About this property

A Hideaway in the Tennessee Mountains - minutes from Dollywood

Description

Nestled in a beautiful corner of the Tennessee mountains, 'Cliffside Hideaway' is unique mountaintop log cabin experience! The glass front exterior and rustic mountain interior will make you say ‘wow!’ at first blush. The mountain top views are spectacular but don’t get too taken with the valley vistas because Smoky Mountain vacation memories are waiting to be made with Dollywood just a stone’s throw away. In fact, some nights you can see the Dollywood fireworks from our driveway or deck (consult Dollywood.com for schedule). Additionally, all of the other area’s biggest and best attractions are located close by. You will love a ‘Cliffside Hideaway’!

Outside, there is a wide porch with several rocking chairs perfect for casual conversations. When the sun goes down, retreat to the back porch and continue that convo in a soothing and relaxing hot tub. There is also a charcoal grill for your family grillmaster to fire up some steaks, burgers and dogs.

The living room: Comfy, cozy couches are waiting for you after a long day of play in Dollywood or Downtown Gatlinburg. The log cabin interior and bear-themed decor reminds you exactly where you are spending your perfect mountain vacation. A soft area rug ties the room together and compliments the natural hardwood floors. There is HDTV with premium cable and Blu-Ray hook-ups making for memorable family movie nights. We provide the following pay channels: HBOMax, Showtime, and The Movie Channel. Access to most streaming services is available (user credentials required). The cabin is also equipped with Wi-Fi for laptops and devices.

The dining room: a log dining room table seats six comfortably for meals with family and friends. Silverware, plates and glasses are provided. The table is also big enough for games, card or board, office work or a casual hangout. The dining room is open to both the living room and kitchen, making it the central gathering place for the cabin.

The kitchen: fully equipped with all the appliances and utensils you need to make breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is open to the dining room so you can be part of the fun while cooking for the group at the same time. A side door leads to the back porch and that relaxing hot tub.

Downstairs bedroom: a king-size bed awaits your weary bones and makes for a restful night sleep. A HDTV provides entertainment in the bedroom or, skip the tv and fall asleep to the crackling flames of the fireplace. An attached bathroom with a stand-up shower is convenient and private.

Upstairs loft: at the top of a spiral staircase, you’ll find another sleeping area with a king-sized bed and adjacent bathroom with a shower/tub combo. Nearby, a jacuzzi tub soothes the aches and pains of the day away and is the perfect place to unwind. Challenge the kids to a friendly (or ultra-competitive) game of eight ball on the upstairs pool table. Or head to the cozy balcony for another vantage point for those spectacular sunset views.

Additionally, we personally ensure that the cabin is cleaned and properly maintained so that your stay will be as comfortable as possible.

About the neighborhood

We are conveniently located just minutes from all area attractions. At ‘Cliffside Hideaway’ you and your group are only:

4 miles from Dollywood

5 miles from Pigeon Forge

8 miles from the Great Smoky Mountains Arts and Crafts Community

10 miles from Downtown Gatlinburg

13 miles from the entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park

40 miles from Downtown Knoxville

The cabin sits atop the mountain 2 miles from the main road. The road to the cabin is winding but plenty wide enough for 2 vehicles to pass. Cars, trucks and motorcycles will have no problem making the climb up the mountain. Please consider your own personal comfort zone with mountain roads before booking. We are at the top of a mountain and the road is steep an windy. But once you get to the top, the views are spectacular.

The wildlife atop the mountain is abundant. Birds, raccoons and squirrels are active and occasionally a bear or two will wander by ‘Cliffside Hideway’. Please be careful with your food or trash. The bears are smart, hungry and always on the look out for food.

Save Yourself The Hassle and Book Elsewhere
My family was very excited to spend the past week exploring TN. We were in town for a baseball tournament and our entire team thought it would be fun to rent cabins near each other. We chose this particular cabin because the sleeping configuration would work well for our family. After an 8 hour drive, we arrived to the cabin. I went to pull the Queen sleeper sofa out to get it ready for my son. As I pulled it out, food, crayons and trash fell out. Then as I examined it closer the sheets and mattress were covered in urine. The urine went all the way through the bedding down to the sofa springs. I called the contact number on the booking and spoke with the host. She first suggested we cover the pee soak mattress with new sheets. I couldn’t believe that was suggested as a fix. I declined. She then said she ordered a replacement but it wouldn’t arrive until the end of our stay. She had an air bed sent over. Halfway through the night, it deflated. It would only hold air for a few hours before needing to be refilled. It was super uncomfortable and disruptive. As if that wasn’t enough… literally all the bedding on the other beds were stained and had hair on them. We were so tired at that point that we stripped the beds and put them in the wash ourselves to ensure they were in fact sanitized. The washer sounds like something is broken. Very noisy. The biggest issue was the dryer. It never got warm and just seemed to blow room temp air. It took 4 dryer cycles to dry the sheets. We did call about the dryer as well and were told we had it on the wrong setting. That wasn’t the case as it never fully warmed up to a normal dry cycle. We counted on having a working washer/dryer as we needed to wash baseball clothes daily. We ended up having to use a friends washer/dryer. Overall, it was very clear this cabin was not maintained properly. The host seemed hassled to deal with any of it (even stating she was on vacation). I guess it didn’t occur to her we were also on one. The inches of dust hanging from the ceiling fans…. mold/mildew covering the air vents … dirty bedding… dirty floors… it was just disgusting. Our friends that rented nearby for similar prices had much cleaner spaces. They were shocked at the condition of this place. To top it off… the view that is advertised in the pics is now blocked by new construction. You will hear that construction around the clock… so there is no peaceful cabin vibe. We ended up leaving 2 days early.

Amazing
The cabin is beautiful and comfy. We had an amazing start to 2021 with the breathtaking view of this cabin. We were able to view the fireworks from the cabin. Christa is very sweet and responds to her messages quickly. We would definitely stay here again.

Exceptional Cabin!!!
I brought my closest friends with me to this getaway cabin. They could not believe their eyes! I had sent pics of this place but it did no justice! My friend’s mom was asking for info, as well! I highly recommend this cabin! It was a steal!!! The owners were amazing at communicating. Can’t get any better than that!!!

Why they chose this property

Besides the fact that we love it, we enjoy the beautiful Smoky Mountains, Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Cades Cove in the Townsend area, Roaring Fork in Gatlinburg, the Exotic Petting Zoo on Hwy 411 in Sevierville, Horseback Riding at 4 Seasons Stables, the Trail of Tears show in Cherokee NC, variety of miniature golf courses, and the hiking and waterfalls. And last but not least, the amazing colors of the leaf changing in October is beyond description.
