About this property

Beautiful historic home in downtown Albuquerque

Historic 1918 home in downtown Albuquerque, NM. Beautifully furnished with midcentury modern furniture, maple hardwood floors, large area rugs. The kitchen was remodeled with Ikea cabinets 6 years ago. Modern appliances with the exception of a beautiful and functional Chambers gas stove in the kitchen. Bright and sunny, large living room, sunroom with TV, dining room and master suite upstairs. The fireplace with marble hearth and many windows give this home its charm.
This beautiful house was our family home for 41 years. It was built in 1918 so it is over 100 years old. We have moved to a new home in the downtown neighborhood now that our children are grown. Downtown Albuquerque is home to many fun activities. If you like to walk short to medium distances you will have pedestrian access to our burgeoning craft brewing industry with taprooms and restaurants, art galleries, concert venues, Old Town, ABQ Convention Center, the Zoo, Botanical Gardens and aquarium. There are museums and bike trails all within walking distance. The University of New Mexico and several hospitals are close by: a 10 minute drive.
Guest access
This house is completely furnished as you can see from the photos. There is a flat screen TV and washer and dryer. There is a full complement of china and flatware, serving and baking dishes, glasses, pots, pans and cooking utensils. There is a microwave, toaster oven, drip coffee maker, Cuisinart and Ninja blender. The bed linens and towels are very luxurious and comfortable. There are a barbecue, deck, and tables and chairs in the back yard.
Guest interaction
You can choose to have contact with us or not. We will meet you when we give you the key and hope you will let us give you a quick tour of the home but will be totally sensitive to your preferences of contact.
Neighborhood overview
This is a very wooded, beautiful old neighborhood. Residents and their families walk to and from the local Mary Fox park where they picnic and enjoy the play equipment. There is also a grocery store 4 blocks from the house.
Getting around
Bus transportation is convenient to this home. There is also a Railrunner train station downtown which can take you to Santa Fe. The airport is a 10-15 minute drive with rental car from airport or Uber availability.

Great Albuquerque residential neighborhood
We enjoyed a two-month stay in early spring. Hosts very friendly, responsive, helpful. Lovely, comfortable master bedroom suite upstairs. Furnishings are strikingly modernist. Lots of sunlight. Close to neighborhood grocery, park, museums, zoo, Old Town, and many fine restaurants. Downtown nearby: library, convention center, churches, more dining. A fine ABQ home away from home!

Marathon stay
We were in town so I could run the Duke CityMarathon. The location was perfect. It was so comfortable and walking distance to the start/finish line. I would definitely recommend this house to someone visiting the Albuquerque area. It’s in a very quiet neighborhood and close to downtown.

Great house in a great city
This house was perfect for a twelve day stay for myself, my husband and our college-age son. The house was spacious, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. It was well-located with an easy walk to cafes, parks, and restaurants. We really enjoyed meeting and talking to our hosts. It really felt like a "home away from home" during our stay. Looking forward to staying again on a future trip.

About the host

Host profile image
Jon and I have lived in the downtown Albuquerque area for the past 40 years. We chose to live in this neighborhood because of how green and beautiful it is. Jon grew up in Illinois and the huge trees reminded him of home. I was a high school history teacher for 38 years but recently retired. Jon is an architect with his own firm. We are avid Master's Team swimmers at the University of New Mexico. We belong to several gyms for different focuses and we walk all around our neighborhood to buy groceries, eat out, go to the movies and go to cultural events.
