Overview

About the property

Cabin, Studio + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

My husband and I found Volcano Village about 20 years ago. It was our dream to purchase property there, and we did just that! We built a small magical little cabin. For many years we enjoyed it ourselves from time to time, and on occasion our friends and family would go and stay at the cabin. Each time we always heard the same things... How beautiful it was, how inspiring it felt, and how they just never wanted to leave. So a Few years ago we put it on the market as a vacation rental.

The cabin is a huge cabin/studio, it offers a very large bathroom with a Large soak tub, a stand up shower, full washer & dryer, full size kitchen, dining area, sitting room with a view of the forest and a gorgeous gas fireplace. We just put in a brand NEW queen size pillow top mattress that makes you feel like you are really sleeping in the clouds and though there is a large picture window just above the bed so as you lay there you can keep your eyes on the Big Dipper.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Genevieve & Rev,

Thanks very much for your note! We had a wonderful time in the Big Island and loved your cabin. This was the highlight of our trip. The cabin was private, peaceful, well decorated, and very relaxing! We hope to have an opportunity to stay here again in the future. We will definitely recommend your cabin to our friends. Although we decided not to bring our laptop this time, the availability of wireless internet was a strong consideration when selecting your cabin.

Rainforest retreat

  • 4 of 5

This is a spacious cabin nestled in really tall ferns that feels like you're in a tree house. The ceilings are high, large windows look out onto lush vegetation, full kitchen and huge bathroom. There's a gas fireplace to take the chill off and it's a short drive to the national park. We enjoyed our stay very much. There was no cell phone service, but there is a land line and there is wifi. We would stay again and will recommend to friends.

Property was clean and cabin was very nice inside; road was kind of bumpy getting in the driveway

  • 4 of 5

The location for this property was perfect for us; not far from the volcano and not far back to Hilo or the beach; the climate was perfect for us as we come from a cold weather state; we only had to turn the fire place on once for warmth: we were very comfortable

A beautiful little cabin in a lush tropical setting!

  • 5 of 5

Driving up the driveway we felt like we were entering a tropical forest, and weren’t sure what to expect, but we were delighted with our 2 night stay here! The location is great as it is only a 5minute drive to the volcano. The cabin is cozy and warm, even though the nights can be cool. The bed is comfortable, and you can see the stars from the window. We would highly recommend this rental unit! Thank you, Dennis!

Nice cottage

  • 4 of 5

We've stayed in the Volcano NP area multiple times over the years and this is one of the nicer places we have stayed. Great location very close to Volcano village and VNP. Very clean and well maintained. Tucked away in the forest, it is very private. The skylights flood the interior with daylight and the picture window at the head of the bed allows a great view of the stars at night. (NO curtains on the windows, so when the sun comes up, you are up). Large covered deck for sitting outside to listen to the birds in the forest canopy -- but no table -- doubt we would have eaten outside anyway -- it was pretty chilly most of the time. Remember that Volcano can be cold and rainy - it was when we were there, so bring warm clothes and long pants! You will enjoy the gas fireplace after a day of hiking in the sideways rain!

Not a condo in Kona, so no dishwasher, and they could have used a few kitchen items such as an extra kitchen towel and hot pads, but overall well turned out for two people.

Washer and dryer - Dryer is nice for drying out the bath towels before your shower - it was so damp there nothing dried by hanging it on the deck. Could have used a couple more towel racks in the bathroom.

The only thing that would have made it perfect would be a hot tub tucked in forest for starlight soaking (we've found a couple places in Volcano that have them but they are hard to book) - there is a huge soaking tub in the bathroom, but we never used it -- seemed wasteful of water and electric.

Owner is also very responsive and helpful. We have this place on our radar for next year.

We really enjoyed this secluded little cabin. It was in a great location and the cabin had everything you needed for your stay. We liked looking at all the lush foliage there. It was a fabulous stay.
