About the property

House, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Bahama Sunset is a beautiful island home set on rugged cliffs overlooking the quiet Caribbean Ocean!

Guests at Bahama Sunset have a view of the crystalline blue-green waters from every window, and each night can watch stunning sunsets glide into the ocean from the wrap-around deck that hangs over the cliffs. You'll find excellent snorkeling and diving a one minute walk down the stone cut steps that bring you to your own private lagoon.

The marine life in our 'lagoon' includes colorful parrot fish, balloon fish, moray eel, grouper, lobster, crab, needle fish, red fans, sea snails, many varieties of coral and all kinds of other beautiful sea life. Eleuthera is a quiet, rural island and the nearby village, Gregory Town, is a sleepy harbor town full of friendly Bahamian natives. The night life at Bahama Sunset includes an orchestra of crickets and the dance of the ocean in the lagoon.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Scott,

I’m sad to say that we are home from our trip…which was absolutely perfect! We had never been to Eleuthera before but we fell in love. The place was everything we could have wanted from a vacation rental- kitchen was well stocked for cooking, days and nights are quiet and relaxing, and the view is stunning! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

A GREAT escape for anyone who enjoys the natural beauty of the Bahamas. The location alone is worth everything! The local people will treat you like family unpretentious and genuine. the lagoon is full of surprises. The sunsets are unforgetable. The beaches are a dream. The house is all you need to relax and renew your spirits. Great work Scott and Wendy and phillip! This has been a highlight of our familys travels!! p.s get fresh fish from the local fishermen it's the BEST!

Bahamas Sunset is everything it is advertised as

  • 5 of 5

The setting is exactly what it looks like, and the location just south of Gregory Town is ideal to see most of the more secluded and absolutely stunning beaches you will ever come across. You will be living among the locals of a small village that lives simply, so don't expect the everyday amenities you'd find in a more populated and commercialized vacation spot, but that's part of this amazing place. Highly recommend for an escape from busy life and spend time with each other, the sun,the water, and the island !

On the cliffs

  • 4 of 5

We have always wanted to stay on the cliffs. All the pictures represent this house perfectly. We did snorkel and saw so many sea fans. There are plenty of turtles and fish to watch from the deck! I was glad I had read the previous reviews. It's good to know to bring your own TP, paper towels, soap, etc. as it can be hard to find on the island and is so easy to pack. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Paradise WAS an Illusion...

  • 3 of 5

We chose Bahamas Sunset based on all the 5 star reviews. Unfortunately, we did not have a 5 star vacation. First let me start with the positives because it will be short. The views are amazing morning, noon, and night which is very relaxing. My husband really enjoyed the snorkeling. He saw quite a bit of marine life. The house is fairly spacious, and the locals were mostly friendly. That's about it for the positives.

Now for the negatives...Our introduction to Philip was met with complete and utter disinterest in us. We were told to ask Philip about a wonderful place to get fresh bread and his response was "just go the market and buy some bread". The house did not have trash bags and we asked if he could bring us some, but that never happened. There were other things we asked for but to list them all will take up too many characters. We can appreciate him allowing us our privacy but to be completely dismissed and/or ignored when we specifically asked for help is unacceptable.

We have used VRBO for many years, and we have NEVER stayed in a house that had rusty appliances and mold on the curtains, or did not supply extra toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, trash bags, or extra towels. Housekeeping really does not wash the dishes. So be kind to the next renters and wash the dishes before you leave or they will be put away dirty as we found out. Oh and be prepared to sleep on a futon mattress. The owner should also consider investing in a safe, as we had a man lurking around house with a trash bag in tow not realizing we were there. When my husband confronted him he began to offer his services to wash the car, get us some lobsters if we would give him some money. The only way we were going to get rid of him was to give him a few dollars. Not to say he was there to steal from us, but it just seemed a bit suspicious and unnerving.

We love traveling and value our trips. So to have this kind of experience on our first trip to the Bahamas is disappointing to say the least.

Rustic, clean, cannot beat the views, and the caretaker, Phillip, was a pure delight!

  • 5 of 5

Would recommend asking for the caretaker's number just in case. We arrived hours later than expected because of a delayed flight and we should've let Phillip know but it did all worked out. The house was stocked with limited paper products, no paper towels and one roll of toilet paper. But there was every appliance and other kitchen tool you could ever need. We were unable to find hand soap to purchase. Would recommend renting the car through Scott, the VRBO host; it was a reliable car and easy to arrange pick-up/drop-off. We did get a flat but Phillip had given us a tutorial prior, making it easy and quick to change. We received a new spare with a day or two. We had a storm one of the days and it knocked the ladder down to the water into the ocean. Again Phillip to the rescue and it was fixed within a day. The property is very private, even the few days we had neighbors, we never felt intruded upon. It was a romantic spot for the perfect honeymoon. We cannot wait for our next visit to Eleuthera and plan to stay again at Bahama Sunset.

Refreshed & Recharged

  • 5 of 5

Amazing. Cozy, clean, inviting little cottage all done in wood, on the cliff. The real beauty is at the bottom of those stairs and the breathtaking views.
