfall and koi pond while enjoying the mountain views. All of this is just minutes from great hiking, rafting, art galleries, festivals, and so much to do. You will want to return again and again like many of our repeat guests (and like we did!).

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a beautiful and unique place! We enjoyed it all.

Great vacation

  • 5 of 5

Just spent one month at Frog Holler and enjoyed every minute of it. House was great and very well equipped kitchen. Robyn made sure you had fresh eggs and vegetables from the farm. Robyn is just an email away and very responsive. Robyn works the farm and was very nice chatting with her learning the history of the area. The house was wonderful and the back deck great. House has huge back deck you can entertain on or just sit and look at the neighboring hills and mountains and relax. I spent hours doing jig saw puzzles under the shady cover of the deck. House near Waynesville nice town with many nice restaurants and not far from Asheville. On arrival house was immaculate with fresh flowers, wine and chocolates to welcome you. Allowed to bring your dog which I did and Holly enjoyed it also. Deck outside kitchen window has koi fish pond and very nice touch . Even got to know the neighboring farmer and was greeted on arrival evening with fresh picked corn. I can only say wonderful things about the house and property would truly recommend . Wish I had rented for another two weeks was sad to leave.

Great, getaway place in the farmer’s home. Cozy and feel of a farmer country side.

  • 5 of 5

Overall nice place getaway! Great garden views, and would highly recommend it if you are looking for farmer’s home experience. It does get chilly at night, and it is an older style home, but we enjoyed it!

Owner's Response: Jae, We are glad you enjoyed your stay! I am sure it was chilly since the cleaning crew found the heat in the house had been turned off when they arrived just after your check-out. Prior to your check-in it was set to 70 degrees. There is also a woodstove which had a fire built for your use but it had not been lit during your stay. There are also 4 additional heaters in the house which can be moved around for our guests' comfort (all were found unplugged and had not been used). The Gardener's House stays very warm, even when the chill factor has reached 20 below in windy weather. It was totally restored/rebuilt in 2006 and has R-24 and R-30 insulation throughout. I wish you had contacted us during your stay if you did not know how to adjust the heater temperature (directions are in the Guest Info book in the kitchen with all other information on the house).

Lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

We shared this updated cottage with family members who had gathered for a wedding over the Labor Day weekend in the North Carolina mountains. It was a very pleasant stay and the owner is a lovely and accommodating host. I actually knew nothing about Waynesville, NC, and was pleasantly surprised to find that it is a quaint artist town, similar to Asheville, but on a smaller scale. We recommend this lovely cottage.

Beautiful views and peaceful atmosphere.

  • 4 of 5

We went for a weekend the end of September and had a great time. Sitting outside on the beautiful patio during the cool evenings was such a treat. It was fun feeding the chickens and Koi. We went on a tour of the Sierra Nevada Brewery near Asheville - a must see. (You have to book the tour three months in advance.)

The house was well equipped and we were brought fresh eggs and vegetables.

We had a wonderful visit with our friends.

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

Please read all the reviews for the house! The listing information is accurate. Robyn is very prompt in answering email questions. The only thing that would make this house absolutely perfect is a bathroom as part of the master bedroom (maybe that will be the next renovation). The dirt/gravel entrance road to the house was just fine for the motorcycles and trike - minor item is the entrance to the parking area is a tiny bit step but wasn't a big deal for most of the motorcycles.

Thanks and I hope to stay again
