About this property

$Million Custom Log Home on 9 Acre Mountain Estate Overlooking 20ft Wide Stream

Dare to Relax Lodge is the culmination of a 4 year custom design and build of truly unique log home perched on a 9 acre estate overlooking a 20 foot wide rushing stream in the serene and picturesque mountains of North Georgia. Completed in 2016, the lodge is located just 75 miles north of Atlanta yet with a feeling of being lost in the wilderness.

Dare to Relax Lodge features a large vaulted great room with an exposed log structure and an open Kitchen and Dining Room creating a dramatic interior inspired by the Grand Tetons located near Yellowstone National Park. Hand peeled logs approaching 2 feet in diameter with Swedish coping and saddle notch accents throughout recreate the grandeur of National Park Lodges.

The great room features a 30-foot wide wall of glass that sours 24 feet tall offering a dramatic view of the stream below and features a large wood burning fireplace set in real stacked stone masonry. The connected dining room features a custom designed dining table that seats 13 guests. The kitchen which is open to the great room features dual cooktops and convection ovens along with an oversized island with copper farm sink. No expense was spared in the chef’s kitchen with custom walnut cabinets and granite countertops.
The Aspen Ski themed master bedroom features a custom king log bed along with a daybed set in a bay of windows. The master bath features dual copper basin sinks and oversized natural slate stone shower. Equipped with a 40” HDTV, the master is a sanctuary on its own.

A 2nd bedroom on the first floor has a queen bed and an adjacent full bath. Upstairs there is a 3rd bedroom with a queen bed. Also on the second floor is an oversized bedroom that sleeps 8 with a king bed and a set of custom log bunk beds (2 double beds and 2 twin beds).
In the basement there is a home theater room with a 120” screen and high definition projector. The two oversized sofas that are twin bed sized when the pillows are removed for extra sleeping spots. Adjacent to theater room is a game room with a full size pool table, ping pong, tournament foosball table, air hockey, pacman, galaga, pinball and tournament shuffleboard table

The large back porch off the main living area is a favorite spot for relaxing to the sounds of the stream with a bed swing (a favorite napping location), outdoor seating and dining table. Off the basement is nice sized lawn with corn hole games provided. There is also a patio with six log rocking chairs along with a 7-person hot tub. Just off the lawn area is a stone fire pit surrounded by large boulders.
Off the front of the house is an outdoor covered seating area surrounding a gas fire pit. Finally, there is an outside dining table and ceramic egg grill/smoker.

Christmas in the mountains
Perfect location for our family who wanted to just stay in and relax. Necessity shopping only and no tourist spots is what we preferred. It's a good 40 minutes into town. Owner was great to work with. Property is set in beautiful location. We noticed a beautiful cross built in to the main windows overlooking the creek. Gorgeous home

It's all true!
Everything everyone has said about this property is 100% true! It is a spectacular log cabin in the Northern Mountains of Georgia that has every amenity that you could ask for. We had 3 family units staying here and we had plenty of room. We also used every area in the house: the game room, the theater room, the hot tub, the deck with the awesome porch swing, the portico with the outdoor seating arrangement and the lawn (for a family corn hole tournament!) It seems like we used this cabin a little differently than others staying here. While it was very tempting to just stay at the cabin and relax, we also took quite a few day trips ... to Chattanooga, TN, Atlanta, Dahlonega and Helen, GA and even Huntsville, AL. While the end of our stay was marred with issues from thunderstorms, Alan was great with his communication. I cannot give you a stronger recommendation than to just say - book it!!!!

Family Vacation
This house is absolutely beautiful! You feel as though you are in a dream. There is lots of room for togetherness, but also room for spending time with yourself. Nice open concept. The focal point of the living room for our group was the cross with 3 nails that represented our Christ and what He did for us. An intentional part of construction. The owner was very helpful and there for any question that we had. The kitchen was so well stocked and so fun to prepare our meals. The home is very remote, yet shopping and eateries are only 30 minutes away; If you choose to visit this cabin you will not be disappointed. The quiet is awesome, the mountains are beautiful and the home is absolutely stunning. Our family truly loved our visit and hope to do it again soon.

Lovely experience in GA cabin
The cabin is 3 levels of beautiful luxury. All areas thoughtfully designed and decorated. Kitchen absolutely fabulous with top of the line appliances and the two stoves were wonderfully convenient. Beds and linens all top of the line and bathrooms were great with plenty of counter space. Enjoyed the side porch sitting area as well as the hot tub sitting area. We found the creek difficult to access and the road leading to the cabin quite steep but manageable once you go over road a few times. Very remote and very quiet. Host was exceptionally easy to work with and was quick to respond to any questions. One of our top VBRO experiences and we have travelled with VBRO for over 12 years.

Lovely Rustic House
We stayed here for an intergenerational family vacation. Loved this rustic house tucked back in the mountains along side a stream. This house had everything we needed for our stay. There are so many different gathering areas, or you can find a quiet corner if you want to be alone. We always have supper together as a big group, so we really liked the round dining room table we could all fit around.

My bride of 27 years and I are natives of the Atlanta area. We have amazing twin daughters who are seniors in college along with an incredible church family.

Why they chose this property

We built Dare to Relax to share with others. I was the architect, builder and designer of the log home. We built the home with two objectives in mind, first we wanted a place that would reflect the majesty of God. Second, we wanted a home that could accommodate large crowds with many spaces for conversation and community. We also wanted a home that while large in space and scale would also feel intimate for couples or smaller parties.

What makes this property unique

Dare to Relax Lodge is like no other log home you have ever seen. Some of the logs are almost 3 foot in diameter. Most everything in home is one-of-kind. Guests remark that after days of staying at the lodge they continue to discover features and details they hadn't previously noted. The beams used for the pot rack and kitchen hood came from a barn constructed in 1800. The 7-foot dining table is constructed from timbers from a previous south Carolina cotton mill. Every log in the home was hand peeled and sculptured to perfectly fit together in a true work of art. While rustic, the home is filled with luxury. There is an Alexa to play music at the command of your voice. There is HD movie theater room. Every bedroom has an independent sophisticated AC and heating system to allow each guest to set to the room temperature to their personal preference.
