Dutchess County 5 star Luxury Estate . 10 minutes from Rhinebeck

Classic Upstate NY Country Estate

A one km drive through the woods, past on old 1700s barn and pond and up to the main house, this home was originally an inn built in the 1700s and reputed to have had George Washington as a guest. A 29 acre estate with pool and multiple entertaining areas and a large country kitchen, the house is an expansive and unique home that provides the ultimate upstate New York living, with the Culinary Institute of America a ten minute drive away as well as picturesque Rhinebeck with its many high end restaurants.

For those looking for an upstate/dutchess county getaway for the family, just two hours drive or train from New York City, this is a truly unique gem of a property. The long drive through the woods to get to the house provides the privacy and romantic setting that is quite unique and is a tremendous experience, no matter what the season!

The 7 bedroom, 5 bath, 10,000 sq. ft. property is a piece of American history, with a hand-chiseled triple height barn and numerous old fireplaces, yet has been modernized to have the amenities and comforts of a 21st century home.

In the house, the entertainment space is second to none. Enter to a vast open floor main reception space lit by delicate chandeliers. The delightfully furnished room has a fireplace, piano, and dining area with a long wooden table that can seat 10.

“ We enjoyed a long, early October weekend at Hendricks House Estate and were blown away.

This historic property is beautiful inside and out and has been meticulously maintained and updated.

There are plenty of rooms to gather in small groups and large (we celebrated my wife’s 40th birthday with 4 other couples).

We played games fireside in the Red Room after dinner, had leisurely (and bountiful!) breakfasts in the kitchen, watched baseball in the family room and even made decadent S’more’s (homemade graham crackers!) one evening at the fire pit.

We swam in the heated pool and slept well in the very comfortable beds.

There is plenty to do in the surrounding towns if you feel like venturing off the property – we had a few very nice meals, had some excellent hikes and even went archering. If you’re looking for a large house in a private setting with attentive staff this is the home for you!

Dutchess County elegance beyond your wildest dreams
Having fallen in love with Hendricks House after seeing the photos, we sensibly dialled down our excitement levels and prepared ourselves for disappointment as we rounded the final corner of the lovely 1 km long driveway. As the house came into view, jaws dropped commensurately with the palpable rise in excitement. This is a stunningly beautiful property, just... STUNNING.
Like a grand dame, dressed in her white finery, the house commands your gaze falls upon it. Large but by no means ridiculously so, every room in the house is blessed with sympathetic interior design, reflecting the date of the property (late 18th century) yet with contemporary country touches everywhere that make a house a home.
The gardens at Hendricks House are, as with all great houses, an extension of the interior. Thoughtful in planning, excellent in execution, a lot of time and effort has clearly gone into the landscaping. Two beautiful ponds form the focal point, with a Monet-esque bridge joining them, and colourful planting adorn the borders and urns to soften the verdant backdrop of the distant woods. At night, from your stone terraced seating area, set as if centre stage in the garden, a hundred twinkly lights illuminate one's entire field of view. So pretty is this IMAXian effect that, after a few sundowners, one could easily imagine having died and gone to heaven!
The pool area is very pretty and laps up to a summer kitchen/dining space that has everything you need for dining with family and friends. Even poolside, portable, bluetooth speakers were provided enabling our teenage girls to 'crank up da beats' and imagine they were partying with the Kardashians (God forbid!).
So, please don't book this place, don't even think about it. It is clearly not for you because my family and I would very much like to return and, if it becomes too popular, it may be a very longtime before we do. ”

Hudson Valley Dream
This is a stunning, old home sitting on an equally stunning property. Our group of 4 couples spent 4 nights here and would have loved to stay even longer. The location is great. It is in easy walking distance to River and Post, where we had an awesome dinner, and to Mills Norrie State Park where we did some hiking. It is also just a quick drive to Rhinebeck and Hyde Park. So much to see and do in the area. The house is so amazing that we loved spending time together at home. The owner and the local caretaker were great with communication and made us feel very welcome at the home. We would return in a heartbeat.

5 Star Luxury!
This house has it all and we cannot wait to come back. We celebrated my parents 40th wedding anniversary weekend with a large group of siblings and grandchildren; and the house was everything we could have hoped for (and much more!!!). The pool was heavenly for all the kids; the barn was such a nice addition for a change of scene; the great room and the basement media room were where we spent much of our time... and the outdoor spaces just kept going! We were able to utilize every inch of the house and still feel spread out... and we left saying that we can't wait to rent again. The hosts and their caretaker are so lovely. Can't say enough good things about Hendricks House :)

Lovely Estate home
We had a multi generational family celebration at this gorgeous home in Dutchess County. We really loved the gorgeous landscaping, the morning visits from the heron and seeing the hummingbirds and baby deer and everyone loved the sparkling heated pool. The home is beautiful and it fit our group aged 3 to 63 perfectly. The home is in a great location with great access to Rhinebeck and Kingston and the not to be missed restaurant within walking distance, River and Post. Stunning decor but very warm and welcoming. Thank you to Muriel, the care taker for all of your help. We had a wonderful time. We hope to come back soon.

Incredible experience
The property is utterly perfect for a large family group. Beautifully maintained and furnished. The large barn serves as a fabulous TV room for after dinner movies. The pool and gardens are gorgeous. Classic Hudson Valley. Relaxing and rejuvenating. Rent this place. You will not regret it.

An Amazing Stay at a Charming 19th Century English Manor House
My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at a beautiful VRBO home in Staatsburg, NY. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the grandeur and charm of this American version of a 19th century English manor house. First and foremost, the size of the house was absolutely perfect for our group. With plenty of rooms and spacious common areas, we felt like we had our own private retreat. The bedrooms were comfortable, and the tastefully decorated interiors exuded elegance and vintage charm. One of the highlights of our stay was the fantastic pool. The crystal-clear water and surrounding lounge chairs provided the perfect spot for relaxation and soaking up the sun. It truly felt like our own private oasis. The kitchen, equipped with modern appliances and ample counter space, it catered to our every culinary need. Cooking meals together as a family was a joy, with plenty of room for multiple chefs. A special shoutout to Muriel, as her warm welcome and hospitality made our stay even more memorable. She was readily available to address any questions or concerns we had, and her knowledge of the house and the surrounding area was invaluable. Muriel truly went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, our experience at this VRBO home in Staatsburg, NY, was nothing short of exceptional. Thank you Carter and Carmen for allowing us to stay. We highly recommend this property to anyone seeking a luxurious and unforgettable getaway
