About this property

Ocean Getaway - Relax on the Water

This is an authentic log home (1900 sf). While the look is rustic, it has all the modern conveniences you’ve come to expect. The entire first floor is handicapped accessible. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything a willing cook will need, while on the deck a gas grill waits for outdoor cooking. Watch a movie or game in the living room, while a sunset displays its beautiful colors just beyond the wall of windows overlooking the ocean. You can take the chill off an evening with a crackling fire in the fireplace. The master suite has a separate TV, private full bath, and optional private entrance. A washer and dryer are located in the half bath down the hall. On the second floor you’ll find two large bedrooms with two full beds in each, as well as a full bath - with tub. A loft with a cozy reading nook completes the upstairs hideaway. There is an ocean view from every room in this house.

Outside you can enjoy the view of the ocean from a rocking chair on the screened porch or the deck. A short 75 foot path makes access to the ocean and private beach easy. Swim on the beach (if you dare to brave the cool waters of Maine), skip rocks, rock hound, bird watch, look for fossils, or use the paddle boat or canoe to explore the quiet cove.

Area attractions include four lighthouses within 15 miles. One of them, picturesque West Quoddy Head Light with its red and white stripes, is the most eastern point in the United States. There are sandy beaches, as well as, bold coastal cliffs. Campobello Island, Canada (passport required) is only a 10 minute drive and well worth the visit. Like Hiking? The Lubec area has three state parks, a national wildlife refuge, and several nature preserves all with trails to see nature at its best. Chartered boat trips are available for viewing whales, seals, eagles, or puffins. And don’t forget the fresh seafood served in local restaurants or available for you to cook back at the ocean getaway.

Your perfect place to rest, relax, and recharge might just be our Ocean Getaway.

Perfect Setting For A Spring Adventure
Our stay was 5 star all the way. The cabin was located with a beautiful, extended view up the cove so we could watch the tides and weather from the comfort of the cabin. The isolated property was perfect for letting our dogs run free. We were the first guests of the year and woke up the first morning to 4" of snow over everything. The property manager helped us quickly get power restored and the cabin was warm and cozy as we waited for spring to arrive. I got a photo of the West Quoddy lighthouse in snow that will remind us of our wonderful stay in Lubec.

Lovely location with extremely attentive owner/manager
We choose this location for its waterfront location. It was lush, well tended and secluded. The kayaks and outdoor fire pit made for wonderful memories. (Especially with seals swimming about a foot away.) Epic stargazing! We had a series of unfortunate events with our car .. the owner and manager went well out their way to help us. We are ever grateful. We can't wait to visit Lubec again.

Love Lubec
Cabin is so lovely. Carson {caretaker} was great guy, helpful w/ info, available if needed, fun to meet. Owners have provided a beautiful space w/ the quiet & solitude that one comes north for. Many adventures to be had. Went to Cutler (you’ll figure out how to get there) found a fish pound, fellow rowed out to his Lobster boat & brought us two 1.5 lb.ers for less than 1 cull in the city! 4 Eagles in back & tons of wildlife. Lubec folk are excellent and don’t miss Water Street Restaurant. Truely a “No Reservations” type experience!

Amazing views with constant relaxation
We had an amazing time. The house was on an amazing piece of property in lubec. The views of the cove are stunning, and was amazing to watch the massive tide make the water empty like pulling the drain plug, right from the huge deck. The house was cozy and clean and the owner/caretakers were great and responded to all inquires. We fully plan on coming back!

Worth the drive
The property is absolutely beautiful! The views are stunning! Although, as mentioned in a review from August, the cabin does need a good cleaning. There were cobwebs here and there, not too bad, by itself, however dead bugs, mostly flies were everywhere. Going up the stairs to master bathroom, on stove, kitchen counters...etc. After a 13-14 hour drive a hot bath was needed, when I pulled back shower curtain...3 dead flies in tub. The ceiling light covers are filled with mostly dead bugs, but you can see the random one that is still buzzing around. One night I started the bath and while letting tub fill I was getting myself together to get in, turned around and 2 dying flies were floating in the water. Fan above stove was very greasy and covered with dead bugs. I don't know if it's a regional thing, a property location thing or a housekeeping issue for all the bugs. Other than the bugs, everything was very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay! Our fault was picking November during a pandemic....most local eateries and shopping was closed and we couldn't get into Canada to see more lighthouses, however, beauty was still everywhere!

About the host

I was born and grew up in Lubec and always loved the 'not too hot' summers and the clean smell of the salt air. However, jobs there are scarce, so I had to move away to make my living. I met my wife, Diane, in Connecticut and we now live in Georgia. My wife has fallen in love with Maine, too. We return to spend vacations there whenever we can.

Why they chose this property

The 20 acres with over 500 feet of ocean frontage has been in our family for nearly 50 years. Diane & I bought it from my father in 1988. Since then we enjoyed the infrequent picnic here during our visits to my home town. In 2006, we decided to build our retirement home here - so we have built this log home with everything we wanted in OUR HOME. But unfortunately, right now we can only spend a couple of weeks here each year. In 10 years, when we retire, this will change, but for now we can share this beautiful home/property with others who appreciation what Maine has to offer.

What makes this property unique

We spend most of our time on the Deck. We love to have coffee there each morning while we watch the deer and eagles just a short distance away. We also love to have a fire in the fireplace each evening. We love the freshness of the seafood that we can buy inexpensively at local restaurants or at the docks to prepare at home. But mostly we love the solitude and peacefulness of our private cove. There are no other homes within sight of our home, yet we are only 4 miles away from the center of town.
