About Alicia Christians
Our family is always on the move exploring all over the world. We landed in Chonchos in March of 2017 and loved it so much that we returned 2 times after our initial trip to look at purchasing a palapa. Our family loves exploring the Rocky Mountains, the SW desert, and international destinations that are both safe and adventurous for the family. Since we live in the Rocky Mountains, we realized Los Chonchos would be a great opportunity for the family to also experience the wonders of the ocean.
Alicia Christians purchased this Bungalow in 2017
Why Alicia Christians chose Chimo
We bought Casa Sarah this year and contracted with a local contractor to finish and update this palapa. The results were incredible. The location in the village is superb and the local beaches are magical. I hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did!
What makes this Bungalow unique
An isolated ocean paradise within the Mexican jungle. Two private beaches to access and sea kayaks provided. You can charter a local fishing boat to deepsea fish. Meals can be cooked on site.

Wonderful secluded location for a tranquil vacation
This was our second time to Chonchos. The location and experience of being in such a remote spot is what makes it so special. So much more peaceful and relaxing than staying in the heart of Vallarta or in the monster resorts of Neuevo Vallarta!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Sarah! The staff, guests, & owners on site at Los Chonchos were all extremely helpful & friendly. The palapa has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The lovely outdoor shower has hot and cold water, the kitchen is well stocked with supplies, and the candles & lanterns at night make for a lovely ambience.
Keep in mind, this location is remote so some planning is necessary! Be sure to bring plenty of pesos to cover tips, lunch in Chimo, water taxis, etc. Alicia does a fantastic job making suggestions as to what to bring. We brought groceries for breakfast & snacks. Chef Alfonso prepared beautiful & delicious dinners for us in the evenings. We watched the sunset at the big beach one evening and when we returned to our palapa, Alfonso had our dinner waiting for us!
The water taxi from Boca can get very full. They pack in the people and a ton of supplies. We brought reusable grocery bags to transport our food but a bag that zips or a cooler would have worked better since everyone's luggage and supplies are piled at the front of the boat. It is a beautiful boat ride and the boat slowly empties out as you make stops on beautiful beaches along the way to Los Chonchos.
Thanks to Alicia for arranging a driver to and from the airport for us. Jesus was great and made sure we had a driver on both ends of the trip. We went straight from the airport to the ATM, to the grocery store, to Boca de Tomatlan. It was very easy & hassle free.
Casa Sarah is truly a fantastic place to unwind, relax, and enjoy nature. We saw a countless unique birds and tons of butterflies. The view from the palapa is spectacular and it was amazing to fall asleep to the sounds of the waves crashing on the beach. We loved our stay and can't wait to return! This was an amazing experience!
Sweet peaceful retreat
A wonderful home for incredible privacy and views. Enjoyed walks on beach, jungle air and good company.
For us, this was just what we needed...a little adventure getting here and then absolute silence. We hiked to get food into Chimo....and I highly recommend going to chimo’s to order the pan seared snapper. OMG! So good, so simple. There is no menu at this restaurant, so smile, pull out your best Spanglish and let that couple amaze you! I thought chimo’s was better than arturo’s (Solicio’s) . Delightful, all of it.
A restorative dream
This is a great place to unplug and unwind, and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our week there. The palapa is well laid out with everything you'd want to be self-sufficient, and it's view out on the water is great for whalespotting, star gazing or yoga practicing. If you want an activity, there's plenty of sand, beach, and shell collecting, or a walk into Chimo for fish and ceviche at Arturo's. We found it nice to shop for food beforehand and bring basics with us on the water taxi, and are very happy we packed light to keep the beach landing simple.
So nice to wake up every morning and see the waves through the netting, listen to the rustling of the chachalaca's in the trees, and know today's going to be a lot like yesterday: sunny, peaceful, quiet, calm.
We spent a fantastic week here and can't wait go back! Plenty of activities and relaxation for adults and kids both. Casa Sarah is in the most beautiful, peaceful, natural setting, with a huge view and perfect privacy that make the climb up to it from the beach well worth it. There was always a nice breeze up there and we saw whales every morning from the palapa, as well as parrots, macaws and other jungle birds. Loved ending the day by candlelight and sleeping and waking to the sound of the waves breaking on the shore below. We didn't miss having walls, wifi or cell service for a minute!
Casa Sarah is beautifully decorated, the kitchen is fully equipped for preparing your own meals, the shower has hot and cold water... it was really perfect with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Even so, it is definitely an outdoor experience.
The boat ride to Los Chonchos is absolutely gorgeous and exciting, a very fun experience and seems totally reliable as well. We also loved walking to Chimo to go to Arturo's restaurant for lunch, the food was incredible and the hike scenic.
The staff on site was very helpful, and big thanks to Alicia for all the information beforehand, even helping to put us in touch with a driver in PV. Meeting some of the Chonchos community, both locals and visitors, was definitely one of the highlights of our trip, we're grateful for the warm welcome!
Chimo is the nearest town. It can take anywhere between 45-90 minutes to walk there. There are 2 water taxis that can be used to reach Chimo, Yelapa, and Puerto Vallarta. If you are staying in Chonchos, there is a boat that can be chartered to take people deep sea fishing.
