About this property

THE HAY LOFT in the Beautiful Shenandoah Valley

The Hay Loft sits in the middle of 43 beautiful acres, overlooking our working hay farm with stunning views of the Shenandoah Mountains. We are conveniently located a few minutes off of I-81 in Mt. Jackson, Virginia, near vineyards, antiquing, battlefields, golf resorts, ski resorts and caverns. A short 30 minute drive will take you hiking or driving in Shenandoah National Park.

Address: 949 Buck Hill Road, Mt Jackson, VA

The Hay Loft is a new, custom built Rustic/Luxe suite, spacious and open with all the amenities that you will need for a couple or solo vacation getaway. Custom made king bed and bathroom with tiled shower (no tub); linens and towels provided. You'll find a kitchenette with a single serve and 12-cup coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, ice maker, dishes and glasses. Enjoy cozying up on the couch in front of the gas fireplace to watch the flat screen TV with a DVD movie or play board games. Cook up a meal or BBQ on the outdoor gas grill, or lounge around the outdoor fire pit with plenty of logs to keep you warm.

Wake up to the beautiful sunrise over the mountains from you private balcony or bed as you sip your coffee. As the neighboring farms come alive, you can enjoy the sound of roosters crowing and cows calling to their calves. Take a walk or a bike ride along our dirt road and you may catch a glimpse of our hay farming; from cutting, raking or baling hay to unloading from the wagons into our barn. In the evening, relax on your balcony with a glass of wine and soak in the vistas of the sun setting over the barn and mountains.

THE HAY LOFT is Non-Smoking within the building, however moderate smoking is permitted outside; please do not dispose of cigarette butts on the landscape, forests or toilet.
- Wireless internet provided (limited, no streaming)
- no pets - Please note we have two outdoor farm dogs that are people and pet friendly, a Maremma livestock guard dog and a chocolate lab.
You can check yourself in anytime after 3pm with your own security code. Check out time at 11:00am.
We respect your desire for privacy. We are available next door in our home to answer any questions or help with any needs you may have. We are also always accessible by phone when we are not home.

We have a security camera facing the driveway and parking area and the bottom of the steps to the Hay Loft ONLY.

Country living: The Hay Loft sits on and next to 200 acres of hay and corn fields, and woods and trees. There are insects and animals in the country. You will occasionally see flies, lady bugs, stink bugs, mosquitoes, ants, etc outdoors, be mindful of open doors as some insects can get inside if doors and windows are left open by guests. We clean with bleach and sanitize thoroughly after each guest but you may on occasion see an insect inside (stink bugs usually) which is beyond our control. They are more prevalent in the spring (March and April). We provide a hand vac so you can suck it up in the vacuum for us to dispose the dead insect later. The home is spray foam insulated and an insect treatment sprayed around the exterior of the home on a monthly basis. When it warms up, the stink bugs and lady bugs occasionally tend to congregate on the warm door/windows. These are small nuisances to enjoy the beauty of the mountains and valley (we also get them in our own home). We cannot control nature and do not provide refunds for acts of nature beyond our control to include a few stink bugs that may get inside the home. We have windows that attract stinkbugs ladybugs, so if you have a ladybug or stinkbug phobia this probably isn’t the place for you. This is only problem normally in the Spring. We have a pest control service to handle the problem and they use people and pet safe products. However, we never completely win the battle with nature so there may be some around.

AMAZING stay at The Hay Loft!!!
My wife and I stayed one night at the Hay Loft, for a short get away to celebrate our recent marriage. Kim responded instantly with recommendations and suggestions on places to visit within the area which surly further enhanced our stay. Upon arrival to their beautiful property, we were welcomed with open arms from Kim, Jerry and their two friendly pups Tedder & Grover! The Hay Loft provided a breathtaking view of the country side and front row seat of the sun rising over the mountains. The Loft was very clean, had amazing decor, comfortable bed, stocked with snacks and coffee. The hospitality from Kim & Jerry was simply unmatched, we can’t wait to return! Thank you again!!

Weekend Getaway
Perfect location for a nice weekend getaway. About 15-30 minutes from a long list of highly recommended restaurants, vineyards, and near some great hikes. The loft had everything you could need and the fire pit was lovely on a chilly night. Overall, highly recommend!
