About Denise DuBarry Hay
Bill grew up here on the Mississippi Lake and this shoreline 'Hay Shore' was named after his family. The Hays owned most of this shoreline in the 1930's. The land that the Blue Cottage was built on was sold to the Box family in the 40's and they built several cottages, this was one of them. It was dilapidated when we (The Hay's) repurchased the land in 1997. The little Blue cottage was White back then and in bad shape. Even in its rough state was too cute to tear down, so we remodeled it and painted it blue.
Denise DuBarry Hay purchased this Cottage in 1997
Why Denise DuBarry Hay chose Carleton Place
This property has been in our family for generations and it sits on several acres of cedar forests and open fields. You might see deer and hear the occasional wolf call out deep in the forest.
What makes this Cottage unique
It's almost impossible these days to find a secluded lake front cottage that is still close enough to the center of town. Staying here makes you feel somehow connected to the past while still having the luxuries of today's technologies.

Nice little place out of way for teo people. Very quiet.
This place is a summer cabin and we were there is summer. The lake and sunsets were very soothing. We heard a loon there, something’s my wife had not heard or seen for a number of years. It was wonderfully quiet, which is what we were looking for.
As can be seen from the photo, the place is small and somewhat rustic. But it has charm, and is well furnished inside.
Very private, cozy cottage
Stayed there a week mostly by myself, with guests for the day here and there. Clean, quiet, very private. Lake was not busy. Very shallow lake, which was not a problem as I do not swim, and it kept the boats away from the shore. Fully functional. Great grounds to walk on. Great spot.
One of the oldest canoe clubs is located 10 minutes away in Carleton Place.
