About this property

Beautiful Victorian- In the heart of Alameda. Minutes from San Francisco

Don't be fooled by other listings that show a beautiful Victorian home but you are renting the basement apartment.... this rental is for the house.

This lovely home was built in 1885 and offers Victorian spendor along with all the amenities for an enjoyable stay.

Alameda offers easy access to San Francisco and many other Bay Area locations including the Oakland Coliseum (Go A’s and Warriors) and UC Berkeley (Go Bears). Oakland Airport is less than 5 miles away. Getting to San Francisco is quick and comfortable - use the ferry (from the Main St terminal), bus, the express bus to downtown SF or to BART is only 3 blocks away. You can also drive- getting to the I-880 freeway and the Bay Bridge is quick - driving to downtown SF takes 25-30 minutes outside of rush hour. But the ferry is a much nicer way to go and you don’t have to park in SF (free parking at the ferry terminal in Alameda)

The main floor:
This stunning house features 12 foot ceilings in the formal rooms and the master bedroom. The front parlor features formal seating while the back parlor offers casual seating to visit or watch TV. The TV has a DVD/Blueray player with a collection of action and family DVDs. Local TV stations and access to Netflix. Wi-Fi is also available throughout the house.

The dining room seats 6. The china cabinet is stocked with formal china should you wish to have a formal dinner – but since you are on vacation you might prefer to visit one of the many great restaurants that Alameda has to offer. Many within easy walking distance of the house.

The more modern kitchen has a fridge/freezer with ice maker, dishwasher, sink with garbage disposal, gas stove with a large oven, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and all the utensils a well-appointed kitchen should have.

The master bedroom has a king size bed and a large armoire as well as a dresser; the attached bathroom (also accessible from the second bedroom) has an extra-long tub/shower with 2 shower heads (each separately controlled).

The 2nd bedroom has a Queen sized bed and lots of closet space as well as a dresser. This bedroom has direct access to the main floor full bath as well as to the 1/2 bathmi

To sum up the bedroom/bathrooms on the main floor there are 2 bedroom and one full bath that both bedrooms have doors into. There is also a 1/2 bath off the queen bedroom so you can lock the queen room door access to the full bath if you dont want to run into each other in the middle of thr night ;) There is also a door to the hall (yes there are 3 door into one bathroom! Remeber this house was built in 1885 so just having a bathroom inside was super cool! There is also another full bath in the attic.

The Attic:
The 3rd bedroom and a bathroom are in the attic.
The 3rd bedroom sits at the top of the stairs and features 2 twin beds.

The full attic bathroom features a beautiful walk-in shower with a calcite wall and floors.

(Alameda has great weather but on the rare summer days when Alameda is hot the attic rooms are warmer than the downstairs rooms- a free-standing AC Unit is available should the bay breezes not be enough to cool the rooms down)

The basement:
The basement offers tenants the use of the laundry room. The laundry room has a front load washer and dryer on pedestals and an area to sort and fold laundry. The rest if the basement is not available to tenants. As the owners office is there.

The yard:
The park-like large backyard offers a comfortable seating area and a gas bbq. Yard work will be done by the owners mostly mid-day – we will do our best not to disturb our guests any more than necessary and will be happy to work around your schedule as much as possible.

Security Cameras:
There are outside security cameras at the front and rear entrance to the house.

The garage/parking:
The garage is not available for tenant use. The driveway is and has off-street parking for 1 vehicle. Additional street parking is usually easily available.

This is a historic home built in 1885 and is for use as a temporary place to stay while visiting or working in the area. Only the bedrooms are to be used as bedrooms. No airbeds may be added to other rooms – this is a family home not a bunkhouse or party pad. An airbed is available to add to the back bedroom should 2 people want to share the room but not share the one Queen sized bed. The limit for guests is 6 people.

The rental is for vacation/short term rental only. No length of stay establishes residency- this is for temporary stay NOT a primary residence. By agreeing to rent the house you agree to all the terms listed in the description of the property as well as the house rules. Violation of the agreement terminates the rental agreement.

People in the area for construction or other work are welcome as long as they realize this is HOME and plan to treat it with the care a historic home deserves.

Beautiful place!
I stayed at this property in October, and it was awesome. Even though I usually like trying new places, I'd gladly come back here. My family and I had a blast. We all loved hanging out at the big dining table, sharing meals, and playing board games. The house was very clean and comfy and the backyard, with its beautiful avocado tree, was a nice spot to relax. I would also like to express my gratitude to our host, Maria. She was incredibly responsive and accommodating throughout our stay, ensuring that all of our needs and questions were promptly addressed. Her hospitality was truly exceptional, and it made our stay all the more enjoyable.
